quick question: anybody know of any good sites on embroidery (other than sublime stitching) which have useful instructions and tips and such?? i'm not interested in cross-stiching, which i have been able to find many sites on, just plain ol' embroidery. i've gotten inspired to add this to my list of favourite crafts after an awesome embroidery workshop (for beginners) organized by the church of craft in toronto! :)

I posted about a week ago here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/1858018.html

I was looking for ideas for gifts and whatnot for my sister, who is in the hospital. One of the things I was going to make was a nice hospital gown, to replace the boring ones that the hospital gives out. I finished it tonight and hope it works out okay. I took this pattern and altered it so that it is slit straight up the back, and at the top of the sleeves.

(For those of you who are asking how she is: About the same. She's got a permanent trach tube now, and still in the ICU. =\ )

Does anyone whether putting an iron on transfer on top of another iron on transfer will make the image last longer?

Also, does anyone know where I could find large images (say 5" squared or larger) of linkin park? I'm trying to do a bag for a friend of mine who is a fanatic of linkin park, but i can't seem to find an image big enough to print. I've tried enlarging some, but they become too distorted.I've already looked on picsearch, lycos, mamma, and google. Anywho, all help will be appreciated. =)

its just a black version of the red and white valentine bag i posted earlier. which originally the colour-scheme i wanted to use but was sadly out of black tape.

the silver sharpie is just there to demonstrate the pocket. which its not doing a very good job of doing if you ask me. lazy sharpie.

Does anyone know of any free patterns online? preferably vintage/70's style things? Most of the sewing and crochet patterns in FAQ (or that I find) are modern style things. I've tried my local library, but all they seem to have is new books. Im in the middle of nowhere, + the nearest craft store is 2 hours away :/

thanks in advance :)

I'm hoping to follow the instructions someone posted here a while ago about transferring images onto tiles using Color Photo Copiers. Does anyone know if the ink/toner/technology of Color Laser printers is similar enough to be used the same way?

I have free access to a Color Laser Printer but most image transfer methods I read about are for copiers or inkjets. Anyone have any ideas?

I am suppose to make a quilt square for a wedding quilt for my mother but I am not really good at any fabric crafts.

What would you guys suggest I do if I can't sew, quilt, or embroider or any other thing that is normally done with fabrics.

I thought of using fabric paint and painting something but I am not sure how well that will look for a long term thing.

Help! Got any ideas for me?

I need some help here. I have two pairs of wide but short pants from hot topic. They're both pretty plaids so I don't want to get rid of them, but I'm not sure what to do with them. I was thinking of making one into a skirt, but I'm not sure what kind of skirt and what to do with the other pair. Here's the pictures of them:

i posted earlier a question about iron on transfers. Anywho, I still haven't decided what I really want to do with the bag. I'm posting some pics in hopes of what you think of what I'd like to do, or if you could give me ideas of what I could do. By the way, this is a bag I'm making for a friend for her birthday, and she's a Linkin Park fanatic.

Gimme your opinions, please. )

OH MY GOD!!! I such a dumbass sometimes. Today I went to Walmart and bought some blank white shirts and some Iron on transfers. I come home and throw the shirts in the washer (the one thing I did right) so that they'd shrink before I put the transfer on. Then I come up to my computer and print up the bettie page image and the word "bettie". Unfortunatley it was set to print on greyscale, and the picture had an amazing red background so I printed it up in color. I go down to prep the shirt, and I realize that I forgot to make the images backwards, so I come up to the computer and fix that. So I've got the right Image and I iron it on ... but my stupid old iron left yellowish burn marks on the White Tshirt!!!! Now the shirt is in the washer trying to get those damn yellow marks off, and I've wasted two/maybe three pieces of (expensivie) transfer paper, and maybe one (cheap) tshirt. But man oh man it was a pain in the ass.
