There was an awesome response to [livejournal.com profile] fadedjade's post about doing a group project which I thought was a really cool idea. I wanted to take the idea a little further by giving it a community of it's own so I made [livejournal.com profile] craftclub!

Every month a craft will be assigned and members can post ideas on how to do such-and-such craft, get help on such-and-such craft, and show everyone how such-and-such craft turned out. I'm really excited about it!

P.S. I've noticed a few other community promos here so I was pretty sure it was ok to promo one, too. If not, I'm sorry and I won't feel bad if this post is deleted.

I'd like to string up a "clothesline" (out of twine or clear fishing line - or whatever you'd suggest) to hang up some artwork (mostly 8.5 x 11 or 9 x 12 paper) with clothespins.

Problem is I'm in a rental and I'm moving at the end of the summer so I don't want to gouge the walls in a big way (a small hole that i could easily patch would be okay). So drilling into the wall or a butterfly bolt are out of the question. I'm concerned that a tack won't be strong enough to hold up the clothesline.

does anyone have any suggestions on other ways to hang a clothes line?

thanks much!

Is it possible to tie-dye fleece?? *thinking of a fabulously soft tie-dye blanket* They probably already sell tie-dyed fleece, but where's the fun in that? ;)

I want to make all of my friends cute little valentines, but I don't know where to start, other than buying colored paper and a heart-hole puncher. Does anyone have any pictures they can post, for me to draw some inspiration off of?

So, Ive seen a few posts about those several-scarves-in-one things, and I realized that I'd made this about 6 months ago, and never posted. photos behind cut )

Also, I have bought webspace and such to make a shop & sell a few handmade things. For strange checking-account reasons, I cant open a paypal account. Should I just trash the whole idea, since almost every shop I see takes paypal? Heck, even I would have a problem sending moneyorders as payment. If all else fails, I could consign at cutxpaste.com. opinions?

Thanks!

two quick questions:

1. i just bought some awesome yarn at a thrift store and was curious if there was any way of getting that old, musty smell out of it??

2. can anybody tell me where i would be able to purchase a mannequin head for displaying hats? i'm looking for the plain styrofoam kind, like the one in [livejournal.com profile] chedbrd's post here. a value village near my house had them around halloween but they've apparently stored them away until next october. :(

thanks in advance!

I would have posted these a few days ago, but someone who shall remain nameless broke my digital camera, my new one came in yesterday so i have pictures to share

i posted a week or so ago about the ampersand stamp, it was a no go, so i got a set of stencils from office depot and used that with the versamark inkpad and clear embossing powder on the cover of the invitation, it doesn't photograph too well, but you get the idea

this is the inside, i pixeled out the address of the party and my cell and home number. it says black and white attire mandatory (its a black and white party if you didn't get that already ;) )

now I only have 32 more invitations to address and send heh

Hello everyone. My name is Liz. I don't know if I've introduced myself in this community before, but I have been a member in the past... more of a lurker than anything else.

This post reminded me of how great tissue paper can be. Here's a simple project I've recently fallen in love with:

Viola! )

Most of all, I enjoy making love letters with such paper. Try it with celestial shapes and other funs things, and see what you get. I'd love to see y'all results. For a little extra oomph and the aged look, I like crumpling the paper repeatedly after it has dried. It makes it soft and kind of rustic looking.

Hopefully no one has posted this previously. It's amazing how simple it is.

Thanks to whoever made the post about the sale going on at JoAnn's. McCall's Patterns only 99cents!

I dont know if this was for the JoAnn's in my area, but the store was closing so not JUST McCalls were on sale. McCalls, Butterrick (sp?), and Simplicity were ALL on sale for 99 cents. Vogue patterns were also on sale for $1.99. I definitly picked up on this sale. I got $70 worth of patterns for just $5 , so needless to say Im pretty happy about that hehe.

One question about pattern sizes though. I picked up this one patter that I REALLY liked, but its a size BB 11/12-15/16, and Im a size A 00/0/1, or 1-3 (whatever size it is). So is there any way I can make the pattern smaller, or will I just have to fix it after I make it?
THanks!

I'm in too much of a crafty mood ^^; I spent about an hour and a half pinning the ribbons in my purse, then weaving them...wow, it was just a lot of work :D But I'm glad I did it!

I really want to make a hat in the style of the 30's/40's/50's. You know, the little "miniature hat" that sits up high and near the front of the head. I think it would be made out of felt or thick wool.
Problem is, I have no idea where to start. I looked through the faq, I googled, but there seems to be almost no info on how to make a nice hat. I have a suspicion that it involves "steaming and blocking the fabric" (I've heard that term but not sure what it means).
Any advice? Pointers? Website how-to's that you know of? This is one of those crafts that I can't just "fake it" and make it look okay!

Been a member for a couple weeks. I must say you are A L L very talented. And i've been searching the web and communities for ideas for Valentine's Day gifts. I took some of my old msuic ( i play the violin) and i burnt the edges and soaked it in tea and wrote some Brand New lyrics on it that say, "You and me could be forever, perfectly, perfect together. I know." I am gonna have it laminated and frame it and make the frame kool. I have nooooo idea what else to make him though. (i like making him things and im kinda poor.) I am also making him duct tapes roses. That i shall spray with perfume to make them appear "real." I was gonna decorate a bowl and fill it with guitar picks (he plays guitar) but i realized he has sooo many guitar picks that if i gave him more he might think of it more as a burden than a thoughtful gift.

((Any ideas?))

He likes guitar, Degrassi, snowboarding, skateboarding,MUSIC!, me ::blushes::,band shirts, earings, movies, lyrics, pirates of the carribean, finding nemo, batman, etc.

I dont want to bake him anything. Cause I dont want him to get the wrong idea like i think hes fat or something. (which i dont think he is) plus if someone gave me a bunch of cookies on Valentine's Day i'd be like ummm thanx.. i dunno. He wouldnt like a stuff animal.I like sewing things and being crafty lol. Anythign creative. Cause last year i made him something and he loaded me with presents and i want to make up for the limited items i gave him.

((thanks))

I haven't posted in awhile but I just finished this sweater for my chihuahua, Iggy. He absolutely hates the cold and snow so this has been a godsend. Its so nice to not have to see him shivering around the house anymore.

I also put in a picture of Igg in his travelbag because you can see how blue his eyes are-which is why i chose to knit the sweater in blue. (Also, it's just plain funny to see him in that bag.)

If anyone would like the pattern, let me know. It can be used for any sized dog.

Happy Crafting!

I'm looking for a way to display a postcard collection. The idea I had was to take a sheet of clear plastic (like acetate) and use that as a backing, and cutting another piece to size or slightly larger and making 'pockets' from it. (That way I can move the postcards around, and I can still see the backs, too). The only flaw in my evil plan is the glue. What kind of glue would I use? The pockets don't need to hold anything overly heavy, but they will need to be at least marginally sturdy; and I'd like it if the glue dries clear. What kind of glue or adhesive would be the best thing to use?

With everyone posting pics of their purses they made, I remembered about the one I made about a year ago... Its not nearly as good as all of yours, But I tried...

I made it out of an old pair of pants... I just cut them apart, added some black fur to the sides, and a patch. Oh... And to make the strap ajustable... I used one of the metal slider things from one of my old backpacks.

Hi!
I went to my local fabric store today and I saw some really cool bags. They were made on some kind of faux leather and had newspaper pages that seemed fused to it. They sold for like 200$ (canadian but still...) Does anyone know how to do this? I would like to make one of my own without spendind 200 bucks and/or having any Prince pictures on it!
thanks a lot :)
