I too have been making these thanks to the first tutorial that was posted. Now with the second one that was shared I think I can perfect these even more! They are time consuming yet addictive! Funny thing is months ago when I inquired on a "how to" to make these I was persecuted on the TRAVISTY of damaging books! I am glad that the others that are making these are not receiving that kind of attention!

I'm off to go shopping today (I'm enjoying the privilages of finally having a license, ha ha). Probably just heading to Michael's because of the sale.. and that's it, since I'm pretty broke, but I need to stock up on some scrapbooking type stuff for those crafty days.

I hear good things about Walmart prices though (ie: yarn), and I was wondering if Michael's would be my best bet to get paper punches, or if I could get them for cheaper somewhere else (or, if anybody knows of good places to shop online where the cost -- including shipping -- is not outrageous for single items)?

Just wondering.. :) Thanks everyone.

Oh, also just wanted to share that papercandy got new scrapbooking papers. Don't know when they arrived, but they are so modern and contemporary; I lurrvveee them. Roughly $1.00 a piece, which I find a tad bit pricey for a sheet of paper, but eh. I might make a few orders here.

just wanted to let you sculpey users know that michael's has it for 50% off this week (works out to about .64 per 2oz. pack), other clays (like premo) are also 50% off. the wonderful thing though was that the liquid sculpey which is usually about $8 is ALSO included in this sale.

and i had a question. my boyfriend collects saki sets. so for his birthday which is now only 2 weeks away, i was going to make him one. i have been trying and failing miserably because the saki sets have a narrow neck, everytime i try to work on the bottom i stretch out the clay for the neck so much that i can't get it to go back. does anyone have any suggestions? i'm running out of time AND patience. thanks!!

I was curious if anyone goes to Impressions Do you find it to be a reasonably priced store? If not, does anyone know of where would be a better place to buy stamps? I would rather make my Christmas cards this year, and I thought stamps would be a good way to do it.

Thanks!

does anyone know how to knit legwarmers? i'll take any advice on what needles or yarn to use.
thanx.

I have two things... one craft-related and then other just a blatant promo, but the the blatant promo will be behind the ever polite lj-cut. But please do go look, entertainment should follow.

One, I'm semi-new to knitting. All I can manage currently are rectangle shaped things. So obviously, I make a crap load of scarves. I love the way the perl stitch looks. Desperately so. But I want it to look perl on both sides, ala the new skinny gap scarves. How would I accomplish this?

Blatant but ever so polite promo for comedy )

I'v a question that I'm sure someone out there knows the answer to - if I cut the bottom off a t-shirt and just leave it like that, I know it will curl up but will there be a point at which it'll stop curling up or it will just annoy me to no end? I bought a baseball-type t-shirt from homestarrunner.com (of the Teen Girl Squad - woohoo!) but it's too long and I'm thinking the raw-cut bottom hem (?) will compliment it anyway. When they are made at the factory like that, are they just cut or are they finished somehow?

Hi all
i collect vintage sewing patterns and more often than not ...i also come across crochet [i dont crochet much], knit [i dont knit] or sewing patterns which dont fit me and i always end up buying them just cos i love the pics and stuff.
I know trading isnt allowed here so i formed a new community [livejournal.com profile] vintage_diy for those interested in trading patterns or copies of them etc. Check the user info of the community to find out more.
*apologies if this is not allowed, please remove if not allowed...sorry! . x-posted

i posted earlier a question about iron on transfers. Anywho, I still haven't decided what I really want to do with the bag. I'm posting some pics in hopes of what you think of what I'd like to do, or if you could give me ideas of what I could do. By the way, this is a bag I'm making for a friend for her birthday, and she's a Linkin Park fanatic.

Hey all, Im curious as to wear I would find black hook and eye tape.

I want to sew this corset vest thing with hook and eyes in the front, however, the only tape I can find is in white, which wouldnt match the fabric I have.

Also, does anyone recomend any books or websites about fitting patterns? Because I just started sewing in the spring, and so far all the patterns I have used (with the exception of my homecoming dress) have fit quite well without needing to fit them to me, yet they most definatly could fit better....

thanks in advance ya'll...

Anyone in Ireland who is interested in being interviewed for a piece on crafting in the Irish Times (yes, the Irish Times?) I am looking for fellow crafty ladies to feature in a large-ish piece for the Magazine. Just leave a comment with your email address...

This is my first post here. I was inspired by xsaltyx, whom I know cause of her Boston Terrier. :) Anyhow, here is my first attempt at sewing something that did NOT involve a pattern.. and I am proud. ;)

Does anyone know where I could find a pattern of a simple long sleved dress that ends above at the knees and an apron-type thing of the same length? I want to make my halloween costume cuz I'm cheap and I'm going to be a deranged alice in wonderland....

thanks!

i just posted to someone in ebaycrafty about this, then answered my own question. if you are looking for duct tape in different colors than are normally available in one's community, check this out

i fell instantly in love with the camo!

Can anyone think of a way to waterproof small boxes fairly cheaply (without using a laminating machine, which I haven't got?) I'm thinking of making some small boxes to hold cutlery out of some nice papers, so I'll want to keep the design if possible. Does mod podge work? They're not going to be /soaked/, but they will get wet over time.

has anyone had any experience in making their own incense or herbal teas?

this is two questions...

so i'm an RA at my school and we're in charge of decorating the halls. does anyone have any ideas about fun things i can put on the walls? pretty? informative? BOTH?

i'm also in charge of making programs for my wing. they're all girls and i want to do a "craft program" once a month. we made lip gloss last week and it was really fun. does anyone know any easy/semi-cheap/fun crafts i can do?

thanks!

i thought this was an awesome idea. whoda thunk you can make bracelets out of toothbrushes? i haven't actually tried it yet (i don't have any old toothbrushes lying around) but i'm dying to.

This is not craft related, but some of you may have input here. Mod: Please feel free to delete :)

Has anyone ever bought a dress or anything from www.daddyos.com? Do they cut big or small or are they pretty true to size? I'd hate to buy a dress and find out they're cut in Delias sizes...

Thanks for any help you may have
