Hey craftketeers, this is my maiden post. I have been on lj for a while but decided to make a fresh start and focus on creative/crafty stuff. Please take a look at what I've got so far. Here is the first pillow I made today for my baby.

i wore my white leather etnies in the rain with a long pair of jeans, and now the dye has run onto my shoes and left them with a blue tint that soap isnt getting out- ya'll are crafty, so i figure you might know of some way to remedy this...

My roommate's mom just made me one of her trademark "wheatbags" and I'd just love to recommend them to everyone I know. She sews 2 circular pieces of woven cotton fabric together to form a round disk, about 8" in diameter, then pours a bunch of wheatberries in to make it like a little beanbag disk, and sews it the rest of the way up. If you microwave this miraculous little jobbie for about 2-3 minutes it gets warm and toasty and smells like baking bread and will instantaneously relieve any muscle or female-related pain you might have. Apparently, you can freeze them and use them as ice-packs as well. I've got one warming my toes right now! Someone has probably already patented them somewhere, but there's no reason why everyone shouldn't make them for themselves. I love it!

NEW BUTTON SITE!!
I moved my button site to my dad's server since he doesn't use it (got the okay for the move), which leaves more space on my best friends server. yay. :P
So go HERE to see it!
You *have* to tell me what you think of the layout pictures. I took the photo last week with my camera, and it came out fantastic!
So please, girls, let me know what you think of it! And if you have any suggestions for buttons, those ideas are *always* welcome!

i checked the memories section first...but-
has anyone ever made their own shower curtain? any tips on what types of fabric to use or to not use? obviously a clear liner will be in the shower. and would the measurements just be the same as say any old shower curtain (or my existing one?).
thanks!

OK, I can't believe I forgot to mention this.

I run a zine distro and I've started taking crafts. I'll buy five+ of your craft at a wholesale rate if I really like it and want to carry it (which is probably a yes).

I'd like to see some more crafts go up on the site. I'm looking for people to submit small crafts like handbags, wallets, staionery, journals, scarves, hats, random craftiness, etc. No large fashion yet.

If you'd like to see the submission info & address, it's here: http://www.sweetanthempress.com/submit.html

Also, I thought I'd post the last thing I made:
corduory handbag )

Also...thanks so much for all the wonderful responses about the craft zine...you grrls rock...

I just crocheted myself a pair of mittens!

mittens )

It was hard, 'cos I don't know how to read patterns or anything so when I crochet I just make it up as I go along... but now I had to make two things that looked somewhat similar. And I didn't realize it until I was starting my second mitten, so I hadn't kept count of stitches or anything on the first mitten. One turned out significantly larger than the other, but I don't think anyone will notice. And I love them 'cos they're warm and fuzzy!

Its a Size K hook, all sc, with Bernat Soft Boucle yarn.

Oh! And because my livejournal is friends-only, I just started up a blog, so my friends that don't have livejournal can read as well. And, I'm a craftaholic, so a lot of it is going to be stuff I make and whatnot, so you should all go check it out and bookmark it or whatever! http://stephapelvis.blogspot.com

anybody with a link to instructions for a sweatshirt skirt? maybe one that uses the sleeves for pockets?

thanks!!
[identity profile] samuraigrrrl.livejournal.com

like these.
you know. the david lee roth jeans. the ones that have been your favorite jeans for five years, but the knees are out and the cuffs are threadbare and there's a hole just under the right back pocket... those jeans. i know you all have them. i know you all want to keep them. so what do you do with them? (^_^)
[identity profile] calliek.livejournal.com
Does anyone know how to do a wash on jeans? Not acidwash, obviously, but all the new kinds of washes? I have some jeans that look dated, but would be new and spunky with a wash on them!
[identity profile] addwag.livejournal.com
i have a whole bunch of these old bottles (sans labels) any idea what I could make with them for gifts?
[identity profile] skittlepower.livejournal.com
Weee, this is my third post here :)

im feeling creative, and have a limited supply of things.

1 plain white tile
many unused nail varnishes
orange felt, and pink cotton type stuff
silver & gold thread
colored card & paper
2 little card boxes, one round, one oval
parchment, parchment paint, glue, felt pens, ink, and oil pastel things (my moms really into parchment craft and allows me to use her stuff)
leaves
red tape, and empty drink bottles.

and i cant think or anything to do with any of it :(

any ideas will be greatly appreciated, thanks xo <3

Edit: it would help if i could spell, :D

For people who use contact lenses and like to paint stuff, this is a great tip;

Old contact lense cases with screwable lids (example: http://www.robertstanley.co.uk/html/contact_lens_cleaning_solution.html )are great for small paint/laquer projects, when you need to take a break or continue later, just screw the lid on and the paint will not dry out. They're the perfect shape for getting even the last bit of paint from the bottom of the thing and easy to clean, too. :)

I guess you could make even a bigger 'palette' by glueing many of the cases into a piece of plywood or thick cardboard (though it would maybe be a little too heavy for holding in one hand) and leaving some space inbetween for the lids.

I found this really useful when I was laquering small plant-nametag-signs (the kind you stick into the dirt, you know) and I had to wait for the laquer to dry from the other side, and didn't want to waste what I already had out of the laquer tube. :)

[identity profile] emodork.livejournal.com
if i wanted to just darken some various clothes, maybe some plaid shirts and a tee or two, would a grey dye work?
is this just not worth the effort? both/and should i just find something else similar but dark?

[identity profile] mschaos.livejournal.com
ok, I have been cross stitching like crazy and was thinking that some of the stuff I am making would make some nice gifts for the holidays...and then I though that cross stitch Tiki stuff would be really rather nifty

does anyone know where I can find patterns for cross stitch?

Question...

I'm a girl scout troop leader and I was wondering about simple crafts for 6 year old girls.. with very short attention spans.. VERY VERY short attention spans.. ? Come on crafty ladies! Thanks a ton :D

what is your favourite (personalizable) gift to make that is easy yet impressive-looking?

brag now.

i'm going to say the magnets of marble. but what else?
[identity profile] reebert.livejournal.com
We had a late Halloween party today for the American children here. I had no idea what to dress as and finally decided on being a nerd. I made up this t-shirt on my computer last night and it made me laugh. If you know a mathematician it would probably be a pretty fun gift for them.

The square is made up of a list of the first 10 thousand numbers that are in pi. :)

I painted some white Mary Janes last night using a silver krylon spray paint. This spray paint is awesome! I know I'm gonna go nuts with it on other stuff!
Any ideas????

Sooooooooo, here are dollies that I made.

I hand painted her (the one in the icon) and sewed her clothes, made her wig, and fashioned the fangs and tongue that's sticking out of the top of her head. This one's been taken, but I still have a gothic school girl with slit wrists and a plague victim.

Pictures beneath the cut..

[identity profile] sharmelon.livejournal.com
i've never used eyelets before.

how do they work?

lol. :)
[identity profile] sporkburrito.livejournal.com
So, I attempted at making a stuffed animal for the first time. It doesn't look so great. It looks like a six-year-old did it, actually. But whatever!

It's supposed to be a cat but it really looks like a mouse.

no pattern

I was going to give this to my friend for Xmas but I don't know if I'm going to anymore. It didn't turn out as awesome as I pictured. *shrug*

P.S. Check out (& bookmark & comment, if you're awesome!) my new blog.

Today it was cold out, so I decided to make some jewelry stuff. I made a bracelet in the net design along time ago...well like last month...and my sister-in-law saw it and wanted me to make her a necklace. Well I procrastinated and procrastinated because I knew it would take forever to make. But it really didn't take that long...a few hours. And it went faster once I got the hang of it. Plus it was really cold outside so what else did I have to do?

Here's a picture of me wearing it. So you can see how it lays against the skin...heh
http://public.fotki.com/BennieTheMooch/necklaces/courtneysnecklace2.html

Here's an up close picture of the design.
http://public.fotki.com/BennieTheMooch/necklaces/courtneysnecklace1.html

Sorry about the crappy picture quality. It was taken in my bathroom with my $20 Wal-Mart digital camera.
The only bad part is that everyone wants one of these...my mom wants a black and gold one, but I cannot find any gold seed beads anywhere...hermpfh.

Thanks for looking!!!

Okay crafty gals, I have a question.

I have these hello kitty glasses that I bought in a gift shop at great america this last summer. Now, when I bought them, I didn't realize they have a nosebridge piece that would only fit on a small child's face. And that stinks, because I really want to wear them. Here they are:

(just so you know, they're not that icky washed out color..they're bright pink like in the smaller pic.)
But anyway, I know this is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone know of a way I could seperate the tiny spot where the lenses connect,..and make a bigger nosebridge part out of some sort of plastic like that friendly plastic stuff from a few years ago, then re-attach the frame parts? I don't really expect anyone to come up with a solution for this because to me it sounds like a rather far fetched idea, so thanks in advance for anything guys. :)

HELP!

I made some bath salts earlier today and they are turning into a brick-- what can I do?

(i used 3 cups epsom salt, 2 cups baking soda and 2 cups celtic sea salt with about 20 drops of lavender EO)

hi all...long time lurker, first time poster.

i need help thinking of an idea for five people in my house. there are two females and three males, and i'd like to make them all something very similiar to each other for christmas. i'm a college student, so something relatively priced would work. i can do pretty much anything, craft wise.

i don't even have an idea to start with. i want it to mean something and be completely useful.

what are you guys doing in situations like mine!?! and also, what are you guys doing for your closest friends for the holidays? one of my friends is muslem...so it can't be anything too christmasy.

so family and close friends...give me ideas! thanks a bunch!

Hello, I've been watching this community for a while & I must say I am very impressed with everyones talent.
Anyway, I have looked through the memories & while the question was asked a few times it was never really answered. - I want to make a guitar strap from scratch, has anyone done this or got any ideas on how to do it?
Thanks.

ok so after mucho shopping around adn finding ZERO invites that we liked/could afford. we went DIY
here is the proto-type.
i think that it is beautiful and looks like something we would choose. the best part that even AFTER buying expensive envelopes it ends up being a whopping $1.16 per invite ( not including ink I'll let you know how that goes after we run all 150-160 off em. )
plus i get to be crafty!
after much ado here goes pictures!
