So, I saw these sandals and I absolutely fell in love. I haven't actually tried them on (although I probably will in a few weeks when I go down to Charleston) but I have really wide feet, and in general, shoes don't fit me. (Which is a pain, a major major pain.)

So anyway, I was thinking about recreating them myself, except that any flip-flop shoe I'd find that would fit me would be gross and plasticky. And even if I did find a nice leather or cordoroy shoe, I've never worked with leather before, so I'd have no idea how to do the dove and olive branch.

Anyone have any good ideas?

Thanks :)

(I feel lame because I don't have a digital camera, so none of my crafts ever get posted, but I love this community, it gives me so much inspiration!)

As I lost my all time favorite jacket from last winter I needed a new one. None of this season's stuff could possibly live up to my old one and thus I balked at spending heaps on something I didn't love. Instead I went to the thrift store and got a whole bag full of daggy clothes for $5 including this 'loverly' piece:

Is there hope for it!?!?! )

hello there. i meant to post this about a week ago, since that is when i made this, but i moved and forgot all about crafty goodness. but now i'm settled down, so you all get to see the skirt that i threw together from fabric and ribbon remnants at wal-mart (i used the tutorial in the faqs that is for the awesome ducky skirt, but changed it a little).

skirtalicious. )

I am moving into a studio/efficiency apartment next week and am agonizing over the bed issue. I need something tiny - the size of a twin bed or smaller - and aesthetically appealing. Something that can be tucked in a corner and hidden by a cute room divider.

diy daybeds? a fresh take on the old matress-on-the-floor look? If anyone has any innovative bed solutions, please, suggest away.

My sisters birthday is tommorow.
My plan is to make like a gift basket for her. I wanted to get her a bunch of random, fun things and put them in something.
I don't know what I want to put all the things in tho. The only idea I have is a beach bag. But I'm not sure if I like that idea. Does anyone have any creative ideas on what I can put a bunch of random things in?

For those of you who make chainmail, do you make jewelry? What kinds of clasps/closings/findings/whatever you like to call them do you use/make? I have a 4 in 1 european bracelet that's 7 links wide and I don't know how to close it, arg! Aswell, how do you make your rings, do you use side cutters or do you use a jeweler's saw and jig? Where did you get those tools? If you use side cutters do you find that the links don't close tight enough and sometimes they drop?
Sorry about all the questions, I'm obviously just beginning my adventure into chainmail creation, anything would help!

Okay, i was wondering if someone could help me...In a few weeks, I am going to go to this place, it's for children up to about 16 years old, that have cancer, some sort of disability, or that there parent's didn't take care of them, and I am going to be giving away some of my old toys and books, that are basically like new. My mom got 2 boxes today, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me way's that I could decorate the boxes? There are just plain cardboard boxes, and i don't want to take them looking plain like this. The children don't know that i am doing this, and i want this to be a pleasant sursprise and the first thing they will see are the boxes, so I want it to look pretty. In one box, I am going to have Barbies, and other little things that I can find. This will be for like the 2-6 year olds. In the other box, I will be putting books, some puzzles, furbies, and other little activity's for the older ones. Also, does anyone have any suggestion's of little inexpensive things i can get also? Thank's so much!

I have a hoodie I stenciled on a while ago
and started thinking that I want to embroider something similar to this on it
(probably not exactly the same and with color instead of grayscale)

I was wondering how I should do this so it stays through being worn a lot and washed sometimes...

would I be able to just do it directly on the hoodie?
would I need to put a piece of fabric on the inside to better hold the thread?
do I just need to give in and do it on fabric to make a patch and then sew that on my hoodie (not so enthused about that option, though)?

thanks

For those that may be interested, I recently had to get glasses and because I didn't want a boring and very plain eyeglass case, I made the following: the billy zane and vin diesel eyeglass case )

Finally....
I've been SO addicted to spinning I haven't had a moment to actually MAKE something nice with my own yarns. that can be a painful thing. So I took one of my ladies off the shelf and made this lil number.

I call her Bubblegum Flapper.
The nubbley part is crochet and the band is knit copper yarn. It's on the small side. Small adult. Not like child size.

Hope you enjoyed checkin her out!

Bottle caps are my latest obsession. A few months ago, I posted a question about bottle caps. I was trying to look for ideas about a mirror I had bought for .25 at a flea market. I couldn't figure out to attach the "appendages". Anyway, the first picture is mine and the second picture is my inspiration.

Long time ago I asked for instructions on how to make a license plate purse, and someone gave me a link. Anyway, with the help of my good ol' dad, I made one. =)

See it )

The straps right now are temporary, until I get something besides ribbon. The purse doesn't hold much but I still like it! The purse is lined with this black foam stuff. And my dad put some stuff along the edges to make it so they weren't sharp... but I forgot what it's called, sorry!

i went to three stores today (including joann fabrics and michaels) and none of them stocked or even had heard of felting needles.

does anyone know who carries them?
i'm sure i could find them online if i looked but i'm more interested in stores.

i looked in the faq and there is only one post about felting.

I just booked my first wedding so I wanted to make the bride a little thank you note

The mat for the thank you stamp is amber colored cardstock that i smeared with a metallic gold ink pad and then embossed with UTEE and some gold embossing powder.

The thank you stamp itself is stamped on a melon colored card stock. I embossed the thank you in gold then covered it with a small pile of UTEE and heated it from the bottom so it gave it a laquered finish then i tore the edges which tore fabulously because of the thickness of the UTEE.

It's accented with orange, chocolate, and sage green fibers, a little paper rose that i hand colored and a little metal arrow.

Thanks :)

Alright, I was wondering if any of you ladies had any ideas for me. I have one of those sugar roses that you get on cakes and the like. ( i hope your all following this) and I was wondering if there was something I could use to keep it and make it strong so it wouldnt crumble so I could make something for it. I was thinking like a clear enamel type thing. Actually my first thought was just to paint a few coats of clear nail polish on the thing, but I dont know it that would melt it or not.
Any thoughts?
Thanks. (ps I know I sort of ramble..)
