I loved the tack board posted earlier, and I just finished my own boards this weekend, so I thought I'd post here, too.

the only step we have left is to mount it on the wall and i thought i'd share my pictures and tell y'all what i did. :)

Next week I'm going to a 4 day conference and one of the events is a "time warp" dance. I'm supposed to dress from any time period except modern. I don't want to go all out... I don't want to have big hair and and really fancy getup like from the 50's or something. I'd really love to do a future thing and dress Trinity-esque in a black shiny fake leather outfit, but I don't want to spend a lot of money. Any thoughts on what I could do? If not Trinity-style, what other time period would be easy to do, possibly to find cheap clothing somewhere or to alter my own clothes?

I'm meeting my boyfriend's brother and niece next month and I want to make something for his niece. She's 8 years old I believe (maybe 7) and she's quite spoiled (her mother and stepfather throw half-birthday parties for her, gifts and all), so I'm afraid to BUY something for her, lest it not be good/expensive enough. I *do* make purses too, but I'm unsure as to what material I should even use if I make her a little one...

So, all in all, any suggestions for gifts for a 8 year old girl???

So. I got the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe on sale for $7.99. After I took the sleeve off (I hate book cover covers) it's just a plain black book that is screaming for me to decoupage it. But I thought I'd ask you gals for your ideas on pictures to use/materials/anything else you'd like to tell me. Or if you have any ideas for how to make the cover pretty other than decoupage I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance to anybody that replys, you girls are fantastic.

OK I am converting an altoids tin into a lil emergency kit for a friend of mine who's a dancer. I'm already putting in it, a set of marble magnets, some hair ties...what else should go? It needs to be small enough to fit into an altoids tin. Thanks loves!

Does anybody have any ideas for altering a mens white tuxedo shirt? It looks something like this one except without any buttons:

Thanks!

One of my favorite bands guster is having a concert/signing on Wednesday and I'm going to get them to sign my guster shirt. What's the best pen/product to get them to use so it'll last as long as possible. There's got to be a better soulution than using a Sharpie . . .
thanks!

I've been crafty lately, check out what I've made ^^

First, my friend's birthday was coming up and what he desperately wanted was a pirate flag. One black pillowcase, one bottle of acrylic medium and one of white paint, and a few hours later..
ARRRR MATEYS )

My other friend's birthday was coming up too, and her request for a gift was "Something cool I can take with me to college". o_O Okay, not very specific, but I ended up getting her a cheapo frame from Michaels (it was $1 and ugly as heck), painting/decoupaging it, and making it all pretty.
I'm very proud of it! )

Aaaaand lastly, I made a Pucca hat! If you don't know who Pucca is, you can see a picture of her in my icon--she's basically a character invented to sell merchandise (like Hello Kitty) but she's cute as hell. http://puccaclub.com is her website where you can watch flash cartoons of her chasing her "boyfriend" and trying to kiss the crap out of him. Here are the pictures of the hat I made! )

my bestest friend in the whole wide world had her tendons in her hand reconstructed on friday, and today had her gallbladder removed.
therefore im making her a care-package to drop in her mailbox for her to discover when she comes home from the hospital tomorrow.

ive already made her a heat-pack for her hand out of rocketship face-cloths i bought at the dollar store, and a set of magnetic poetry with words like [henry rollins love hot sex wuurrd s'up, etc]

but uh that's all i can think of at the moment to make her happy. i think im going to make her big comfy pajama pants too [just have to dig up enough old t-shirts..]

anyone else have any suggestions? she cant eat solid foods for a while, so baking her stuff is out of the question [i was going to make her waffle mix, because she lives on waffles and kool-aid, and since she cant use her hand to make batter, i was going to make up a jar of the dry stuff so she just has to add eggs and junk...but yeah i'll wait for that one]

simple...complex...it doesnt matter anymore. ive got all night.
*laughs*
[material wise, i have little bits of everything...and if i dont have it, and love your idea, michaels is only a 10 minute walk away...*grins*]

thanks in advance.

it was my friends birthday a couple of days ago and she was 18. i feel *really* bad, as i forgot to send a card and didn't get her a present either! i was going to send her a huge bouquet of flowers this week, but she's not going to be at home to receive them :(
i'm seeing her on Saturday thoug and we're going out with a load of people. then we'll be meeting up on the Sunday too...so i was thinking i could make something this week and give it to her on Sunday. thing is, i have no idea what to make, lol. this is the friend i was going to decoupage a box with Beatles clippings, if anyone remembers...only, i couldn't get hold of any clippings, so that idea was out.

so does anyone have any ideas? anything!? fanks :)

I've looked all over and can't find anything but...
what can I do with a bunch of coasters, they are like plastic circles (sides and bottom) with cork middles (where you sit your drink) I have a 4 pack of them. Any suggestions?? Thanks much.

I made these earrings today! Just two small-ish glow in the dark stars (the kind you stick on your wall or ceiling), and some hook fasteners.

BTW, is it just me or can no one else find communities on LJ anymore? I click on an interest and only personal journal come up :( I was told that only paid members can find communities...but I am a paid member so what gives?

About a month or so ago, someone posted many pictures of the lovely beads they made with a special cane technique for clay and a description of the process. There were butterflies on the beads with a stained glass effect through the wings.

Did anyone happen to bookmark this post, or is the lady who created the beads out there?

I searched the FAQ under "clay" and "beads" and didn't find it. I unfortunately didn't put it in my own memories like I thought I had either.

I'd love to see the post again.
