I am so in love with this style of amish quilt lately:

I can't do the fancy pants hand stitching quilt patterns but I can dye cotton flour sack towels with double the normal about of dye and make a quilt that way (and just do simple quilting in squares and think of it as loving homage or something)

I'm really proud of how the fabric came out, really bright and clear, and the assembly/sewing isn't that complex (esp as I'm only aiming for a lap/crib quilt).

yay quilting!

Does anyone know how to find craft shows? Like is there a website, or something like that? I want to get a table in one, but I don't know where to find them. :(

I'll post some crafts later on... I have to upload some pics, still.

Does anyone in this group work with preschoolers or have they ever?

I'm looking to find a sewing pattern for cot sheets for cots like this one. If I make it back on with Head Start when I move, I want to make my own cot sheets so they are identifiable from the other classrooms (plus we tend to lose a ton of them over the school year and to buy them, its $12 a PIECE!).

Thanks in advance if anyone can answer this, I know its rather random.

So, my boy is not a big fan of crochet...he gives me buff for it rather frequently..searches for "crochet addicts anonymous" to help me in my obsession.. Yeah, you can tell we are super serious kids..haha..anyhow.. He is a huge Pacman fan...he even has a pacman tattoo on his arm..

I figure for his 21st that is coming up in July I will crochet him a blanket (he is also a fan of being very warm since he has bad circulation) with a pacman motif..

I kind of know what I want...I am almost thinking it will just be a big pacman screen..ya know, black with the little white dots, a few cherries, pacman, and the bad guys (god, he would kill me for not using the propper terms, hahaha).. But I need to somehow graph a picture so I have somewhere to start..

Does anyone know where I can find a free program online that I can put pictures onto a graph...almost like a cross-stitch pattern of sorts!? I don't know if that makes sense, it makes sense to me.. I just need black graphing lines to go over a picture.. Yeah..hehe.. Sorry, my mind doesn't work sometimes..

Any help is much appreciated.. Thanks everyone!

Does anyone know if those small squares of felt are machine washable? I just bought one at Joann's yesterday, and i want to make a small patch to put on some washable slippers I have. The felt I bought is by Kunin felt, so I checked their website, but I can't seem to find the same felt that I bought. Any help would be great, thanks.

What's the difference between:

Gold plate and
Gold filled and
Gold vermeil?

It's kinda important, as I'm looking for earring findings for allergic friends. The web hasn't been very useful- I'm more confused than before I searched.

If you can point me in a better direction to ask this, please do.

okay, so i have this shirt )

and i want to make the sleeves shorter, and take the shoulders up because they're not quite on my shoulders. however, i can't figure out how to do this. i tried it on one sleeve and it ended up with the sleeve being fine and what i wanted and all, but the main shirt part got all poofy at the shoulder...i hope these pictures help illustrate that )

so how would i accomplish this without poofiness? =\

EDIT> oh yeah, i took that shoulder up in a way that i can rip out the stitches and still have the original shirt (i haven't cut it yet) so i just ripped out the stitches on the poofy shoulder...

My boi has invested in a digital camera, so finally I have pix to share of my knitting! Woohoo!

I'm afraid my web skills are next to useless, so all I can do is provide a link to my various wee knitted creations that I've been making lately :-)

Clicky here for jumper, hat, fingerless gloves and other knitted things...

Hi!
I want to cover a pair of boots with black glitter so they look like this (http://www.howcool.com/Demonia%20New/PL-STACK-301-GLIT.htm).  But, I do not want to leave a trail of glitter behibd me as I walk.  Any idea how I could get the glitter to stay there?

Thank you very much

I've been using this link so often that I thought I'd share it. It's got some fabulous stamping techniques for anyone interested in scrapbooking/cardmaking/altered books.

I love these boots at Delias and was wondering what kind of paint would be best for making some of my own, it would need to be flexible, waterproof, and not chip-prone. Any suggestions for paint and or sealers?
