The last time I asked for advice on some upcoming projects I got some great feedback! And I thank you all for that :] One great suggestion was that I make Windchimes. I really want to do this and I think it would be fun. I searched the internet and the community FAQ for ideas on what to make windchimes out of but I didn't find much. I want to make them out of something that isn't typical ( i.e. silverware ). But I think it would be wise to use some metal parts to get the sound.

Any tips on what kinds of things I could turn into windchimes?

While at Joanns today my cashier told me that Joanns also accepts Michaels coupons from newspaper flyers. And vise versa, Michaels is willing to take Joanns coupons.

I was ecstatic, and thought I should tell others who didn't know.

Has anyone ever made a slipcover for a futon before? Are there patterns available or no, because futons vary in size? I'd love to make a futon cover, but I'm wondering at how it would turn out with my mediocre sewing ability. :) Perhaps a giant throw would work best. *heh*

i knew i would be bored yesterday, so while i was downtown i picked up these blah 99 cent coasters

and regardless of my uncrafty-ness, with the cutting out of pictures and mod podging them on, they now look like this )

Can any recommend a good book/tutorial on paper quilling? My local scrapbooking offers classes periodically, and I've tried to take one for about a year an a half. However, I'm always only one of two people who signs up, and the class always, always gets canceled (it just happened AGAIN). I'm thinking it's about time to take matters into my own hands. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Does anyone have a ton o' bottlecaps looking for a home? I'm going to cover a tabletop with them, only I don't want to end up chugging a bunch of beer just for the caps. *hehe* Anyway, I will gladly cover the shipping/whatever costs you think will occur. Let me know! :)

This is what I made my mom for mothers day.
I bought a basic clay pot and painted it blue. I then took toothpicks and dunked them in different colored paint and put designs over the blue...after it dried. I made clouds, swirlies, suns, flowers...etc.
I then made her 8 different colored beaded flowers. I made them mini sized.
I took a foam egg that I had bought from the craft store, a styrofoam one and painted it green. After it dried, which took FOREVER, I glued it inside the pot. I then covered it with some fake grass I had laying around.
The beaded flowers are made from seed beads and whatever circle beads I had laying around.
Everyone loved it. Even if you can't see it too well in the pictures, it turned out so pretty
I made it for her because every year I get her flowers and every year she kills them. So this year I made her flowers she cannot kill.

My friend Mandy went to Japan for a semester and brought back all sorts of neat stuff including this skirt/leggings outfit. The leggings were a bit baggy (we called them 'Hamburgler pants') so I cut the legs off mine, flipped them upside down, and turned them into this:

OK I looked through the memories and found stuff about organizing the crafty area but what about the desk area?
I'd like to make some stuff to keep organized such as maybe a hanging file, a disk holder and some other things.
Any ideas?

Tiki baby!

Baby showers sort of freak me out.
My good friend in an instance of questionable wisdom has allowed me to throw her one of these events for her little Tess who is about to bust out into the big beautiful world. More importantly she has given me carte blanche to do it just like Frank Sinatra -
My way.
So like a depraved Miss Manners I threw out all the sacred tenets of baby shower etiquette.
I invited men. I purchased liquor. I bought tiny plastic monkeys.
I boldly sent out tiki themed invitations with a sated gladness in my heart knowing that people will be celebrating the precious arrival of a tiny new life while holding drinks with flaming garnishes.

For those attending who still maintain that level of discomfort no matter how compelling hors oeuvres served in half coconuts may be, I made light up punch bowls for them to stare into.

Get lit!

For those taking notes, that is a two dollar painters bucket from the home depot with the rim cut off. I drilled holes in the bottom for a ceiling mount socket and a hole for the electrical cord. Then I used spray-ment to attach the fabric to the bucket. I followed the directions on the lamp cord kit for wiring and then screwed a dual socket thing into the single socket. Two 15-watt bulbs and a plastic punch bowl from "Party City" later, I have mes-mo-rizing beverage receptacles!

Yay! New-ness!

Hey, does anyone here do OM? It involves SOOOOO much crafting, it's rediculous. This past year my team and I had some nassssstily awesome costumes:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAmen.

I have noticed a lot of folks state that they need help sewing with a pattern - I decided on a whim to write a Sewing Tutorial on my journal [livejournal.com profile] sharon_sews. Please feel free to take a look and let me know what you think - thanks!

Heylo.

I haven't done much crafting lately, just a little bit of this and that with duct tape and maybe a few earings here and there. I think I did a couple tooth brush bracelets last month....

So anyways I'm here to get back into the swing of things.

Crochet.

Does anyone know where I can buy the type of belt buckle that you can customize, by putting your own fabric in it so it matches an outfit?
It is the same idea as those button covers you can buy at craft stores, only in belt buckle form.

I am looking for an online store, because they don't carry them here where I live.
