I've made a couple of bags recently, partially because I was bored and partially because I needed a diaper bag to send to the childcare place with my daughter. I made this one first because I have a ton of this sushi fabric, but then remembered that I had the pink polka dotted fabric, so I made that one too.
pictures )
Anyhow, they're big enough to hold everything and they don't take too long to make. I am making a felt & fabric pin to dress up the pink one, because it's kind of boring, and will probably be doing something to the sushi one too.

I took pictures while I was putting in the lining, in hopes that they would help someone else out. I know that the first time I tried to sew a lining in the bag, I couldn't quite visualize what I was supposed to be doing. I don't know why it was so hard, but at the time it was. I even ended up sewing it so that the handle ended up between the bag and the lining. I'm going to write that up and post it in a moment.

I'm going to put this behind a cut, because the pictures are large.

This is a costume I made for a video project. It's made of cardboard, carpet seam binders, astroturf, scouring pads, duct tape, sponges, and a few bits of fabric. The duct tape that binds the rings together are on opposite poles, so it jiggles when you wiggle... which is kinda neat.

Last week I made a necklace. It was raining out so I wanted to make something blue...heh...And I was suppose to be writing a paper, but I decided to make a necklace instead.
It is simple, yet cute. I wore it last friday and everyone loved it.

My Rain Necklace )

I was thinking of doing them in other colors too...like pink and white, pink and black, black and white...etc...I dunno yet.

i finished making my first corset yesterday, it's an underbust corset without a front busk(my next one will have a busk for sure) it's got a silk outer layer, cotton canvas to shape and poly. lining with steel boning and 12 eyelets in the back. the back is kind of messed up, but luckily, the lacing kind of obscures it. enjoy.
lace me up! )

Ideas?

I would like ot make a hat/coat rack for my daughters room. Hopefully something a little more exciting than those wood peg racks but i would like it to hang on the wall. Though, verticly or horizontally, it doesn't matter because i have a few places in there i could put one.
I'm fairly craft-able and have alot of paint and brushes and such but it's the actual concept that i'm having the trouble with.
Her room is decorated with murals on the walls of giant animals from the John Lennon collection by Carter's and all her bedding matches that theme.
Does anybody have any super crafty and uber creative ideas for something that i could make myself?

Hi everybody,
I very recently came across this awesome site and signed up as quick as I could. Now I have a question. I looked around for this, but I can't find anything. Does anybody know how to decorate glasses? The kind you drink out of? I didn't really want to paint them, I want them to look a little more polished, where the picture or pattern looks and feels kind of like a sticker, but doesn't wash off. I'm not really set up to do anything humongous or anything that involves firing, but I wondered if anyone had any ideas.

Hi...I'm not new but I have never posted before because I don't have a digital camera. Well, I made this book at my mom's and took the pics with her camera. It's a little notebook made with a Lipton Soup Mix box.

I put a little plastic pocket in to hold little things like stickers!

Can anyone recommend a safe, cheap site to get screeprinting done for shirts? I'm looking for a site that has a focus on small-order needs (Ie: A single-color screenprint order of only like five shirts). The reason I said recommend a 'safe' site, is because I've read the privacy statements and license agreements of a few sites (including Cafepress) and parts of the legalese grants them the right to use your copyrighted material without attribution. Scary, eh?

Any help would be much appreciated!

so ive been wanting to do these for a long long time and finally got the time.i used the excellent tutorials in the faq.one thing i did figure out myself is that lightbulbs with a longer neck seem to make it easier to break the inner glass.

Hi - I've been lurking in this community for quite some time, but this is my first post. I've recently come into possession of an old partial set of encyclopedias. I plan on using some of the pages for wallpapery type stuff (I haven't tried to figure out how to do that yet - but all in good time), some of the pictures for framed pictures and them some of the books I'm planning on hollowing.
Thing is - there are LOTS of them and even after going through with my plans, I'll still have lots of them left. Any ideas on what I could do with them other than the ideas I've already come up with? Thanks for your help!

hey ladies....i was just wondering how sturdy a handsewn purse is? im not too keen on using a sewing machine, and i got VERY bored on monday. i handsewed a purse out of some old jeans (it is awesome) and it seems to be pretty sturdy, but will it hold for long? thanks much.

It's not very crafty, but I made some magnets. I used my Hello Kitty button maker, but instead of the pin backs, I used silicone glue to attach magnets.

Does anyone know of any places online (other than eBay) that I can buy the button parts?

oh! my first post, and probably pretty
cliche... I just learned how to knit/crochet
[collective groan] and i thought i would
share. the first is a green! hat i crochet-ed
(i love green)
and the second is a little zippy cat-toy mouse
i made for my friend liz's six (!) illegitimate
cats that live in her small small apartment.

I just finished this handbag for my sister. I made one with a fox for myself a while back, and she really wanted me to make her one. The applique was a bitch!!! Rar. She HAD to choose a lemur... The eyes, nose, and tail stripes are all embroidered by hand. But the worst part was definitely trying to machine-satin stitch around the edges.
