Hi crafty grrlz,
I’ve been obsessing over other people’s crafts for the last month with comments being my only contribution. But now I’m going to pony up and show you some of the stuff I’ve been doing lately. Well, actually, I’m just going to show you two things cause it’s time for bed.\ and I’m going to turn into a pumpkin soon!

So… with no further ado…

Here is my amazing VULVA CLOCK

And here are my less shocking but still pleasing (to me) felt flower brooches. Read more... )

I hope you enjoyed them! I’ll post some more pictures over the next few days!

Alrighty...

I have two standard-sized plastic shower curtains. One has lots of large, geometrically-shaped boats and such all over, where as the other is mostly clear plastic with some flamingos on it.

What could I possibly make out of these?

Something to organize my bedroom with? Clothing? Any ideas at all?

I'm part of Theta Rho, a charity organization. This year, it's our sector's responsibility to provide decorations and favors, since one of our club's members is State President. We have to base our favors on her interests, which are teddy bears, lighthouses, and white roses. Her colors are Jade, Light Blue, and a Plum Purple.

We have a budget varying from $300 to about $220, depending on other factors. My question:

What are some cost-effective crafts and decorations that we can create, enough for at least 130 people, that don't take incredible amounts of time or talent? (some of them scoff at the idea of making things at all)

So far, we've thought up:
-small painted terra cotta pots accompanied by seeds
-clear glycerin soaps with pictures of lighthouses and bears inside
-white chocolate, shaped with small rose molds, and wrapped in tulle and ribbon
-small picture frames painted with the President's colors
-ceramic bears (which we would then paint, saving money?)
-ivy draped over boxes acting as pedestals on the tables
-Hershey's Kiss roses

Any ideas would be xcore appreciated!

Well, I got fairly bored yesterday and saw the post a little bit back about wanting to make a dress out of a sheet and I got ambitious and made a skirt out of one. I'm not so sure if I like it or not. Its a little too big, but it has a drawsting so its not falling off or anything. I still might take it in a little if I get ambitious sometime but I think its ok for now. If any of you have ANY suggestions as to improve said skirt it would be GREATLY appreciated. and now my first skirt )

I'm reposting this so everyone can see the results. I forgot to change the view "none" to "all" when I decided to post this in a community instead of my personal blog. Sorry!

I'm making an Anniversary gift for my husband and I need some help coming up with funny flirty things to say. This is a personal gift, so the phrases can be cute or scandalous. Think of things you'd write on your lover's pillow, bedsheets, or boxer shorts.

Hi craftgrrls,
I just got my digital camera a couple weeks ago, so now I’m making up for lost time. Here are some batik items that I’ve made & kept over the last few years. (Are we allowed to post old crafts here? Oh, what the heck, I will anyway.) I’m super proud of these. Yes, and the batik lamps you’ll see herein are the type for which I was looking for glue-advice a few days ago. I decided to use tacky glue in my most recent batch of lamps. (The recent photos will be posted next week, probably.)

I’m working on a tutorial for batik, but it won’t be for a couple weeks cause I have a long list of other things to do first. But it’ll come eventually…

But until then, here is a teen weeny description of what BATIK is:

1) First you take plain 100% cotton fabric and paint a design on it in hot beeswax. Read more... )

Anyway, here are the crafty images:

i'm attempting a cable pattern in my knitting for the first time. i looked up all the stitches, i understand what each symbol in the chart means....but i still can't get it to work! for example, the pattern and the chart both indicate that there should be twenty stitches across in the chart pattern, but if i count them, there's twenty-four. and throughout the chart there are black squares, and the directions say that when i reach a black square i'm just supposed to "ignore it". what the ba-hoo-ey?!

can anyone direct me to any tutorials that better explain this gibberish?

When a crochet pattern tells me to "steam lightly", what does it mean? I don't have an actual steamer, so is there some way I could do it with an iron or something?

[identity profile] gummycandy.livejournal.com

How safe is it to iron polyesther satin?  I figure on a very low setting I should be OK, right?

I'm in a wedding and I want to iron my bridesmaid dress rather than pay to have it pressed.  Or should I be safe and just have it professionally done?

OK so I bought this super cute satin shirt and threw it in the washer, of all retarded things, and the red piping bled onto the white shirt part. So, does anyone know how to remedy this or have any ideas about what to do/make with this shirt?

Any idea MUCHO appreciated, it's so pretty, I want to do something with it.

After many unsuccessful t-shirt surgeries, i was pretty much ready to throw out my poor care bear t-shirt. It was just not doing so good, but the logo on the front was still perfect and it was still somewhat decent sized, so I cut it up and sewed it together and tada....[sorry the pictures arent so clear, i dont know why!]

oh yes, there's more! )

I also did some simple other crafts. I made some necklaces (3 of hemp and one beaded) and some fake flower pins (really ghetto style w/ safety pins)

Hello everyone, I am starting on a dress for myself today. This is kind of a general question, but I'm wondering, do any of you have any tips or suggestions for me? I don't have a pattern, so I'm just kind of winging it. I will no doubt have more specific questions as I work on this project, but for now, this is all. Thanks so much!!

I did not know nor could I find out what house she is from. Most folks I chatted with said Ravenclaw. My daughter asked me to make her. Out of all the stories this is her favorite character. Hope you like her! Next I think I am going to do someone a bit more challengeing like Quirell with Voldemort comming out of the other side of his head or something.

I want to make a skirt like this one:

using a pair of old jean shorts and some kinda material which I have yet to buy. Does anyone have a tutorial or anything for this? I searched the memories and didn't see anything, and I've seen some of you talented ladies make skirts kinda like this before. Any help is appreciated! :)

Hello.

I was wandering around my local art supply store and saw a print that was "masterized" (masterized was the term the store used - I don't know if that term means anything, really) and it looked great in a gorgeous frame without glass. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? The print was probably decoupaged to a canvas and then gessoed, but I'm just guessing about this process. I'd love to find out how to do this properly because I can't afford to pay the $200 my art store was charging for it. I couldn't find any info about "masterizing" online so I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me get started. Thank you!!!

help!!
