I looked in memories and couldn't find anything about this.
Does anyone know how to make plastic jewelry? Such as those big chunky rings and bracelets.
Is it very complicated or can it be done by almost anyone?

I have been invited to a Carnival party--the hostess grew up in Argentina. I need quick sequiny, glittery, feathery or beady projects to make tomorrow for me and the boyfriend to wear.

We are already going to be wearing my bead garlands as they have lobster claw hooks linking them together and can be taken apart and worn as huge bead necklaces(but this is really more Mardi Gras so I don't know if I will definitely wear them).

Do you wonderful folks have any fast ideas? I did see that very recent post about a magic wand and I may make one for myself to carry tomorrow night , but I need help with my outfit. I dont' want anything too complicated, but I do want to be creative.

At Halloween I made a big oversize hat out of blue plastic and a stapled it together. It looked pretty good. I should take a photo of that. Lately my photos have not been coming out. I need a digital camera!!!! I don't want to wear the blue hat though as I want to have a Mad Hatter party in March and want to save it for that.

I am out of ideas.

I'm not sure if anyone has posted anything about this, but today is Make a Blanket Day, according to Project Linus, which is a non-profit organization that provides "love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of NEW, HOMEMADE, WASHABLE blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer blanketeers."

Today different chapters across the U.S. (I'm not sure if there are any in Canada or elsewhere) are holding sessions for people to come and make blankets for kids in need. For example, in Maine they're going to be set up in Dover-Foxcroft and in addition to providing materials, they're giving workshops about how to quilt. All they ask is that you bring your own sewing machine. So if you have a few friends and nothing to do today, check out the Project Linus website and find out if there's a chapter in a city near you.

Well, this isnt it, this is another flyer I made, but I would like one kinda like this for my wedding, but a full page instead of a quter page. with pictures of us and wedidng rings and stuff like that.

Flyer for the monthly bonfire )

so, that is the style of the flyer.. any suggestions on how to make it look really cool and still like this style? or.. is this style cool enough by itself?

audrey gorgeous, i love you! )

This was just a tshirt that I stenciled/splattered and covered part of the stencil with pink felt.
I cut the cuffs and collar off of a old dress shirt and added them onto the shirt. In order to be able to pull the shirt over my head I made a diagonal cut from the ending of the collar to the end of shoulder and closed it off with two cute buttons.
the end.

we're looking to find a way to stiffen yarn. What's the best method? Can Mod Podge be used?

thanks :)

Ok, I can't figure out this step on how to make a squash book:

Hold it in the palm of your hand, mountain fold facing up, with your thumb on one end of the diagonal fold and your forefinger on the other end along the diagonal fold. Use a finger on your other hand to press the center down while pinching in the diagonal fold, bringing the fold up and together while it collapses/squashes into a little square. *It is a good idea to make sure that the folds/creases are tight.

Can anyone explain this better? Maybe a picture would help? =)

I wanted to make some of those valentine's candy heart earrings (great idea, whoever that was!) but I can't get any of that spray clear coat fixative to preserve the hearts. Someone suggested clear nail polish; would that really work? I think it wouldn't really preserve the hearts very well, or at least not for very long. Has anyone had success with this method, or have any other suggestions? A friend of mine suggested hairspray. What do you think?

I began stencilling a shirt today, following some directions I got from the FAQ. I'm almost finished with it, but just realized that the textile medium I'm using says to let it dry for 7 days. The only problem is, I need the shirt tonight. Anyone know what will happen if I wear it before it's finished drying?

I was at B&N yesterday and I was browsing the Klutz section because I love their stuff so much. They had a book that gives you everything you need to make those picture bracelets everyone's so fond of, 'cept that they're round instead of square. But this gives those of us who aren't that great at pouring resin another way to make cool stuff, right?

The book is sold here, but all the book is is basic instructions (Put the circuluar thing over one of the included pictures or a magazine picture with one of their included sticky dots (I'm sure you could use glue) and then stick it to the bracelet backing.) and about 100 bracelet-sized images that you can punch out instead of using your own. If you just want to make the bracelets with your own images, they're available here. $8 is pretty reasonable considering how Klutz stuff is usually a teensy bit overpriced, I think. (But if anyone knows where to find this cheaper I'd love to know!)

Anyway, I just thought I'd pass that bit of knowledge along. I definitely want these!

EDIT: I just posted this entry and went back to browsing the site, and I can definitely say that these are the cutest and best things EVER.

I completed my first knitting project this morning. Well, actually it was my 2nd but my first was horrible. It's my version of the Go-Go-Garterstitch scarf from Stitch and Bitch. Two colors instead of 3.

So this is it... it was a plain black satin purse that i got from my job...i then took feather trim and hot glued it on... took single strand net backed rhinestone trim and hot glued that over the feathered trims ribbon... and then sewed the top area to keep the rhinestone and feather trim on well. I'm thinking of calling this one "carrie" since I'm so sad to see sex and the city go ::sigh::...I'm also gonna try it in a baby pink satin with baby pink maribou-ish feathers.

you know you want to )
