i know i've been quiet for a while, not posting due to rl circumstances. i'm wondering, though, if the traveling notebook i sent out into the world is still in circulation. I haven't heard about it in ages, and whoever has it has to contact me to send it to the next person, since i have the list of names and addresses for it. If you have it or have recently had it, please let me know by emailing me at laurenybeth@livejournal.com. Thanks!

Hi hello again! As promised, here are pictures of the finished crocheted orange purse I made. I finished it yesterday after much frustration. So first let's go over the history, shall we? First, I made a grid and wrote a pattern. Then I worked it and it looked all funky and the pattern was wrong. I gave up, [livejournal.com profile] bjorkdoll (who this purse is very much inspired by) said to go at it again, so I did. I re-wrote the pattern, asked the mod to remove the old pattern, and I worked it again. Came across the realization that one line of the pattern was STILL wrong and I had messed up in the middle, unravelled hours of work, went at it again. Then finally worked the strap, ran out of green yarn so had to do the stripes differently from what I wanted. Stitched it all together; and I did my SCs really tight so my hand was hurtin' so badly after weaving in all those ends.. but here is the uh, fruit of my labor, or something. =)

for those of you who cross stitch, subversive cross stitch might provide some inspiration. (naughty word/attitude warning!)

hello! you know the story, long time lurker, first time poster, blah blah blah. well, i'm obsessed with harry potter and decided to make myself a quidditch tee-shirt. it's made from just a cotton tee and dark fabric transfer paper.

quidditch shirt )

it's not the greatest thing ever, but i love it!

I bought a skein of .5 colinette *ages* ago (like over a year) Don't know why I bought it or where I got it, but I need to do something with it cuz it's too pretty to sell lol I'd really like to do some colinette falls with it.

So - 1) Can I do a decent pair of falls with 1 skein?
2) Help? Online instructions? Diagrams?
3) IF I decided to braid some in on a full time basis (I did find instructions for that online) - how does one go about washing the rest of their hair lol I, obviously, don't want the wool to felt up in the hair or start getting all ratty looking.

TIA!!

If I have a pair of light-colored leather shoes and I use black shoepolish on them, what will happen? Has anyone ever tried it?

The last thread to share your halloween costume photos is already buried a few pages back so I'll start another.

Here I am in my 2-evenings to make red riding hood dress. This was from material I've had lying around for a while; some stretchy knit of unknown fibre content.

I made the cape/cloak from a big rectangle, I can post instructions if anyone is interested. The dress was made from a vintage pattern I picked up just last weeked - I've been dying to try it.

enough exposition, show us the goods red )

first time poster. well, first time posting something i've done anyway. i got bored tonight, so i went to michael's and bought sculpey clay. i was going to do a giraffe (my favorite animal), but i knew i didn't have the patience for it and since it was halloween i figured "why not?" i was going to take the easy way out and not do the facial expressions, but i decided it would look better than paint. it's the first time i've ever done anything with clay, by the way, so i'm pretty proud of myself.

i'm sorry the picture is horribly bad. my webcam hates me.

You may remember me from the post about the fake blood? That backfired and I decided to just dress really 80s for the halloween party. Im thinking about making a shirt with a slogan on it that is really typically 80s, anyone got any ideas?

i made this one with a wood print i made for university.
i'll may be selling them. but first i have to see what happens when i wash it.

My cat has stolen some mylar tissue from a gift package I got months ago... I want to make her something like

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3187&Nao=27&N=2002+2011

but the mylar tissue is too thin and sandwiched between fabric doesn't crinkle very nicely. Any ideas for crinkly stuff to line the cat bed with?

Thanks!
