Sure, you've seen them before. But these are the first ones I've ever done and they are SO MUCH FUN! What am I talking about? Record Bowls! )

Warning: There are 11 pictures behind the cut. I went a little crazy and I'm not done yet. Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with them.

Hi, I just thought I'd add a silly post. My son has been reading the book "Bunnicula" about a vampire bunny that sucks the color from vegetables(one of my all time faves), tonight we made Bunnicula veggies (notice the little teeth marks, lol)! Also a puffer/porcupine fish he made and named "Spikey".

Is there any reason I can't use the graphics and things that came with my Create-A-Card software on products I am selling? I'm thinking of it as clip art that I've purchased. Does that mean I can use it for whatever I want? How can I find this out for sure? I've checked the README file in the software but it doesn't say anything about using the graphics in this way. Some of the graphics within the package include a little copyright mark - does this mean I am free to use it as long as I don't claim I designed it, or does that mean I'd better not use it under penalty of horsewhipping? BTW, what I want to use these graphics on is labels for various body products. Bad? I am trying to track down the booklet and paperwork that came with the software to see if there is any clear info. in there, but wonder if any of you know off the tops of your pretty little heads whether or not this is allowed.

*Goes back to the FAQ and googles*

next on my list is a wallace or a gromit, or a womble :D first i need more stuffing, though.

I also made some arm warmer type things on sunday. nothing interesting, but theres pictures behind the cut anyways.. 2x2 rib for all of it.

Maybe I missed the memo on this, but melted 45's make great tea-light candle holders! Those suckers pop right in and don't fall out!

Yesterday I won this fabulous fabric on ebay. It's only about a 36x36 inch square, so it's not really big enough to do any clothes, so I've been trying to figure out what on earth to do with it. I was thinking maybe a purse, but it's such cool fabric that it would have to be an equally cool purse design. Have any of you craft gurus seen any cool retro purses that would look good in this fabric? I just need a picture, not a pattern. Thank you much.

i'm wanting to make a skirt...and the fabric i have is very stretchy, which is good. but it also seems quite flimsy...so could i put a different fabric underneath it? or would it ride up? or something...
help!

I've been a bit bored at work and with nothing better to do than play with paper and my computer, I decided to make a folded-paper-heart tutorial. These guys are nice to write little love notes in, or if you're creative I'm sure you can come up with other things to do with them.

I don't think I've shared this necklace with [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl yet. It's got a resin crow skull on it from Catalyst Studios and two cat leg bones my sisters found for me, off of a cat who had an unfortunate run-in with a train. It's black and natural colored hemp, and it's pretty comfortable.

I was looking through the FAQ again, and I thought I'd share my experience in this matter ; if you want to decoupage/lacquer over printed stuff (ink jet), it bleeds, doesn't?
I solved this problem by applying a very thing coat of Eri Keeper (Now, I live in Finland and I think this is a Swedish brand, but; it is white goo and dries clear, and can be thinned with water, your usual basic craft glue. It says that the glues is based on 'The dispersion of PVA, if that says anything to anyone O_O. After reading about glues here is craftgrrl and around, I think Elmer's glue would be something like it? Anyways, at least it worked for me when I tried to use craft lacquer over some printed pictures of mine. First glue, let dry, if it curls, put it between few books and let it straighten, then lacquer and drying and straightening.

And then the second question; I'm thinking about getting an cheap/free little nightstand or chest/etc. from a flea market, and I think I'd be cool to decoupage it with music note paper (eek, I think someone here did it already? ;) ) and I also saw a bunch of note paper in the thrift store, but they're mostly white. I think I'd be cooler if the paper looked kind of 'old' and stainy.(well, at least old)
I wonder how that could be done to the paper? First thing I thought about was tea-dying, but I don't think it works too well with paper...? :D
Or, maybe the papers coulds be ironed/stuck into the oven for a while to make them brown? Any more ideas? Craftgrrl rocks =P

This is my first actual post here. I've actually done a lot of crafts recently, but they've been for other people and I forget to photograph them before I give them away.

Here it goes... )

Hello! I'm in search of a heavy gloss to use on a painting (acrylics and oils on canvas). I'm looking for something that I can best describe as like clear nail polish, but very thick, that will (eventually, after a few coats) make a thick, smooth gloss.

Any suggestions for brands and/or specific items?

Thanks!

I know this isn't all that crafty, but I was wondering if anybody knows how to make a ring out of a $1 bill. I saw somebody do that one time and now I want to make one.. hehe

Yay. I recently made a purse for my friend for her birthday out of cardboard, starburst wrappers, and lots of tape.I also added a fake flower for a cute touch.

Oh my God Becky, look at her butt... )

I saw a darling little purse over the weekend at a boutique shop... pressed flowers between clear vinyl. They wanted $49 for it. *faints*

While I have no knowledge of the workings of vinyl, and can't seem to press flowers worth a darn, I immediately thought of this community, and "admired" the purse some more, intending to come back here and explain what it was, so perhaps it could inspire craftiness in others. :)
