No I don't need help figuring out what to do. I'm going to be a fetish/gothy/vampy/sexy nurse. I need help with ideas FOR my costume. Here is what I have now...

+ I'm taking one of my mom's old shirts (scrubs) that she got from when she worked in the hospital and making it into a tight sexy dress. (cut the neck hole so it's lower... add material to the shirt so it's longer... ect.)
+ Splatter "blood" all over it.
+ Write "Bend Over" in small black letters somewhere on it.
+ Stitch on red crosses.
+ carry two large syrenges filled with "blood"
+ carry a stethescope
+ I'm wearing a pair of very light silver open toe high heels (i don't have any white pumps *cries*

Anyone have any other ideas? Or anything to add/remove/ect to the costume.

here's what the shirt looks like (I haven't altered it yet).

so i always post Q's and no craftiness. so just so you all know i'm not faking it
i made a pair of wrist warmers and a scarf to match last night, sorry no pics
but they're constructed in red heart's light and lofty -pheasant- which is the perfect name cause it's maroon and gold-ish tan and and earthy greena nd a darkdarkdark teal-ish green. and it's gorgeous. the wrist warmers are free form to fit a medium hand and the scarf is almost ten feet long but only four or so inches wide so you can wrpa it around and around and around.....
whew dizzy.....
so yeah i wanted to post that i actually finished something.

ok so I bought this 'Mineral Bath Soak' at the store for about 5 bucks for a really small packet and the ingredients say:
Borax, Sea Salt, Baking Soda, Essential Oils of Lavender, Lavadin

so my question is in theory could I just buy some borax, epson salt and baking soda put a little lavender oil in it and mix it and have the same thing?

hello laddiieezz! (and gentlemen..?)

anyway, i found this SUPER cute purse at www.urbn.com. Alas, althought it was on sale for $14.99, the shipping was a FREAKIN $8.50. what a rip off.

I was mainly buying it to figure out how to make one of my own... but after some research I found that it's actually called the "burmuda bag" circa 1968.

and you buy one, and then you bought different covers for it that buttoned on. ANyway, I thought this was really cute, and after I find some handles.. then I'll have endless bags! The only downside is that I dont know where to find a pattern for it. It says its from McCalls, .. but in 1968!

Hm well, this is what it looks like

from urbn.com

more pics under the cut! )

so if you guys can help me out with the pattern, or anything really that would be super great :)

Any ideas on how to decorate a faceplate I have for my Palm handheld. It's a snap on/off faceplate similar to the ones you get for cell phones. You can see one the same here:
http://www.expansys.us/product.asp?code=M100_BWOOD
I'm wondering whether decoupage would work. I've never done any though and didn't know if it might be too thick. Or any other ideas would be good too. I'm kind of tempted to just start slopping on nail polish.

So, I've recently gotten all crazy with the sewing (recently posted a problem with a tote bag I was making...thanks to the helpful folks here, I finished it! pictures soon) and now I've decided that I want to make some of my Christmas presents. Mostly totes and purses and knitted scarf/hat sets.

My problem now is this: I'd like to put a tag inside the tote/bags/whatever with my name on it, sort of a "Made by Meredith" manufacturers tag. Should I just make my own with a fine tip permanent pen? I'd like them to be small, maybe 1"x2", with black writing on white fabric. Does anyone in this community embroider stuff like this? I'd be happy to pay for it, or work out a trade or something. Or maybe should I go a different route, like with an iron-on transfer onto the lining?

Any suggestions? Or volunteers for embroidery? :) Thanks in advance. You guys rock!

I created a community to aid in badge making, button making. Questions about machines, questions about designs, design swapping, etc. I hope to make this a little sister community inspired by [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl and aid in any button or badge making needs. :)

Please feel free to join.

So I'm at the very early stages of creating a business out of my craftiness (Pagan ritual and formal wear, accessories, and other stuff), and I was wondering if any of you grrls who are already doing business with your crafts have any advice for me? Ideally I'd like to be able to support myself with this.

What do I *have* to know?
What pitfalls would it be helpful to avoid?
How hard is it to make a living from craft-work?

I think I saw a link to a small business LJ community ages back - was I dreaming?

Thanks heaps.

Does anyone know how to get superglue out of a shirt? I don't know if this makes a difference, but it's 65% viscose 35% cotton. It is really thin. Thanks. :)

okay, i am havin' a huge problem. if you know anything about paint, help me out.

i was using some embroidery paints, and i accidentaly pulled the plug that keeps the paint in one of the tubes. so, it covered my hands in sky blue paint.

and the horrid part is, it wont come off. i've tried hot water, hot water mixed with oxy clean, peeling it off with tape, rubbing alcohol, scratching it off, and my sister and i cant think of anything else.

I dont want to live my life with blue hands...so someone pleeeease suggest something.

thanks TONS in advance.

i ordered some beads and jewellery fixings off a website...and got it this morning. i apparently ordered a 'memory wire necklet'...which just looks like a bit of curved wire to me! it seems too small to fit around someones neck...although, it fits around mine, but not *quite* comfortably. and it wraps around about 3 times...i do have a thin neck though. so er, what am i meant to do with it? is it meant to be tight or?...

help!

i have a question, and was wondering if anyone had a better idea, or something...

but first has anyone ever worked with/played with a can of liquid rubber and applied it to something? if so, how many coats does it take?
i know this can was bought at a hardware store, to like coat pliers and other tools so that the handles are more durable (or something) but i figure it could be used on other objects as well.

so tonight, for dinner i had chinese and had these super long chopsticks and i dunked the ends into the rubber.. :) and because i dont like the rest being just plain i was thinking about getting chinese letter stickers (any clue where i can find them?) and wrapping them around..

but if anyone has any other ideas i'm open to suggestions :) i'm bored, and feeling crafty.

No crafty pics, but a purse is in the works..expect pictures monday.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who posted suggestions to get the paint off of my hands.

I tried every suggestion, and 4 hours, 1 roll of paper towels, and a bottle of paint thinner later, I was incredibly smelly, but paint free.

Thanks for all the help!
