So I wanted a pretty bookmark. I've seen a lot I liked, but none that were really screaming out to me "pick me! pick me!". However I did find a keychain that I loved and though it would make an awesome bookmark. So I made it into one. I came across a book in Michael's (craft store) on friendship bracelets, and the method they used is one I remembered doing many years ago. I refreshed my memory on the basic knot method, and today, I made this. :)

a friend at work want to paint on a maicrowave cart. now this microwave cart is chipbaord covered in that white stuff (i hope you all know what i'm talking about). she asked me if she could paint them with acrylics, but i don't think it'll stay on. has anyone tried painting on this type of stuff? does anyone have any suggestions? she's trying to do it quite cheaply. thanks in advance!

A couple of years ago, Franks Nurseries and crafts had these great black roses. They don't have them anymore, and now I need them. I'm hoping someone here might have a source for something similar...
They were single flowers on a short (maybe 5"-6") stem, and came either fully open, or bud stage. The fabric wasn't like the cheap polyester fabric flowers you see everywhere. These were a sheer organdy or maybe organza, and the foliage was the same material.
HEEEEELP!!

Question!

What paint is best for painting on leather or fake lather shoes [ie: pumps and heals]?

and also what can I put over it so it doesn't scratch off. the same question for painting on leather and hard plastic suitcases.

Meat!

I love all kinds of religious art and kitsch, but I'm a little bored with the holographic Jesus pictures everyone seems to have.  I need two pieces of art for a specific spot in my kitchen (and I ran out of pom-pons, so I couldn't make as many flowers as I wanted to!), so I decided to reinterpret the Sacred Heart...by making a Sacred Steak.  Yeah.  It's a felt collage, and I used glitter, glue, and nail polish for the sparkly bits.  I'm not thrilled with the thorns--I made them waaaaay too short--but I'm making another one for a friend, so I can correct that little defect Smiley

I'm working on a...um...a crucified turkey.  I probably won't post that one here, because someone is sure to be offended, but if you'd like to see it, I'll post pix in my personal journal when it's finished.

ok here is this necklace that I have and it is really awesome. But I cant figure out how to string it. It has two holes in each big bead so the thread has to be double. What can I use that would be strong enough and that could come out each side to connect to a single string to wrap around my neck??? Right now it is attached using this flimsy wire, because it was the only thing I could find that was small enough to fit in the holes...

Im new to this community and excited about being a part of it!!

Your help would be much apretiated!!!

Hi everybody. I have finally got my knitting/craft blog up and I would like to start a webring for those of us who have crafty blogs. Doesn't matter what kind of crafts. I'm working on it right now, so if anyone is interested, let me know.

In case you don't know what this is, a webring works like this:

Everyone in the ring gets a link to put on their blog that links to the next and the previous blog in the ring, so that people can cycle through all of them. And that's it.

You can either comment or email me at ginabeana234@hotmail.com. Thanks everybody.

I had a question for the Mods. I'm currently writing a paper about the resurgence in interest on crafting, and I was wondering if any of you knew how many hits craftgrrl gets a day? Ohh.. and if anyone has anything to say about today's youth and crafting, it would help soooooo much.

Quick question.
I have a can of spray gloss. I used it to make my painted picture frames look more professional.

But the can doesn't really have much information on it.
Can I also put it on fabric, like to seal off hand-painted t-shirts? Has anyone tried this?
I also bought CD wallets that have a sort of plastic-y canvas-y material on the outside. I was going to paint on it with acrylic paint... and I was wondering about finishing it off with a light layer of the gloss...

Kinda weird questions, but maybe someone has tried it.

Thanks a bunch!

This being a crafting community, I figure someone has to have experience with glitter. I bought these gauzy, glitter-covered fairy wings for a costume party, but the glitter seems to be flaking off. I'd like to remove most of it before I have glitter all over the carpet. What's the best way to remove the glitter? Dunk the wings in water? Dip a rag in something and wipe it off?

I spent AGES on this necklace, carefully arranging each element for the perfect harmonious composition.

Yeah, that's bollocks. I just strung some stuff on fishing nylon and was surprised to find that it looked kinda decent. The colours are pretty in real life, too, the paua (abalone) looks a bit washed out in this pic.

(Let me know if I should put the picture behind a cut.)

I haven't been around for a few months. So, I've been catching up on all I missed this summer. I've see lots of cool stuff. I thought I would post some of my cups I made last semester in ceramics. The pics aren't too good, but they're the best I can do at the moment.

Here are all of them, well at least the one's I have in my room right now.

here are a couple of closeups )

does anyone know what glue is best to use to bond glass to wood? i want to glue these decorative marbles to a little jewelry chest. i found them today at the dollar store and they are awesome! they are shaped like stars, half moons, hearts, and diamonds. i wanna use them as the knobs for the chest. anyone have experience bonding wood to glass?

i also made this today finally. i asked about it about a week ago and i found the perfect denim skirt to use as the lining today at salvation army for 3 bucks.: a tote bag out of a skirt and a ruined t shirt )
