soo... how long does it take bread to rise?

are there any tricks to make bread rise quicker??

i'm making cinnamon raisin bread (by scratch) and it's been "rising" for the past couple of hours, but not really at ALL. it's sitting in my oven with a towel over it, in a loaf pan. am i doing something wrong? that's what the directions say. i want to sleep! is it possible to leave it in the oven like that until morning? oh my.

made this spider web for my hair - like a "bun" holder..

made from black seed beads, gold beading wire, and fishing line.. you'd wrap it around your bun (in your hair) and pull it tight by a string (or wire) thru the loops at the end of each .. web..?? kinda hard to explain but I will try to get my hubby to take a pic of it in my hair..!!

This is a slow-loading link because of all the images. It's a buncha buncha projects, mostly crochet, some simple bookmaking (pamphlet making, really), a stained end table, and the collage piece I did for Reversing Vandalism: click

Help me craft grrls... you are my only hope.

Last year I did a family portrait for my boyfriend's family as a Christmas present. His mom went bonkers over it, which was great BUT --
now I have no idea what I can do/make for them this year that can match/top last year's gift.

What kind of gifts have you guys made for the in-laws?

All ideas are welcome! Thanks!

i have this really great angora sweater (i believe it's 70% angora, 30% nylon). unfortunately it's in a super bright shade of hideous yellow. now as much as i like color, i doubt i'll ever wear it in it's current state. is there a way do dye the sweater? will something like RIT dye work on angora/nylon? or is there something else i can use? thanks girls and boys :)

Look at that link to see the snowman bead I made last night.
I saw them on eBay so decided to try it myself. It is the first time I have made anything...really...out of the clay.
I make beads but they don't turn out so well. Which you can sorta see in 2 of the pictures. They burn easily....heh heh

Since all of you lovely girls are so helpful and crafty, I thought I'd ask this here and see what I get.

I'm 79 days away from my wedding and am starting to work on the church decorations. I have my ideas, but I need to call the minister and see about going in and measuring the length that I'll need for my decorations; for now I can at least get an idea of where to get the materials.

Stitching. The. Ditch. Sucks. Oh, and here's a helpful tip, when sewing with a big heap of quilt in your lap, DON'T sit in the sun next to the heater, or you will melt. At least it is going a lot quicker than I expected. I am now semi-sure that I will have the quilt finished by Monday night. Why Monday night? Because my boyfriend accidentally took the pattern for the little kid bathrobe I am gonna make with him on his business trip, and he gets back on Monday night. Tuesday to Thursday I will sew the robe & pillows, and Friday I will bake ten million cupcakes. *dies*

The only birthday project I've finished so far. )

Anyhoo, I'm taking a break from quilting to quickly make a toddler-sized chicken costume out of a pair of pajamas and a white feather boa.

Hi, we are making marble magnets as door gifts for our friend's church wedding (end Nov). Each gift will have a set of 4 marble magnets with a little card. Question: How do we package them so that they are presented prettily, don't run around chip each other? Either: Metal box
1) Not easily available where I am (Singapore) and quantity is too low -- 300 pieces.
Or:
2) Suggestions? Pack them against a card and seal in little clear plastic envelopes? Like this: http://www.accensia.com/shop/sta10.htm
Need some crafty back up solutions in case we don't find the tins in time. We'll be making 1200 marble magnets this weekend! Appreciate your quick response! Thanks!

My Halloween outfit. I'm wearing the black skirt I made, and I stenciled the T-shirt too. It's a stencil of Madonna from back in the day.

Hey there.
A friend of mine wants to paint a sunset (wee!) on his bedroom wall, and wants me to do it, or at least help. since I've never done anything like it, I'm looking for tips.
What kind of paint should I use? we're gonna need a few colors, do I use the same paint that's usually used on walls?
and what about patterns I could use for help?
Any other tips are welcome.

I'm sorry if this is too vauge but I'm looking for some spiffy images to stencil on to a tshirt. I have never made one before so it's gotta be kinda easy and I don't have Photoshop either. But I really want to do some and any links would be greatly appreciated!

i sell my designs at a local store and i'm desperately trying to get more stock in store cause everything keeps selling faster than i can sew!

Hey craftgrrl's! I have a question I hope you can help me with. Have you seen those paper mâché boxes at michaels in the shape of a heart? Well, I have a great gift idea for my friend (which i don't want to get too into because she might read this) but I need one of those, just bigger and easy to cut in half. I was wondering if any of you knew where I could get one or if it would perhaps be easier to make one. And if it would be easier how would I make it?

If you n eed me to go into the full description of the project, let me know and I'll comment on your own journal. But if you have any ideas, please help!!

(AND THANKS)

Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and ideas. I wanted to thank each one of you but I have no energy. My mind needs to stay busy but words are hard to form.

My sister's service will be Sat. under the stars in a park she liked, I bought silver edged card stock that will be printed with her memory, a neighbor of my mom's is letting us use a tent, we have chairs and a table, I found celestial paper to print poems on and frame, we are setting her favorite candles out, I bought blue and blue-green (her colors) flat marbles to set on the table, my mother's friend is speaking, I bought gel pens and a book to write things down and pass around, my boyfriend's mother is making my mom a scrap book...In a few days I may be back here and let everyone know what happened. I also want to do something nice for those that helped. I am thinking something a bit crafty is in order. Hand made always means more and is from the heart.

It has been hard and I hurt. I miss her. I got to visit her today and say goodbye. I talk to the stars because I know she is out there. I feel my sister.

Hi folks, this isn't really crafty, more one of those decoration/howto questions that you're all so good at answering :D

I have these four gorgeous Harry Potter OotP banners that I want to hang on my wardrobe doors, but I really don't want to damage them because they're so new and shiny. If I use tacks there'll be pinholes, and that blutac/sticky putty stuff tends to leave a little oily stain. Do any of you have nifty tricks for displaying posters and keeping them nice?

Oh yes, I used to post and comment here as [livejournal.com profile] poo_head, I've recently changed names.

I need a certain picture, and I was wondering if people with a scanner would check their decks of cards for me.

I need to find a picture of a jokers card that has a horse head on it. They were mainly in older decks. Its just a plain picture of a horse head on the jokers cards. I used to play with these kinds of decks with my grandparents and I need the picture for a sort of memorial and I dont have any old decks.

If any one can scan one or tell me where I might find online online, I would love it!
