My daughters talked me back into making a pillow out of the square of Noro Kureyon that I knitted up a while ago. I was going to just unravel it and make mittens but this turned out to be faster. So with their help we made a pillow this morning:( Two small pictures of the pillow )

Logo and paint results...
Mar. 13th, 2004 11:05 am
Here it is folks. This is the logo for the store I'm going to open in about a month methinks. I'm SOOOOO excited! I made about a dozen and this was the winner. Thanks
This probably tells you what colors the storefront ended up. Blue was the color winner but every blue we could find that went with the deep blue looked close to the purple we already had. So we tried green and I love it.
I'll post pics as soon as I get a few things in the storefront to make it look habitable.
A bunch of people were asking so here's the shop list.
The store will carry:
handspun, hand-dyed yarn
hats, purses and other crochet items made from said yarn
my paintings and drawings
weavings by my partner Kara
ceramics
painted furniture
drop spindle kits
The store will have classes in:
weaving
painting
felting
crochet
drawing
spinning
soapmaking for kids
sewing for kids
and probably a "for kids" version of everything else listed above
THANK YOU SO MUCH everyone who gave me input, inspiration and encouragement. This is actually going to happen! More to come!
OH and it's going to be in East Moline, IL in case was wondering.

Film canister use
Mar. 13th, 2004 02:02 pmAll the junk on my computer desk led me to a good use for those empty plastic film canisters. For anyone who does art stuff with bottle caps, they are great storage containers. I had piles of bottle caps lying around and now I can sort them by design in the film canisters.
please help!
Mar. 13th, 2004 02:09 pmquestion!:
if you were buying bath salts & salt scrub would a glass jar keep you from buying the item?
the reason why I'm asking is because I bought plastic jars but they are funky shaped so I cant get the dang label to fit smooth, but the glass jars are nice and round so the label should fit nicely. I was just afraid people wouldn't want to use glass jars in their bathroom, especially in the shower (for the salt scrub) since they are breakable? PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS!!

Airplane earrings
Mar. 13th, 2004 02:31 pmI checked memories.
I bought these really cool glass airplane beads at the flea market...I have a crappy camera or else I would take pictures.
Anyways, the hole lays in them thru the center. I want to make earrings out of them so it looks like they are flying.
I've got the earrings and the beads, but I have no idea how to connect them.
It is not the posts, but the other earrings....I forget what they are called...sorry.
Anyways...the best way to make the earrings...should I use string or wire to connect the beads to the earrings?
And also, I saw tons of cigar boxes at the flea market...I want to try making some purses sometime. Awhile ago this girl, I think she posted in here, made a really cool lego one and I wanted it bad, but I am poor...heh heh...Now I can make my own!!
Anyone ever made them before? Any tips?
Thanks.

Mar. 13th, 2004 07:05 pmI don't know if anyone remembers, but I was working on a Sirius Black jacket a while ago. Well, it's finally finished! It's an orange jacket/zip-up hoodie with a piece of black fabric crudely stitched on the back with a white Sirius Black stenciling job on it. I'm not done stitching up the right side but this is the only time I have the web camera and you get the idea anyway, heh.

I plan on wearing it when I go see 'Prisoner of Azkaban'... and when I go to school and get ridiculed for being a Harry Potter geek.

Oh the wonders of modern techonolgy
Mar. 13th, 2004 07:59 pmHey I just got one of those bleach pens.
Two questions:
1. Is it safe to use with stencils?
2. Would it work well on a black cotton/spandex shirt?

Mar. 13th, 2004 08:39 pmSo my boyfriend and I collaborated on the most awesome present in the world...a PADDLE. We made it for a friend's birthday, but still have to finish it up. I need some help though. The paddle is made and painted, but I wanted to add studs on parts of it. I'm wondering what should I use/how should I do it? The paddle itself is made out of solid maple, and painted with a coat of white spray primer. What studs can I use on wood, where can I get them, and how would I affix them? This will definitely be used, so they have to be practical, not just decorative. I'm at a loss. Also, any other suggestions on what I could add to it? I'm going to wrap the handle in leather, but that's as far as I've gotten.
Also, what coating should I use on it? The image is a sticker printed from my ink jet printer, so I don't want to use anything that might make it run or smear. Would spray lacquer work, or is there something else I should use?
( Click here for a good time! )
