Hello everyone, I'm new. I didn't see anything against posting introductions in the rules, so I figured I'd go for it.

I've always considered myself crafty, and I did a lot of sewing through most of high school, including my prom dress and what's become a wardrobe of clothing for Renaissance Festivals as well as several casual wear skirts. Unfortunately, being at college has reduced my ability to sew (which makes me sad) so I've kind of moved onto paper crafting, cards, stamping, origami, embossing, etc.

Reading all the posts here as already given me tons of inspiration, and I'm so glad to find a community of such talented people :)

I looked in the memories of course, and I couldn't find it.. if its in there, please direct me and delete this post??

I've found fabric glow paint and a glow paint by plaid that is water washable, but it flakes off.

I don't want fabric paint and I want some glow paint thats permanent.

Do you guys know of any? (brand names, stores to buy from, etc)

Thanks! :D

My son Jaden turns three on Friday. My husband and I have stainless steel travel mugs, and Jaden loves them. He drinks "tea" (soy milk and a splash of chai) all the time from "mamas mug".

For his birthday, I'd like to buy him one and decorate it somehow. I don't usually do crafts like this, so I don't know if I could paint it, or decoupage it, or anything like that, but I'd like to be able to paint it. It'd need to be something that would stay on steel pretty well and hold up to washing. If nothing else, I could just pull out my rotary tool and polish a design into it, but I'd kind of like it to be colorful if at all possible. Any ideas?

the process didnt go as smoothly as i had hoped... the first ribbon i bought wasnt grosgrain, so it wasnt holding up well enough with the rings. so i had to stitch it to a piece of stronger ribbon (by hand - a sewing machine is definately at the top of my to-purchase list). it came out pretty well enough, but certainly nowhere near perfect.

anyway, here it is!

I am going to graduate from college in five weeks (yay!) and I would like to send out handmade graduation announcements. The thing is, I've never really seen them, so I don't know what they should say. I'm also looking for help with design ideas. I looked through the FAQ but there wasn't anything along this line.

Cheap ideas get a gold star. =)

hi there. after a little hang up with a terrible "learn to crochet" kit (i wrote a review for you gals a few weeks ago) i finally finished my first crochet project. indeed. just rows and rows of single and double and triple crochet repeated, no pattern. i used an "h" size hook, so it's quite a bit more dense than i would have liked, but i'll know better next time, won't i?! i still need to weave in the ends of yarn where i changed colors and i suppose block it (how's that go again?) so that it won't be so... lumpy...? any suggestions concerning that are encouraged and will be appreciated! the point here is that it's a baby afghan (or play mat) for my baby due at the end of july and was inspired by the fact that i've been craving neapolitan icecream since her conception i think. (^_^)

I made my first record bowls on saturday night! I got the records at a thrift store for about $2.00 for 3 of them. I just had to say, WOW they are so much easier to make than I thought they would be, and they came out looking really cool on my very first try. I think I'm addicted. Sorry I don't have pix cuz my camera's battery died but I'll post some later, I put some house plants in two of the bowls and used the other one as a candy dish for my tootsie rolls!
UPDATE: Here's the pic FINALLY!

Photo album

I hit the Paper Source again a few weeks ago, and bought an overpriced photo album kit. I love the paper, and it was nice to learn to make an album - next time I'll save some money by buying the materials separately...

EDIT Thanks, everyone for letting me know that the picture was too large. I certainly apologize, and will be much more careful in the future. Six posts in an hour telling me to lj-cut is a little redundant, though.

so i made this easter basket for my boy...it's a long distance thing so i thought it'd be nice to send him something. the only thing i really did to the basket is wrap ribbon down and then up the handle, then tied a bow at the top and let it hang down. i put 12 multicolored eggs (the plastic kind you put stuff in) in basket and each one has a peice of paper in it that says something i love about him. this basket also includes a mix cd i made, garabage pail kids cards, and "alkaline trio", "bright eyes", "death cab for cutie", "blood brothers", "curl up and die", and "you and i" 7 inches. i also made him the robot love shirt that was shown in an ealier post.

I don't know if anyone has seen this or not, but I didn't see anything about duvet covers in the FAQ and I came across this
http://www.karass.nu/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=512
while trying to find a duvet cover for cheap. I think it is a wonderful idea because duvet covers are so much! I plan on making one and will have pictures when its done.

i hope no one cares that this is a "t-shirt surgery" and that i don't care to join that community, so i'm posting it here.

sorry, again, about the picture quality.
