It's so cold out! I love it! It gives me a chance to make myself things to stay cozy and cute in, and this year is no exception. :D
A fleece kitty hat and fleece kitty paws? Of course! )

I'm planning on making my boyfriend a messenger bag for Christmas, but I have a couple of problems that I'm running in to.

- Most (sturdy) messenger bags are made from canvas. I'm absolutely positive that my sewing machine couldn't handle that. What other options do I have? The fabric needs to be plaid, and sturdy enough that a teenage boy can throw his school stuff in it and not destroy the bag within a month.

- Where can I find material to make sturdy straps online? I can't seem to find anything usable in this tiny town. I want the same sort of straps that you'd find on a Dickies bag. If any of you have any other fun original ideas for straps, I'd love to hear them!

Any info is much appreciated!

I'm looking for a small, mobile table for my sewing machine. Ideally it would have some storage as well. Something the size of a square filing cabinet (not the longer rectangle ones) on wheels.

Suggestions? Links? I'd love to be able to wheel it out in front of the tv, and wheel it back in when I'm done.

Hi crafty peoples! I went to St. Vincent de Paul today (I love living a block away from a thrift store), and I came back with this $8 coat )

It's bright red and uber soft plush. I was thinking of stenciling on it, but I'm also afraid of ruining it. Does stencil ink even work on plush (i assume it's some sort of acrylic)?

Do you all have any other ideas on what I might do with this skinned stuffed animal jacket of mine?

I think I've now got some pics to show you.  They're probably huge.  I think I need advice on how to resize them!

Pics here (please don't laugh) )

Heya, the college library here is having a book sale tomorrow...which basically they're going to be selling a lot of older books. I was wondering what kind of stuff could I do with these books? Decorations? Crafts?

Thanks!

I saw the cutest layered t-shirts. It was two tee-shirts cut kind of boatneck so both layers showed, and then it looked like the sleeves were cut into fringe and tied to make a little fluttery puff at each shoulder.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Are you all as curious as I am about the many wonderful costume ideas being created right now by your fellow craftgrrls? (and craftboys, of course) Want to inspire those people who are still struggling to think of an idea?
Now's your chance! Reply and tell us all about your costume, even if you don't have any photos or crafty questions. Boast away!

I'll start the ball rolling...I'm going to be the Fairy/Faerie Queen of Autumn. I'm making a very chic corset-and-skirt with leaf decorations, as well as a pair of big fairy-leafy wings! (No photos yet unless you want to see the giant pile of fake leaves on my floor, or the wire wing frames hanging in front of my television. :))

So...what are you being for Halloween?

(If this post isn't crafty enough, please feel free to delete.)

okay, so i work at famous footwear and our "bottoms" cant have print, so i need to make a few plain skirts. i bought this gray fabric (its kind of denimy, but a little thinner) and i was wondering if anyone has any idea of how to go about adding like, a cargo pocket? like a pocket with a flap, or just the pocket part..

or just like, the back pockets :P anything would be rad. im sick of boring skirts though......

So, instead of doing homework, I decided to sew.

So, what do I get with the following?

A new, uber cute purse, of course! )

Anyone have any good ideas for what I could do with 14 lime green stickers? I have them left over from when one of my friends ran for class president. They say "Vote Holly" on them. I thought they were cute, but now I'm not sure what to do with them. I was just going to stick them on the front of a journal, but I wanted to see if there were any more creative ideas.

[livejournal.com profile] lyamandmorri posted part of her costume for the Queen of Hearts and it inspired me. :) I didn't use a pattern, but I did use these a-line skirt instructions and altered them a bit. I am horrible at sewing and decided to just wing it, really, and it turned out much better than expected. Also bought a headband to fake as a crown lol, and made a bag out of the heart cards (and then some extras).

From Joann's: 2 yards black (just in case I messed up, and I figured it'd be nice to have extra fabric to stash), 1 yard red, 1 yard of red string, and a 7" black zipper: $12.27 + tax.

Deck of cards from Silver Legacy, Reno: free (from a huge box of cards we got from my aunt who worked at the gift shop).

Headband (instead of expensive, somewhat obnoxious-snotty tiara) from The Icing: $4.50 + tax.

(& creating my own costume successfully and on the cheap: priceless!)

Text only for now, but if I can figure this out, I'll have pictures tomorrow...:)
I am working on a project with vinyl...I bought some by the yard and it came in the mail yesterday, so it was folded...now there is big fold creases in it..I need to sew with it, so I wondered how to get the creases out? Will it melt if I iron it on the coolest setting? It's not heavy duty thick vinyl...thicker than tablecloth vinyl though...
Any ideas? Thanks!

Second verse, same at the first - little bit louder and a whole lot worse!

Um... yeah.

So below the cut are the rest of the items (and some details about them) that I sent to [livejournal.com profile] naelany for her craft fair. Since I covered all the fleece items last time, this post is comprised of the jewelry and a couple of crocheted items. I can't wait to see what sells. Oh, the excitement! *giggles*

And once again, thanks for looking! (Oh, and thanks for all the great comments on my last post(s). Much ♥ to all of you.)
