Hey everyone. Thanks for all the amazing inspiration. I've been checking out the community for a little while and thought I'd poke my head out to say hi.

I just started sewing on the sewing machine, doing basic stuff. Tonight I made a simple red purse with white contrast stitching.

Hi! I've just started knitting about 2 days ago. I bought a kit from Wal-Mart that had needles, some other odd looking things and a book. I just started with 20 whatevers when I casted on, and I figured out how to do it and just kept going. I've got over a foot done now. Its like a very narrow scarf, or maybe it will be a belt... hehe

Anyway, I really want to make wrist cuffs for my friends and maybe some leg warmers for myself. I've checked out the FAQ/memories and have just been skimming over some stuff, and I have no idea what you guys are talking about (lol). I think I need to find someone who has experience to help me out (grandma).

Anyway, getting to the point:

what are double-pointed needles?

Hi!
I recently borrowed my boyfriend's mother's sewing machine, but i can't get the damn thing to work. I'm a total beginner. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a very affordable sewing machine, that's good for beginners?
Thanks

I'm new here. But I'd like to share some pictures of craft projects...and my messy kitchen! {or should I say "kitsch-en?"}

My office was throwing away some ugly artwork, so I snagged a picture with a decent frame. I gessoed and painted right over the old picture and matting with colors that matched things around my kitchen. I found a 1959 magazine ad for the first real sewing machine I ever had. It fit almost perfectly in the frame. Viola! Artwork on the cheap.

Hi there!
I havent posted in a while but i've got a few questions and was wondering if anyone can help.

I'm interested in making my own plushies [like UFO catcher dolls at www.ufocatcher.com] but i'm not sure where to begin. [i can make dolls but they dont turn out the same] if anyone has any idea or webpage/website i can refer to , please let me know.

Also i sewed a bag recently and i've been wanting to put a clasp in it. I've seen bags in stores with magnetic clasps [also on purses/wallets] and was wondering if i was able to get these clasps from anywhere. any recomendations would be extremely appreciated. [i live in australia]

And i also make kitty and bunny hats! [Check my journal or click here to see]
