Anyone ever made any undies?

Being in this hyper-crafty mood lately I've been looking for new things to make. I'd like to make some undies in unique looking fabrics, rather than the plain jane stuff I always wear. And it'd be nice to copy the pattern from my favourite pair that are slowly but surely falling apart that I can't seem to find in any stores here! Well-fitting comfy undies are a rare find for me

Anyway, has anyone had any success making them? Suggestions on fabrics to use? I've never really sewn any stretchy type material so I'm wondering how difficult that is too.

none of these were done with my new ruffle foot, but they definitely inspired me to buy it and make more!

last month a friend and i put together a compilation zine for a femme group that we're part of, and ran around at all the vancouver pride events selling them. i, of course, decided that we needed a fun way to sell them, so i made us cute aprons!

SLIGHT NUDITY, NOT WORKSAFE.

aprons galore! (and a cool zine, which i think is crafty, isn't it?) )

....so, since I found some instructions, thought I'd 'share', I keep seeing them in county-type stores and saying, to myself, "I could SO do that!" ;}

And yes, I have searched the memories of here and other similar communities and know one could help me ;(. Heh. Anyhow, my sewing machine is feckered. I've mucked about with the tension, it wont fix. Its only a few hundred years old!! Its a singer 7186 from 1980 or there abouts. I have images of whats wrong behind the cut. And I need help.

So, Im in the process of making a skirt but the tension is whacked. On the front, the needle thread is being overlapped by the bobbin thread which is coming through the material to the front. It's all uneven and not due to my horrible sewing skills, its because the machine is gone to hell.
On the back it is all 'wobbly', the thread wont stay even.

When I try the tension fixer, it just makes either a) the fabric pucker, yet the thread is still not straight nor fixed.
b) not pucker but does what I described above.

I finally finished this for my son.  It's  a little lumpy and crooked but I'm happy with it and more importantly so is my son.

Meet: Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With Strings!, Purple Pandora, Mona Grass & Fuzzy Logic

They're all fun and lovely in their own way but of COURSE I'm going to say that I'm their Mother. :)

I've been experiment a lot and am happy with the results. Which means >muah hahahaha< MORE experiments will ensue.

I was recently bestowed a relatively large piece of glass (like 3 ft x 1.5 ft) with an etching done by my friend. I am wondering how one would go about mounting this. Its pretty heavy...any ideas?
Thanks!

I had a nice big section of tutorials and stuff in my bookmarks but I got a virus and lost them all! *cries* I'm about to go through the community memories to try and find myself some new things to try, but I was wondering if you guys (erm...girls, heh) would post links to any nifty tutorials that you think are pretty cool? Especially anything that has to do with sewing stuffed animals/plushies or purses and totes. The only places I know to look are craftster.org and these memories...but yeah, any type of neat tutorials please! Doesn't even have to be plushies or purses, anything will do. <3

P.S. I love this community to bits, I've learned a lot from it already. :)

My mom was throwing out her old pizza tray and suggested I decoupaged it. Instead, I painted it and turned it into one wicked magnetic bulletin board...

Nurse purse

Meep, second post today. x_x;;

I got bored and decided to try and make something. I've made a few Jordy bags before but I thought I'd try to make a flap on the front this time instead of it having an open top. I forgot to put interfacing in it though, and it's sewed a bit crooked, but for a first attempt at this it didn't turn out too bad. I call it...nurse purse! Haha because it's made from that material that nurse's scrubs are made out of. (Almost everyone in my family works with/around hospital stuff so we have a lot of this material...)

Nurse Purse...what a catchy name! )

But I made a normal Jordy bag the other day, I think it's the best one I've done so far. :) (And what's super cool is the fact that the only money I put into it was very cheap interfacing and thread!)

The other (better) one. )

But while I'm posting, I have a question. Which do you prefer to use, interfacing that's fusible or the sew-on kind? I've only tried fusible but I always put it on the wrong side and it sticks to the rag and I have to do it all over again and I'm frustrated with it, is the sew-on kind easier/better?

That's a journal i covered in light blue felt. I made the flower from blue and chocolate colored felt and stitched on a beaded center. It's got a lock on it thats pissing me off, so i pryed it off of the one I'm working on right now. and here's a set of notecards.  )

i just moved into a new apartment with a friend of mine. everything is great... except for the fact that there is only one bedroom. as much as my roomate and i get along, we would both like to have privacy. luckily, the one bedroom is huge.. so we are trying to think of a way to divide it. our first thought was room divider screens, but they run about $50 each and we would need a good 3 or 4 of them.

another option i came up with was to build a structure out of pvc pipes/tubing (i think thats the correct title?) and have cemented bases.. then just sew some curtains and connect them with shower curtain hooks. has anyone ever worked with pvc before? would you have any tips for me? or any other alternative/cheap/crafty suggestions?

here is a drawing of the room )
