Tonight I set out to make a skirt I'd actually wear.

You know you want some of this. )

I made this pendant after looking at this one here. I have since strung it onto a heavy black trimming/cord thingy.

It's my first post, and certainly not my last!

the 2 links in the faq on accordian envelopes and books are not found. Does anyone have any current links to these?

I'm also trying to come up with some cheap and easy coasters. Not tile coasters, but something different.

dream pillows- I make dream pillows with regular pillow filling and herbs. I want to make eye pillows. I've found that they are made with either flaxseeds or rice. Flaxseed is so expensive. What is the difference between the two? Has anyone heard of eye pillows made with anything else?

Thanks.

Does anyone know where I can find directions for acid etching using wax?

Anyone know if you can use candle wax and armour etch? I was going to just try and see but I figured it might save time to ask here first

sea shells

Hi everyone! I have a question for you guys. And there are some pics under the cut, 'cause I think text only posts suck. Ok so my question is about sea shells. A while ago I went to Australia, and I picked up a lot of beautiful shells on the different beaches I went to. A few of them already have holes in them, which is great. But some of them I want to put holes in, so that I can make them into a necklace, or something like that.

So, does anyone know how to put holes in a sea shell without cracking them? Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

pictures, so it's not too boring )

I've recently started painting again, and there is one that needs some sort of material to thicken it. When I was in school, I don't remember quite what it's called, but it was almost transparent but cloudy and it was a little thicker than pudding. But I don't remember what it's called. If someone could remember what that's called, or if there is anything else I could use...I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you <3

Made from a old computer key, red paint, and a bead assortment attatched with a couple layers of Diamond Glaze. Oh, and wire and a charm. :)

Hola,

I've seen the question about darts pop up a couple of times now...which prompted me to check our memories for posts on doing them. Finding none, I've added this post to the sections Clothing Modification/Altering and Sewing.

There are links to how to do darts in the comments, hope the help in the future!

Happy crafting,

Hi! Just joined this community a few days ago. I was truly inspired with all your great works. Heehee x)

I've been itching to take a stab at making my own dangling earrings. I went hunting for cheap raw materials last Saturday and with bucketloads of sweat and a sore index finger, I've finished 3 pairs of earrings. So yay! :)

Will someone please please please tell me how to sew darts into a skirt to make it fit better/gather up some of the width over the hip? I don't have a pattern and I've tried everything and I'm about to cry with frustration. :(

Is it hard to convert pierced to no pierced posting earings? I want to buy some earings from Claires and have the non-pierced findings and some simple tools (basic jewelery/beading tools). Has anyone tried this with luck? Right now earings are out in cute-force but since I don't heal from piercings I am out of luck! :(

size 8 needles + caron sayelle yarn + no pattern but the s&b star chart i found on this community + some ribbon + a couple of hours = drawstring mini-bag for my friend's birthday.

i originally intended this to be a little bag for her mini ipod, but i didn't have it with me to measure correctly. i think it may have turned out just a tad too small.

I've watched for a few weeks and, like others, find everyone's work very inspiring.

I have one project I've been working on for what seems like forever and a day- basically a crochet bag with removable lining- all handsewn. Just thought I'd share...

Warning! Several pics behind cut )

Well, it's back to school time, and I want to do something interesting with my binder.
It's your basic 2.5" white three ring with a plastic cover sheet. Presentation binders.
Any unique ideas?

(I looked in the memories and didn't see anything..)

Quickie question...

I'm making a bag out of an old pair of shirts and lining it with this plaid material...

Do you think that fusible webbing or stitch witchery is enough to hold the lining to the denim or should I use a machine stitch also? I'm just afraid that I will break a needle with the heavy denim. Especially at the top with the belt loops and such.

Thanks.

hello all of you talented people!

i looked through the memories under "zipper instructions", but it didn't have what i was looking for. i went to Joanns the other day and a lady that worked there was telling me how to insert a zipper into my hooded sweatshirt (like right down the middle) i didnt really remember what she said. something about basting, folded the edges over, i didnt really understand. so anyway, the question i have is: does anyone know/have/can show me/point me in the right direction of a simple tutorial about how to insert a zipper into a hooded sweatshirt? ive never used a zipper foot and dont know how to use it. sorry for the text only post, im posting my creations soon. thank you in advance.
