a lady's mother at my hub's work made these cute little guys for our kids.  hot glue smarties & tootsie rolls to the back of a fun size candy bar.  wrap a dum dum or other small sucker in orange tissue paper & add a face.  cut a mini straw hat in half & hot glue it to the sucker.  glue the sucker to the candy bar & you're done :)

i wanted to knit my boyfriend a scarf for his birthday, but i wanted to knit like, a duck or a heart or... something cute into it. does anyone have any patterns/instructions?

My bf's birthday is coming up on the 2nd.. here's the card I made for him, made with white & black thick art paper (about as thick as bristol paper), vellum, tracing paper, permanent marker, a platinum gel pen, double-sided thick puffy tape, a heart paper punch, and some stickers.. the little chocolate brownie stickers are made my Creatif Papier, and I picked them up at some Asian bookstore. Yikes!

So, my friend was supposed to come over and teach me how to knit, but she flaked out on me and now I'm trying to teach myself from various websites. I got the hang of casting on, and did okay with my first row of knitting, but I'm kind of perplexed on what to do with the original slipknot once I get to the end of that first row. Also, I found that while knitting, the length of yarn between my needles got longer and longer... a tension problem? I'm using size 10 needles, and trying to make a simple scarf.

Oh! One more thing... what is this purl business? Do I have to knit one, purl one? What is the purpose of that?

Help would be soooo appreciated.
