Sorry no pics (no camera, waaa!)

BUT I found a cool website for making your own clothes and bags and other things.

Behold! Morgana and Eve!

Hopefully I get a pic of my own Halloween costume, which at this moment is still uncut fabric.

No I'm not tellin' what it is!

I would like to personalize some plain coffee mugs with paint, but I'm not sure which kind of paint is the best to use. Obviously I want something non-toxic that will withstand washing and such. Any suggestions? And do I need to use any sealer to keep the paint from scraping/wearing off?

Thanks in advance.

i finally got around to hacking up a CSI comic into..

a CSI purse. it still needs a velcro dot for closure, and some straps, but it's basically finished.

more photos of the purse )

if you're wondering how i made it, i can simply say scissors, packing tape, and thick pieces of paper for the bottom, sides, straps, and clasp.

ok, while i'm burning immortal chorus cd's and doing laundry, i wanted to throw this out.
i have a sweater. it's a gift. you know the type. my husband's mom rocks. she does. she thought of me while she was in argentina a few months ago and she bought me a sweater there. a cashmere sweater even! it has a great feel... but...
it's uh, well, it's a color somewhere between salmon and pumpkin. ya. i dunno either. just. hmmm. no.
so, i want to do something with it. something = black.
google found a few things for me. i have to use celluloid dyes or blah or blah or specific natural fiber dye like: http://www.handknitting.com/natural_fiber_dyes.asp in other words, i don't think i can just use rit. can i?
also, what i found actually referred to dyeing YARN, not a whole sweater. i doubt that makes much difference really, but if it does and you know it, say something, please.
i checked the memories here and found a girl dyeing a cotton cardigan, but from what i've read, the methods/products used to dye cotton and wool are different.
ALSO... it's a little dated looking. tight cuffs at the wrists and waist with long sleeves and body so that the tight cuffs create the baggy puffed out thing.
i'm more of a bell sleeve grrrl, myself.
i'm thinking of whacking the sleeves of at 3/4 and putting a slit to the elbow, shortening the body to just below my waist (cutting off that cuff and a few good inches, too) and also maybe opening up the neck with a little slit which would expose just a bit of collar bone below the neck.
i don't think i really have to use a special hem, i've cut and hemmed knit fabric before with success, so i think that will be fine.
my question here is that i was thinking of finishing with a wide ribbon at those new hems, possibly in black to match or in red or pink to contrast. any thoughts on that?
this isn't going to be as cool as a koi vintage recycled cashmere garment, but that's sort of the inspiration.

Hey guys.. this is a really easy question that im sure many people can answer.
I have completely drawn a blank of something to do.
I know how to do so many "crafty" things and yet, im stuck.
I also have many many MANY craft supplies at hand.
And still.. i cannot think of ONE thing to do with them.
under the cut is a picture of but a small portion of some of the craft things i have
maybe im a little bit over my head )

So, I stupidly sewed through my first finger. I know for sure I don't have any needle remnants or anything left in my hand, but I'm just wondering if any of you have done this before. Should I just put some anti bacterial stuff on it, and put a bandaid on, or something different? It doesn't hurt at all...

Thanks for the help.

Hi!  I have a quick question.  I wanted to take all these Ice Mice boxes I've been saving, and make some sort of makeup bag, or chnage purse.  They're cardboard-ish, so how would I do it?  I would like it to be as "waterproof" as possible.  I mean I'm not going to carry around water in it, but I would like it to stand up, and last longer then a week.  Thanks girls!

So i need your crafty minds to help me with ideas...My mom just got a new job where she travels a lot and she said that she gets lonely in the hotel rooms because they aren't personal. So i told her i'd make her a little 'home sweet home' kit to take with her. Obviously it has to be light and easy to take with her on planes or in the car. Here are my ideas so far and anything you can think of would be awesome!

- Homemade knitted blanket
- Home-y smelling candles (like, spice ones)
- Family pictures (what kind of light picture frames could i make / buy?)
- One of my dad's shirts w/ his cologne on it (she said she got lonely at night, i figured she could curl up with this)

That's all i've got so far...Ideas are definitely welcome!!! :)

For Halloween I'm going to be Little Red Riding Hood. Alas, there is a problem. I want to make like a mini poncho (I don't think that's the right term. Like, half poncho half shawl. It'll come about just under my boobs, lenghtwise. I hope you guys know what I mean) How would I go about making this? And a hood to go with it?

i know know know that people on here have made crafts out of candy before!

but i can't find anything in the memories.

i want to make a garland of candy (gum drops), like you see on x-mas trees, but the needle is getting extremely sticky. i would basically need a new needle for each gumdrop, which would make it an extremely short garland.

any alternative ideas?

and i promise i'll get my butt in gear and post pics soon!

here's a scarf that i knitted at work the other day:
fuzzy! )
it's made of 1 skein alapaca blue sky yarn in the color oatmeal and one skein berrocco sizzle.. but i don't remember the name of the color. maybe the color was sizzle? i don't know.
anyhoo i would like to crochet a hat to go with this. the scarf is knitted yes, but i don't have skills beyond knitting a rectangle. i have been looking around for a warm hat pattern but all i seem to find are patterns for hats that are very hole-y. i would like to make a hat that actually keeps my head warm so if anyone has a good crochet pattern for a hat please share? thank you!

This dress is one that I really just couldn't stop working on. I think it's finally done. I hand-stitch all my embroidery usually on vintage pieces of clothing I buy. I do use a pattern that I sketch onto the piece of clothing (pattern made by me). See my personal journal [livejournal.com profile] xflickerflyx for other stuff that I do!

further to my pills as earrings post AGES ago, if anyone was interested, the secret is polyurethane varnish. makes them waterproof! but you have to be really careful with them while they're drying, cause the varnish makes them squishy. but they do harden up when they're dry.

and look like this! )

by the way - to whoever it was gave me the link to pillearrings.com - thank you!
