Does anybody have any idea how I would start making this? Or will I have to spend twenty bucks for seamlessness?

HeLLooooOoo..  I need help, and I figure this is the place to go.  :)  Anyway, I need a guest book for my wedding.  I have come to believe that every wedding guestbook ever made is horribly ugly:  white, lacy, blah.  Also, I hate those little lines that you have to sign your name on.  Am I really going to need room for 600 signatures??  Okay, I'm rambling.  So, my question is, does anyone know where to get cool sketchbooks, or something that resembles a guestbook with blank pages?  I would make one, but I have so many other wedding projects..  *sigh*  Anyone who suggests something will have a special place in my heart forever.  ;)

Drop spindle for spinning wool - You need roughly two cd's (aol's free ones work very well) a dowel about 12 - 16 inches long some rubber tubing and a small metal hook. Place the rubber tubing around the dowel and place in the center of the cd's about four inches from the top. screw metal hook into the top and spin. Contributed by Rachel Lapine, dragonflyeye@home.com

I was surfing the web looking for what kind of paint I should use on AOL cds and came up with that.

Do you grrls think flax seed is an appropriate "filler" for my dream pillows? I'm finding that it takes a LOT of herbs to fill a (roughly) 5x7 pillow, and I'm wondering if it would be okay to use flax seed to sort of help fill up the space. I just don't think packing the pillow solely with herbs is neccessary, because they are plenty potent in smaller quanitites. I *could* make the pillows smaller, but I don't think I want to. I'm keeping them fairly flat, so they can be slipped inside a regular pillow.

Ugh.

Part of my problem is that I want these to be perfect and I'm afraid of wasting materials in the process of getting there!

Help??

Hi everyone,
I want to knit a 5' by 6' blanket for a birthday present. Now, ideally, I would like to do a border of 1' by 1' squares of garter stitch alternating in green and black, with four large 1.5' by 2' retangles in stockinette stitch filling in the middle. Will the border counter the tendency of the stockinette stitching curl?

Thanks,

-Kaley

Has anyone gotten one of the wooden boxes from AOL?

I got one in the mail yesterday. "1045 Hours Free!" Since it didn't look like a tin, I almost threw it out. But then I looked closer and it's a thin wooden box, the size of a CD case. It's actually really nicely made, though covered with plastic-y looking AOL advertizing.

I think I'm going to make it into a little book.

Just wanted to let people know, so you don't throw them out thinking they are just plastic.

Lots of folks ask for these, and I just saw this on www.crafster.org, so I thought I'd post it in case anyone is interested.

This tutorial is MUCH better than the one I used previously because it has step by step pictures. This is especially helpful for those of us who are idiots when it comes to linings.

My bathroom sink is free-standing, with no cupboards or vanity. In order to camoflauge all my crap, I decided to make a bathroom sink skirt. While shopping with a friend, she found this great purple satin leopard-print fabric. I didn't use any pattern, just cut three panels of the appropriate width & length, and added a band to go all the way around the sink. The real problem is attaching the skirt to the sink. I sewed velcro to the band, and attached stick on velcro to the sink. When that didn't work I used caulking to attach the velcro to the sink, but it's still coming off on the side nearest the tub. Any ideas short of serious glue (I rent, so the skirt has to come off without incident when I leave)?

Another crafter's post of their Hogwarts scarf inspired me to post a pic of my current project. This is my first-ever knitting project - geek points to anyone who reconizes it!

This is the first thing I've ever knitted - I taught myself last weekend!

It's made with one skein of green and blue lion brand funfur, size 15 plastic needles, 15 stitches, no idea on the number of rows, but it's about 3ft long.

It took about 2 days for me to make it, but a total of 4 hours or so.

i have several miniatures that i'd like to repaint/reposition. they're plastic, or a combination of metal and plastic, painted with acrylics. destroying the paint is fine, melting or scoring the plastic isn't. from checking the faq, i'm thinking i should try denatured alcohol, but does anyone have experience with attempting to dissolve superglue or using denatured alcohol on plastic?

Just finished a little experiment. I wanted to make a bangle that would stay on my small wrists. Anyway, I came up with this. 100% polymer clay.

Someone posted a Paris Hilton stencil and asked ideas about what to put on the back. Does anyone know where that post is or where I can acquire the stencil? Sorry if this is inappropriate but I really liked that stencil. Thanks

Can I paint on a t-shirt with oil paints? This is my first time using a stencil and I want to do white paint on a black t-shirt, but all I have are my oil paints. Is that okay or will it have a weird reaction / do bad things?

I was hoping that someone still had the link to the trial issue of ReadyMade, since I've heard such good things about it.

Thanks in advance, and be expecting crafty pics from my way soon.

I want to buy a sewing machine, but I know nothing about them. Right now I have a handi stitch, but I'm sure a few of you know how crappy they are. And mine has attacked me on more than one occasion.
So craftgrrls, my question is...what are some good sewing machines out there? I figured that some of you would be experts with sewing and could help me out.
Thanks in advance!

After work today (I work at Joann ETC) I was sitting waiting outside for my boyfriend to pick me up and I spied a dirty Joann flyer on the ground. I picked it up expecting to throw it away when I noticed a 40% off coupon still attached. Someone out there is probably sad. Since it was obviously long abandoned, I didn't feel to guilty using it to buy some cute fleece I had my eye on and some lavender anti-pill fleece to go on the back (anti-pill fleece is half off rigth now). So here are some pics of my lovely no-sew fleece blanket.
