I've looked through the memories, and this is a long shot but...
I had booked marked a paper store, that sold both just plain fancy paper, and also envelopes, and invitation sets. I'm pretty sure I book marked it after seeing mentioned here, but that was a long while ago(probably over a year and a half?).

Anyway, paper store, maybe located in california or boston, has an online store, selling envelope paper set for invitation...anyone? Even if you don't think its the correct one, please I'm desperate.

Do any of you know what those cards are called that come in almost everything like in Cracker Jacks and some sports cards packs that change pictures as you twist the card from one side to the other... still on the front just from left to right and vice versa... does this make any sense? I'm wanting to make my own (on a much larger scale) for an art project but I can't even figure out what it's called, let alone how to make it.

Any help is much appreciated!!

i made my mom a hand sewn bookmark for her birthday, along with a really simple photoshop-made card. it's my first try at sewing, and i think it turned out well.

I know, long time no post. I'm working on a costume head right now for a manticore named Cercyon, and I'm working on his horns right now.
They were covered with the same kind of plaster that you wrap broken arms in, so there's a definite woven texture on them if you look close. I've gone over them already with a textured, thick black paint, but the horns are still nowhere as shiny smooth as I'd like them to be.
What kind of paint / texturing / treatment would you craftgrrls reccomend? I was thinking just layers and layers of mod podge, and then wet sanding it, but if there was something that was less...uhh...podgy, I'd appreciate your input. Normally, the texture would be all sorts of cool, but I made the mistake of making his "crown" horns smooth, so I'd like them all to look like they're from the same creature.
Here's the horns, to give you an idea of the texture )

So I was cleaning my room today and came across a dress I used to wear. I tried it on and lo and behold, it still fits, but so poorly that it makes me look like some sort of bovine. My first instinct was to give it to my sister or just give it to goodwill, but I can't just part with it so easily. The top part is this stretchy ribbed...thing that laces up in the front and makes my (far too small IMHO) chest look flippin' fantastic, which is why I want to keep it, but then the rest of the dress is just this shapeless blob.

The subject line of this post had "empire waist" in it because, unless I'm off my rocker, that's what it's called when a shirt or dress cinches up just below the boobs, right? And that's where the stretchy ribbed goodness of this dress ends--right below the boobs. So it's sort of the same thing, right?

How can I fix this? Is there anything that can be done?

(To make up for this text-only post I'm going to post my winged backpack tutorial right after this. :)

People asked me how to make this, so I made a tutorial. Please tell me if it sucks/is hard to understand; I did it using the trackpad on my laptop and it was hard to make the little MSPainted drawings. :O

I made this today for no reason whatsoever.

image - say your prayers

I didn't have enough of the red beads to make a regulation size rosary.

I got some old saints' medals, filed down the texturizing on the back (here's a photo - they're identical, and they have the Virgin Mary on the other side), then painted the back red, stuck a cutout of a photo of Emma Goldman on it, and threw a couple coats of sealant on top of that.

So what should I do with the other one?

Stationary set made almost entirely from recycled, reused, and salvaged materials. The images and envelopes were taken from an old typing manual that was going to be tossed out.

I went to my local grocery store to get some ice cream and discovered Lifesavers on sale. They are normally like $0.60, but they are on sale now, 8 for $1.00.
Now what crafty thing can I do with them??
I was thinking of making people out of them...but I could only come up with an idea that involved yarn, wooden beads and foam.
I was thinking I could make them and sell them at the local flea market for like a buck or something.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I was thinking of making a train too...I have some hershey kisses and I can glue them on there....what to do for wheels though....herm....
I will buy more supplies if I have too, but I really don't want to.
Give me your ideas people...give me your ideas.

To continue my little making stuff spree I turned my t-shirt that had seen better days into a comfy though slightly ghetto pillow. so, yeah, here it is. (keep in mind my sewing machine decided to crap out at every available time)

For awhile I've been working on a teen magazine that I hope to publish. It's getting even closer to publishing time, I hope, but I still need more articles. If you're just interested in submitting, go to http://laughingwater.cjb.net for more info.

But now on to my real reason for posting: I'd like someone to write a DIY column all about the various wonderful diy projects you can do with denim. you wouldn't be paid, at least not for the first issue, because i don't even have the money to print, let alone pay. but you'd get a copy of the magazine and you'd get to get your stuff out there. and it's not like you get paid for posting here, so it's the same type of thing, right? right.
responsibilities:
-to supply photos and/or diagrams and pictures of your projects.
-to come up with fun projects
and that's it. yay! so email if you're interested: clueless_dramaqueen13[at]yahoo.com
