My goodness, it looks like moving to Ottawa has really done something to my creativity. Not only have I been crocheting more, but I've been crocheting better. I finally overcame the little problem I used to have with tension (I was doing everything far too tight), and learned the difference between a slip stitch and a single crochet, which I'd been mixing up. Neither of which made for good results, you understand.

So anyhow, I thought I'd share pics of my most recent projects. First is a shawl, the very first shawl I've ever attempted. I think it turned out well, if a little long.

Next, I found a nifty crocheted dress design through Crochet Pattern Central, dating back to 1970. So I tried it, and it turned out pretty well, I think.

Finally, in fact just today, I finished a third piece. A capelet from the current Simply Creative Crochet, but with Red Heart "Tweed" yarn (the actual colour is "Irish Cream"). Out of my recent stuff, I think this is the one I'm most proud of.

I'd be happy to hear what people think. Unfortunately, you probably won't be seeing much of me for a while, since most of my output is going to be for presents, and I don't want the recipients finding photos online before they actually receive the silly things! But be patient, hopefully I'll have some little stuff to show before the end of the year.

I just can't stop.

Green/left is size 80 cotton tatting thread, red/right is perle cotton #12.

And I'm knitting a custom-order scarf for someone right now, too.

Hi! I'm new, but I've popped in here many times. I make decoupage kits and here are two of the kits I've made. I made them for a friend to decoupage a table, but I ended up doing all the work, so I kept them :)

I plan to open up my webshop next month and I'd like sell some. Are decoupage crafts popular? I welcome all comments on my work! Thanks!

First post. Hi, I'm Chloƫ, I'm from Austin & I'm creative, but not so "crafty."
So I'm not entirely the master of sewing, but I've wanted a cord bag for quite sometime... being very not rich, I chose to make one by using my current bag as a pattern.

Not a difficult craft, but the only creation I've got a photo of at the moment.

I also made a black one and a red one, but of course, no photos of those.

I finished my mom's Christmas gift, yay! It's a lap quilt. I made it from Kathy Bissett's "Magic Tiles" pattern and I named the quilt "Indigo Tiles" since I made it from asian inspired indigo fabrics...I quilted "in the ditch" around each "grouting" strip of all the blocks and hand embroidered a label for the back...Now I am working on a different quilt for my dad...pics behind the cut...

Okay, so I have a friend and she has MS. She can't hold a regular job due to her condition, so she does some crafty-type things to bring a bit of extra $$$. She had seen something called "heartdrops" in a store a long time ago, and thought they were cute, but not well done, as in mass-produced. She thought maybe she could do a variation of them, and she's worked out the process, BUT...these came with a little verse attached. I was hoping someone here might have seen these and remembered the verse, a site that shows them, or can come up with something appropriate that she could use.
The "heartdrops" are those squashed glass marble things that she paints a little heart on, and then decorates the heart with rhinestones, glitter, whatever. The verse says something about ---even though we're apart, you have a little piece of my heart and this will remind you I'll always be there for you---that kind of thing. Kinda cheesey, but sweet, ya know? And inexpensive, so she could conceivably sell these pretty well at local craft fairs.
Any help at all with this will definitely be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps this is a really dumb question, but the morons at the rag shop near my town had no idea what i was talking about. I have a pattern for a hat I want to make that calls for 10" x 5 1/2" Buckram Remnant. Does anyone know what this is? or where i can purchase it???? thanks in advance!!  oh, and the pattern is McCall's Fashion Accessories - M4607.

I work with endangered animals and every year we make a calender with great photos. They are on the thick full color calendar paper. We have thousands left from previous years. We need to do something with them. Preferably something we can sell or give away as a promotional. I've already made a wallet with the use of our laminater. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

oohh....Halloween is coming up...and Wal-Fart is having a costume contest for all associates (including me...the measly cashier). The prize is a shopping card or something like that...

Any ideas what I should dress up as? I don't have much time to make anything so something simple and uber-creative!

Keep in mind I don't want anything bulky that'd make it hard for me to do my job. I have to lift a lot of things and scan things pretty fast. :)

:-D

I made this bag for a six year old for her birthday! The clouds and balloon are felt and the balloon has stuffing in it to make it puffy! Sorry for the low quality picture.

In regards to this post, I was asked to share some other cards I've made and the artwork by Kurt Halsey that I used. If this is against any rules, let me know and I will promptly delete this post. Under the cut is another card I recently made and a link to my Kurt Halsey online gallery with all my saved images of his work.

i need some help...well, quite a lot of help really...

i'm having a Halloween party a week tomorrow [Saturday] and am dressing up...i want to be 'Countess Dracula', heh :D
i've been looking for photos online of the original Dracula, Bela Lugosi [at least, i think he was the original, i'm not very good with films...] but have only found this one ) which is only a model of him.
i don't want the jacket really, as that's going to be too hard to find. i have black trousers and black shoes i can wear. i'm also dyeing my hair black...although, it'll be spiked as normal, rather than brushed back. and i have white face paint.

anyway, enough rambling :\
what i'm asking is, would it look tacky if i lined the cape with red? coz grey looks a bit boring...
and more importantly, how would i go about making a cape? and making the collar stand up?
also, don't some vampires have cummerbunds? and what kind of shirt is best? a ruffly one?
