i made a elegant gothic lolita bag! i'm so excited about it ^^
i bought the bag from goodwill for $5
then i covered it with a shiny black fabric i bought for $2
i got the lace $0.97 a yard (i got 2 yards) at wal-mart
the little rose thing is made of silk ribbon (pre-mad) and came with similar ribbon for about $2.00 (i couldn't make it better ^^;)
it's a very VERY simple project, but i am very proud of it ^^

I want to make a shirt with an iron-on transfer, but I have a question. .

I simply want the logo of the band, and there will probably be a black backround. The black backround may not be the same color black as my shirt, though. I don't want it to have different shades of black, so is there any way I could make it so Only the logo is there, no backround?

Thank youuuuu!

ah...i told my cousin i'd make him a costume for his RPG....some sort of peasent/theif thing....he wants them to look like Westly's pirate black zorro thing costume and Inego Montoya (sp?) from "A princess bride....

anyway....i thought i'd combine purchased pieces (like from a thrift store) with pieces I made myself...I was wondering if anyone knew of any websites where I could find info on making pieces similar to these....

i need to make this hood : http://www.smorgenstern.com/images/stills/015.jpg

Question: Does anyone know how to knit flowers? I have to knit one for a hat I'm making for a trade (YAY exeohexeoh), but it's about time I learn anyways :) Can anybody help me out?

I made this for Gene for an anniversary present. It's his 2 daughters. There's a pic of just Maya on the other side. What is it? It's a thing to hang from your rear view mirror. The glass pendant is up top because if it hangs too low it swings around, hits the window, and breaks. We know from experience. I put a clasp on it so he can just clip it around his mirror. The only thing I wish I'd done differently is the glue. I should have just not glued it (there is contact paper over it to protect the pics) or carefully glued the edges. I sprialed the glue on the back of the photo and the blue contruction paper bled through. :( I also think next time I'll put a few beads on the bottom of the pic just to make sure it hangs down straight. A little wieght from the beads won't pull through, I don't think.

Here it is... )

ok, so for as far back as i can remember (maybe even longer), i've wanted to sew my own clothes. and for at least a few months now, i've wanted a cute ruffly skirt. now, both are true!

i'm really proud of it, it was my second attempt but it turned out reall well, so i'm pleased to say the least. it took about 4 hours. it sheer, and it has a blue lining layer underneath.

I'm wanting to make some sort of hair accessory using an artificial red and black poppy. I also want to use the poppy to decorate a handbag. This is all to go with a very 50's style black dress.
But I can't find artifical red and black poppies anywhere, so I wondering what the best way might be to try and make some. Since most fabric frays I', thinking of felt but it doesn't seem very summery. Especially for a hair thing.

Any ideas?

I'm going to Illuminares on Saturday and I'd like to make my own lantern for the parade.

If all else fails, I'll go to the workshop before the event, but I'd like to make something unique and fun.

What I'm lacking is the knowledge of how to build a paper lantern. I have no idea where to start and my web searches keep bringing up the kids single-piece-of-paper version that I remember making when I was a kid.

I'm hoping to make something more interesting.

So, anyone have any good links to paper lantern instructions?

I had a too big wife-beater and just hemmed the bottom, and the sides are fine for me, and i used transfer-on-paper and I put a saying on here. I found it in a comment somewhere. It's kinda crappy since the wife beater like stretches, but oh well. I like it. And i added ribbons at the top.

well most crafts i make are more like science projects because i just do them to see if they will actually work. this one was a perfect example. i bought those marble beads because i figured i would make multicolored marble magnets but that experiment was a failure lol. the marbles are irredescent so you can't see the pictures through them that well. sooo i came up with this idea:
a picture frame )
so it came out alright. the picture is not centered in this pic so it looks kind of dumb but other than that i think it looks pretty good.
i think i'm gonna make another one but glue this thick ribbon that i have onto the cardboard instead of those stones.

My little sister gave me one of those handheld sewing machines for my birthday. I just wanted to test it out so I folded a hot pink piece of felt and sewed the sides. I had some extra cute pink/white plaid ribbon, so I decided to sew it around the top and then I made a little bow out of it. The sewing looked a little messy so I handsewed on some sequins. I actually think it came out sort of cute, and I want to send it to my sister at sleepaway camp, but I'm not sure what I should do with it. I wanted to maybe add a closure to it or something? What could I make this into?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. <3

Alright, so I've made this cute little make up purse out of this cool black and white stripe fabric. I've got everything sewn together except for the top part where you have to sew in the zipper and the lining. I've had such a hard time I've actually put off this little project for a good 3 weeks or more. Any one have tips for dealing with zippers?

What can I do with a feather boa? Not the feathery kind, but the butt-fur-feather soft kind. I have two. One black and one pink.

Ideas?

Also, I'm making a corner desk in the shape of a quarter circle. Very simple. I'm painting it black, but I want to do some sort of design on it. Nothing boring-like, and flowers and ivy doesn't really go with the decor. (My room is black and white and red all over.) So any ideas of what to do? I'm thinking of making a stencil. But what?

I finished yet another bag. Now I'm switching gears to zine production for the Portland Zine Symposium next weekend.

Anyhow, as usual, pictures are over in my journal.

HI, I'm new here.

Does anyone have any patterns for beaded flowers, and also beaded flower jewelery of any type. I have nothing to do and a TON of beads, and need something to keep me occupied.

Any help would be FANTASTIC since all of the patterns I saw on the internet have to be paid for. BOOOOOOOOO

I made that this skirt (below) from scratch today. I had to guess the pattern which was: 2 rectangular pieces then with darts made/sewn in them and a longer strip gathered and sewn to the bottom. Two more to be made tomorrow. I ran out of zips. :(

Pillows!

I've been on here a while but never posted my crafts. I just got a sewing machine, so here are two first creations!
This one is made with some worn out corduroy pants-fabric, and some red velveteen fabric from an old shirt that never quite fit right, used on the star and for the bottom...
