Lysander has recently been doing some scent scratching on the carpet around the door, so I decided to make him a scratching slope.  I think that you can get slopes like it in the US, but over here it is just vertical sisal covered posts or nothing.
I made it out of two very large and thick boxes, sticking the pieces together with child-safe glue and brown parcel tape and sprinkled some catnip over the top to provide a little incentive.  It was much easier than I had imagined and works really well.  Lysander watched me while I was making it, and as you can see he was thrilled with the result and tried it out before I could tidy up :)  Since then he has been scratching away on the slope and not on the carpet.  It moved about a bit on the carpet, so I used some of fabric double sided tape that is used to stop rugs from slipping and now he can scratch and scritch as much as his little heart desires without it moving.

Tonight I randomly started looking at those special Barbies that people have fixed up, and I got this idea. I want to make some Final Fantasy charcter ones...just not with all the details (like doing a new face or whatever) but I got rid of all my Barbies a few years ago. I have one left and it's blonde, and I need it to have brown hair. How could I get it that color? I read something about acrylic paints but...how does that work?

I have another question too. I'm not really that great with sewing yet but I'm improving, but I decided I wanted to start making doll clothes. Not Barbie sized clothes (I'm too scared to put my hands that close to the machine yet haha) but more so...American Girl-type doll size. Those dolls are pricey though, does anyone know of another type doll that looks about the same? Well, at least when it comes to size, that would do? I'll have to check the stores around here next time I get out but for now I'm looking for online stores that sell what I'm looking for and whatnot.

I just read that again and it sounded really confusing. x_x;; Sorry...hopefully someone can help me out here.

a quick question for the modge podge experts out there, cuz i've never used it...

i recently bought one of these lexan bottles to carry my water around with me. but it's kind of plain, so i thought i might decoupage it with various pictures and stickers...my only concern is that i would need to seal it with something waterproof that could withstand frequent washing...would modge podge work for this, ya think? do you think it might even be dishwasher safe?...i could just hand wash if need be.

thanks, chicas!

I'm wondering if any of you crafty humanoids have any ideas for a creative (yet fish-safe) places to put a goldfish? Or interesting ways to jazz up a bowl?

And so this isn't text only... )

hello, ladies. I figured since i am full of ideas (some of which i dont need), have discovered the diversity of vinyl, and stay up an extra three hours each night just playing around with vinyl, craftgrrl is the place for me! Plus, it is about time I extend my virtual life and joined a community on LJ> Im still pretty stoked out about finishing my first complete vinyl purse; however, since I dont personally own a digital camera, I cant take a picture of it until I visit [livejournal.com profile] pinkninky. Oh well, Im off to start my next purse!! OOO! I will have to really pace myself with this one; I can hardly wait until im finished, and I havent even started, yet! welll, CHEERS!

Hello! I bought a crochet/ knitting needle holder for my best friend but it was lost in her recent move. I got it at the Bizarre Bazzar last year in Los Angeles. I don't sew and so it's not feasible to make one.

I guess it sort of looks something like this but a lot bigger- the original holder folded in half and then in thirds (hope that makes sense). And it was in a cool retro print. I'd like to find either the original vendor or something similar to that. The one I got her was $25 and the person also made really cute handbags. I tried looking on craftster.org but didn't find anything.

A while back (a month or so?) someone posted a link to a website that had all these cool things on it... weird lamps, and mugs with ceramic animals in the bottom, stuff like that. I remember that it had sort of a funny name, and also that someone replied to it with pictures of little watering can candles that they had made that were a lot like the stuff on the website.

If anyone remembers what I'm talking about, please post the link! You will be my hero. :)

I tried making those scrap fabric corsages that I've seen lately. I was using jean fabric and black tulle. Sewing longer and shorter pieces then sewed it onto a pin back. I don't have a cam, but the "flower" was sad looking and didn't stand out. Any that has made these, care to share tips? thanks.

i looked in the memories and didn't find exactly what i was looking for....

i wanted to print out big pictures and put them on my wall with some sort of adhesive. i rent the apartment so it couldn't be something that would damage the walls but would hold up well.

i read that rubber cement rubs off pretty well? would anyone suggest this? i don't want to learn the hard way and wreck the walls.

I have two chairs that a friend gave me a while ago, but they started looking really old and dirty. I have cats, and one of them love it! Been thinking about re-doing them, but never came round to it. But today I got my act together, click to see My wicked chairs )

OK, so, you ladies inspired me. You inspired me to get off my ass, avoid summer reading, and purchase insane amounts of tape. And then with said tape, I made my very first duct tape wallet.

You inspired this here wallet, so feel special, OK? )

This is my first post,  today I mod'd a shirt.  It used to be a long sleeve shirt.  That is not me, because it's a small shirt and I am fat, but it's my little sister looking pretty :)  The view is kind of crappy, because my sister is so hard to work with.  Crazy models :P

I want to know what I can do to approve my modifying next time.
