hi all! this is my first post and sadly it's text only because my cameras not working. but i'm sure i will be posting soon with pics because you all have inspired me so much =)

i have iron-on transfer paper that says it is better than regular transfer paper for dark fabrics. has anyone used this type on light colored fabric also,or is it ONLY for dark fabric? im a poor college student and so its a little expensive for me and i'd rather not just go ahead and try it and possibly waste it. thanks for any help! =)

So today, I present to all of you a story and some photos of my bag-making experience. I've made a couple of hand-bags (ghetto-sewn, since no one ever taught me how to use the machine, etc.) and some drawstring purses, but here I attempted to make something bigger that would hold more items, that I could use perhaps on a semi-daily basis, etc.

The robot purse, created by [livejournal.com profile] wasted_sympathy, was too cute of an opportunity to pass up, and luckily, there was a step-by-step tutorial posted to go with it. It looked simple enough -- cut out some rectangular pieces, sew them together, add a zipper and buttons -- ta-da!

However, the outcome of my first robot purse attempt did not go so well. The bag is usable, but just looks.. lol, really funky.

first things first -- i had to buy fabric.. )

This gives you a better idea of what the colors really are. I guess that was my point of showing them.
I hate showing pictures when they suck, but I get so excited about my stuff...blarg.

Okay, so I’m the one that’s making the creative cookbook/scrapbook for my friend’s birthday. And it’s coming along great (thanks for all the ideas!) However, I need some help with another gift. It’s going to be her 21st birthday so I decided to etch some shot glass, regular glass, and maybe a beer mug or two. I already bought the etching cream, stickers, and all that. I’m about to head out and buy some glass right now. And there was a great tutorial on craftster about how to do it, so I got that down too. The problem? What to “write” on the cups?! For the regular drinking glass, I think I’ll just do shapes (stars, circles, etc.) But any ideas for the shot glass and beer mugs? I was thinking maybe “Trashed” and/or “Shit-faced” for the beer mugs (you know, something alcohol related, if you will) and maybe “Vodka” “Tequila” etc. for the shot glasses. But any other idea/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

In my attempt to look for a ruffle foot thanks to [livejournal.com profile] crafty_dame, I found some odd things. I'm kinda/sorta/not sure in heck what they are. My singer is EXTREMELY old.

What are these? (With commentary!)

I made a little felt monster/robot dude. It looks like he's got robot rash or something. I need to start buying giant pieces of felt instead of the 25 cent ones. I'm going to change a lot of things before I make another one.

here's my (attempted) version of the robot bag ). its not great but it turned out better than i expected. i tried with blue material first and it didnt work out .. but i was only halfway through that one when i screwed up so i picked out this yellow material and some pretty white with yellow flowers for the lining (i tried to take a pic of it but my cameras flash brightens it too much to see the details).
and here's another jordy bag ) .. with a felt deer applique that was inspired by another girl from craftster.org.

So I found some really pretty cameos on ebay but I have virtually no clue how to make them into pendents... they dont have settings.

Can anyone tell me what to do? Pretty pretty please?

After the (moderate) success of the top I stencilled, I decided to make a purse/bag out of too-small jeans. I had attempted this once before and miserably failed. However, thank goodness I tried again, because I like the result.

sadly, no girl pocket )
The inside is cuter than the outside... the outside looks kind of plain. Any ideas to make it spiffier?

My mom taught me how to crochet tonight. Whattawoman. Anyway, this was my very first crochet project, and my iPod is very happy about it.
Just in time for winter... )
