For those of you who have sewn triangle bikini tops:

Was the boob-cover pattern a plain triangle or was it curved anywhere to allow for darts?

I really don't want to spend a bunch of money for a pattern that obvious, but I still want to double check. And no, I do not own any normal bras. I am an AA.

i have a problem with my sewing machine...the top thread doesn't seem to be picking up the bottom thread. if that makes sense...? it's a stupid little machine, not a handheld though. but anyway, i suppose it works just like a normal sewing machine does. i've rethreaded the bobbin 3 times, but it still won't work...

help!

Someone made a post the other day about iron-on transfers and cloth covered books. I can't find the original post and I wanted to show it to someone and check out the type of iron-on transfer paper listed.

I made 4 bracelets from a ear of the Indian Corn last night. I have enough from that cob to make matching necklaces. Some I left plain and some with beads. I can't wait to start on a new cob as each has it's own color.
I might sell these but at this point I have NO idea what to price them at. I was thinking $8.00 a bracelet and $15.00 per necklace. There's a lot of work in drilling the kernels so I think that's fair. We'll see :)

The other 3 are behind a cut for those on dial up.

I make jewelry, mostly beaded. The art teacher at my school is offering to submit 28 pieces of art, plus additional individual artist portfolios, for a nation-wide scholarship option. Now, my question is, if I submitted jewelry as art (the teacher *thinks* it is allowed) would I actually hold up against oil pastels, paintings, and other traditional mediums? The scholarship offers $5,000 for the big winner which I would LOVE to get. Should I even bother to apply? Have any of you won money this way?

I drew out a grid pattern and then wrote a text (crochet) pattern for a small purse with an orange on it. I started working on it afterwards but it didn't look the way I wanted. I mean, it did look like an orange with a stem & leaf, just not the way I wanted my own purse to be. So... I'm going to re-do it. But I still think it's a good pattern, so here it is for anyone who wants to try it out.

I worked it in an F hook with worsted weight yarn in yellow, hot orange, and dark green.

I can teach you how to make a cool little container out of soda bottle tops!! haha..anyhow, any feedback would be great,. The website is not the greatest, i made it myself, and I do not have any type of training in that sort of stuff. :) It might help if I list the website.. http://www.MyPaperCrane.com

i need something to store my clothes in so they don't get dusty....i'd really like to use those linen-lined wicker rectangular baskets...but those are too expensive. right now i'm using family size eggo boxes, plastic bags, and what few zippered duvet plastic bags i have.

thanks

Does anyone have a creative way or just an organized way.. to keep necklaces/ bracelets.. ive actually used a coat hanger that i broke to hold bracelets and then have been keeping necklaces around a bed post, but i was wondering if you have any better ideas.

also;
i have heard paint brushes can work as makeup brushes. is it really better (cheaper? works as good) and if so, is there a specific kind of brush i should get, type/brand? etc.

Thanks ; )

DIY Cigar Box Purses
[identity profile] meloyellowd.livejournal.com
ok, I have a heap of rusty orange tooled leather looking vinyl. However, I want to somehow make the vinyl look a bit more distressed by getting more brown into the creases etc. what is the best product and way to go about getting that distressed vintage look onto new vinyl? i need something that won't be sticky, runny, or gloppy because I'm using it to cover my cigar boxes for cigar box purses ... ideas on how to seal it properly also needed.

thanks guys

I'm making a 6x6 scrapbook for my mom for Christmas. We have all these great photos buried in drawers, and I've asked her to choose her favorites (then gone behind her back and picked out more!) and I'm putting them in a cute little navy book for her. She likes to watch me scrap, but this project is off-limits to her! :p

Hi everyone.

Someone posted a few days ago about how to make "guts" with gelatin, and I cannot find it for the life of me! Can anyone direct me to it?

Also, I am helping to put on a little "haunted trail" with my uncle. Any ideas of things we could do/make to scare all these little kids? ;) The kids will ride down the trail on a trailor, and we're going to scare them. It'll be lit up by strobe lights&candles, with fake blood/caskets/scary constumes. The kids ages range from 7-13, but we want to scare the hell out of them all :D At the end of the trail, the kids stop at a table and "feel" things in bowls and guess what they are (grapes=eyes, etc), and as they take the cover off the last platter, a head will be under it. :)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help in any way.

Has anyone dehydrated orange slices to use for crafts? I couldn't find any dried ones so I figured I'd just do my own in my oven, and I don't need to be as particular as the instructions online I've seen because these are not for eating, just for decoration.

They all talk about making or using dehydrating trays, though, made out of wood lath or screening material, and I'd rather use something I already have. Any ideas? Any specific tips I should know about dehydrating orange slices?

So what is the progress on the craft book that's travelling to many craft grrls all around the nation? I haven't heard anything about that lately and was just curious.
[identity profile] --heavythoughts.livejournal.com
how do you make a stencil using paint stop pro?
[identity profile] melena.livejournal.com

i'm talking about this but in ebony.

i am having trouble finding tulip matte black brush-on fabric paint. i can get it in a lot of other colors, but neither my michaels nor joanns ever has it in stock. the woman working at joanns advised me not to have them order it for me because i will have to pay shipping and taxes and stuff. i can't find it on ebay either. does anyone know a store that usually has it in stock, or somewhere i could find it online???

if not, would anyone be willing to buy me 3 or 4 at their local store and i will send them money for the paint and for shipping? is this kind of post even allowed here? i will take this paragraph out if its not. i am asking for a trade-ish but its a last resort and i'm not trying to trade crafts, etc.

here is an easy shirt mod i did today, so my post has crafty-relevence and not just begging )

Oh I have been a busy girl the past couple of days.
I can't be bothered writing up again about everthing I've been up to, it's all on my website though.
Here are a few pictures to tempt you there.

Oh does anyone know where I can get ideas and inspiration for Lino Printing. I want to make some Christmassy Cards.
I know everyone else is thinking about Halloween, but I couldn't care less. I'm dreading halloween, I'm on a sleep-in at a care home in a not so pleasant part of the world. The last thing I need is kids banging on the door, I not allowed to give them anything anyway.

Cross posted a bit.

hi everyone. i know there are a whole bunch of memories about this but i'm not sure if any of those would apply. first of all, these are gifts to send to a boy in georgia (i'm in new york). i have been trying to think of things to send to him because i want to send him a huge package of gifts. he is being difficult and says he wants pictures of me, that is what makes him happy. i feel weird just taking pictures of myself, so does anyone have any ideas about that?

also i want other things so send, so if anyone has any ideas it would be SO helpful.

he plays soccer, he likes dragonball, he likes: jimi hendrix, the doors, pink floyd, flogging molly, he is jewish, he is gorgeous, and he has long hair.

i am also hoping to make a awesome mix cd of songs relating to love and distance so if you know of any please let me know.

thank you so much, Jess

while i'm here...i'm dressing as a mad scientist for halloween but need a bag. i was going to make book purse from a book about the atom but couldn't bring myself to rip it apart. so, any ideas? i don't have a sewing machine and very little time or money. any help would be VERY much appreciated. thanks.

This is my mum... She's a speedy knitter...

But she's cool because she's making something from the 80's (not the shorts though cause that would just be wrong!)

If anyone is interested in any of the lovely 70's / 80's patterns just let me know.

hello. i have a question and i hope you all can answer with something, because you have splendid ideas.

i'm moving in a few days, and i was wondering if you ladies have any ideas on how to spiff it up and make it pretty, especially my bedroom and my studio space. i have a million thoughts in my head, but i would LOVE to hear your's. i need to make this place a home. i could also use ideas for shelves, like display more than storage.

thanks in advance. ♥

My mom and I usually make some sort of Christmas decorations (primarily for the tree) but this year we can't seem to find anything at the craft stores that strikes our fancy. Does anyone have any ideas they would like to share?

Thanks!

Are there any good online sources that offer polka-dot fabric by the yard (other than ebay). I've checked all of my local fabric stores and can't find any classic polka dot material.
