I was wondering if there was anything else you could use besides rice, eye/dream/relaxation pillows. when I used rice after about a week it stopped smelling so much like lavender and alot more like rice. ...does anyone know?

I was wondering if y'all would take a look at a t-shirt design I drew last night on a whim.
Click here. Be sure to click to see the whole image, deviantart requires really small thumbnails for GIFs for some reason. My bunny's name is Jolly Roger and I thought up that design as a joke version of the pirate flag that he's named after. ;P
Think it'll be cute? Is it too simple? Any ideas for coordinating decorations and trim?

Edit: Thank you everyone for the compliments! :D <3 <3

Well, we've finally got a digital camera, and I finally have found a semi-reliable image host, so at last I can actually post something here! Rather timely, I'd say, since I'm trying to get my business going (hand-made original and custom crafts and artistic services). So, in any case, here is some evidence that I exist and I make pretty things. :-)

That's me (only fair..I see you all the time) in my wedding dress. I designed it, compiled/combined/adjusted pieces from about 9 different patterns to make the pattern for it, found all the fabrics and trims...and had to hire a seamstress to put it all together and fit it to me, because, dern it...I had enough to do, and it is rather hard to fit a wedding dress to yourself, in any case! ::laughs::

We had a Medieval/Renaissance themed wedding, the florals of which were roses and ivy, and the colors of which were rose and green. Back then a bride would never have worn a white gown (they believed it would have attracted malevolent spirits jealous of the joys of the living), but my parents, funding the exploit at the time, could not be convinced that historical accuracy was any good reason for me to come down the aisle in something like burgundy. And so, I compromised...I used a white, rose-brocade satin, a rose and green tapestry fabric, rose woven ribbon trim, and beaded green ivy-shaped applique.

Seeing as one of the things I plan to offer is costume/garb design, beading, and seamstressery...what do you think? :-)

I decided to try a plaster project without really knowing what in the world I'm doing. I bought a skull mold and it's a two piece mold, the face and the back of the head. Everything set and came out fine.
Now my question. How do you go about attaching the two pieces together? any ideas ladies?

I looked through the FAQ about this but didn't see anything, so I am hoping someone here has some ideas.

I have a down feather blanket for about a year and it is leaking feathers like crazy. At first I thought, hey its new it will stop. It hasn't. I checked it for holes and cannot find any. The feathers are just coming out the material. And they are everywhere.

I have done everything I can think of but with no success. I have tried washing it and putting it in the dryer to get rid of the "extra" feathers - no luck. I have two duvet covers on it going opposite directions - no luck.

Any ideas? Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

I have a question or maybe a request. Is it better to put our posted craft pics behind a cut? I think it is, but perhaps no one else minds. It just slows down my friends page, a lot. Could we do that?

hello all, I am new so I thought I'd post some picks of my craftyness.
I went online looking for old dinner plates with atomic patterns and mod designs and whatnot, but they were all over priced and brittle, sooo I decided to go the department store and buy a bunch of cheap white plates, and then go to plaza and buy ceramics paints, and behold. Fun mod looking plates.
I made serval patterns, but the other two are all being used right now.

I have these adorable Bon Bon postcards that my aunt gave me and I have no idea what to do with them. I don't mail out postcards so right now they are just sitting on my desk. Any ideas?

I've become completely enamoured with puffed sleeves, I think they are just so sweet!
I bought some amazing vintage fabric from the thrift store the other week, and I can just see it as a summer short sleeved blouse.

I've been looking at patterns, but I can't seem to find anything with puffed sleeves (and not like huge sleeves, something like this:

(built by wendy blouse!))

How would I modify a pattern to a lot more room in the top of the sleeve, to make it puffed, and how would i do the actually 'puffing' itself?
I've never actually sewn a blouse before, but I have used a pattern, and taken a sewing class, so I think I know a little about modifying patterns.

another post, I know I've been a royal pain in the ass lately, I searched the posts, and I looked in memories/ faq but does anyone know if there are like screw in eye hooks that I can use for conversation heart earrings, do you know if such things exist and where I could get them. If not, does anyone know how I can attatch them to the fish hook earring. Sorry guys I know I've been posting a lot lately, I'm just making easter presents and some other stuff for my friends. Thanks

i have just begun to crochet.
i've always wanted to know how, but never took the time to learn and well, i was a bit intimidated by the patterns.
they are like a completely foreign language!
but the other day, i picked up a better homes and gardens book from 1977... in the back of this book are the basic stitches and instructions for crochet and knitting.
i think i chose crochet because it only has one hook, as if that would somehow make things less complicated.
i got the hang of chain stitch...
and then single crochet!
and then double crochet!
and this strip is what i have so far:

ok, this is a sewing question and i know this isnt soley a sewing community, but i didnt want to just join some community only to ask this one question.

.::.anyway, enough wordiness.::.

i have this date party thing with my lacrosse team this weekend and im wearing a dress that i had previously stitched the "V" neck a little bit to not be as revealing. (seriously, i handstitched it maybe for about the width of half a fingernail) well i've gotten bold, and i took the stitching out and i would rather wear it without the stitching and be a bit more risque.

heres the question: i guess the fabric tugged a little on either side of the "v" of my dress and although it doesnt look like a snag at all, its a little pulled out. Is there any way i can smooth it out?? (i hope this was clear, in my head it sounded it but who knows, my head isnt always reliable, lol)

We made paper in my Plants and Human Well-Being Class yesterday
I love going to Cornell )
Sorry for the crappy pic, but thats what a poor college student with poorer parents can give you XD These aren't all the pieces I made, they just illustrate the colors. The red hearts are the excess pulp from the red sheet you can see in the bottom. The blue is sort of a faded grover-blue. And that blob of undistinguisable light color is sort of a pink vomit color, speckled with various other colors. Just like vomit. It's pretty and disgusting at the same time. Some day I'll have a digital camera that shows colors better. Or I'll flatten all the paper and scan it. Either way, the red came out pretty close, the blue is washed out, and the pink vomit is.. not showing as pink vomit XD

Anyway, thanks to a class called "The Art of Horticulture" (last semesteR) I am back in touch with my crafty side, and i'm so glad I remembered how much I love crafting... Because I realize that not crafting was part of why I was so darned depressed all the time! Plus it helps me cope with my mom's death (she died a few weeks ago). Yay for craftiness!

Hey.

Weird question. Could I make this?

How would I do it?
