I think it was a week or so ago that someone asked a question on wholesale studs. Someone posted a link, but I lost the post and the link. Can that person please repost, or if people know of a cheap small wholesaler, can they link me? thanks!

I have been a member of this community for a while now, but this is my first time posting. My normal MO is crocheting, but tonight I made some earrings. The pictures are awful, I'll try to take better ones in the morning.

If you'd like to see better pictures, hollar at me at my personal journal. I don't want to double post them for those who don't wish to see them.

I coated a letter with contact paper and now the paper is curled (the contact paper came from a roll).  I've left the letter inside a big book and have even put more weight on top of the book leaving it over night for 2 nights now with no signs of uncurling!

Can i use an iron on the lowest heat setting with maybe a dish towel between the contact paper and the iron??
any other ideas on how to flatten this out??!!

Thanks :)

i think these are my favorite things i've ever made.

Faux enamel cabachons made with Sulpey, colored with Pearl-Ex, leafing and rubber stamping, glazed with Sculpey gloss, glued onto linked bracelet.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share with you my Halloween costume even though it's a bit late... I thought why not! :) The costume took me 4 months to do, but it was completely worth it.

Well, this is my first post, hi everyone! I'm a sucker for lace and colors, and I love playing with texture and layers.

Does anyone have any information on corking (also known as spool knitting)? There's hardly any information on the internet. I remember learning it way back and enjoying it a lot (mainly because I was good at it). What could you make that is useful? I know you can make simple things such as long knitted snakes, but I have no use for them.

Another question. Were you self taught how to sew/knit/crochet, or did someone teach you? Would you recommend any websites with instructions, or programs?

Thanks.

i am taking a trip to NYC next week to visit my best friend from college! well, recently, we both took up knitting. she just moved to the city a few months ago, and hasn't had much of a chance to really explore many craft stores...i live in middle-of-nowhere, florida, and there is not really any place to get good yarn down here. so we were hoping to find some place in NYC where we could stock up for various christmas presents!

so, just to recap that really long story, if you know of any good places to get yarn in NYC, please help a craftsista out!...and addresses, or just streets, or even a general vicinity would help us immensely, if you know them off-hand!

thanks, grrls! <3

hey everyone. i have a pair of boots that are pretty plain in my opinion. they are black with a thick heel and no design whatsoever. so i have been thinking that they would look cool if they were covered in monster fur. is there any way i can do that? would i be able to hand sew the fur on and if so, when it gets wet would it get ruined? i hope you all know what i'm talking about when i say monster fur. i don't know how to describe it but it looks like cookie monster.. lol sorry thats the best i could think of. thank you :)

Does anyone know where to buy these kind of beads?

That is the best website I've found to sell them, but what I was really looking for was a site that sold them in a package of about 100 in mixed colors. I don't know if there is one though.

I'm totally proud of mine. :) I bought a little girl's polo shirt from Target and ripped the crap out of it. I covered it in "dirt" (black lipstick), "grass stains" (green marker), and fake blood. I sewed plastic spiders all over the shirt (took forever!) and onto a brown skirt and knapsack I found at Goodwill. Then I put a rubber snake around my neck and sewed the head and tail together so it looked like the head was going for my jugular. Kind of a snake necklace. Got a Brownie sash and badges on Ebay, put fake cobwebs in my braids, made a huge bruise and dirtied my face, and voila!

Girl Scout on a trail hike gone horribly wrong. )

I recently took a course at my public library on how to crochet. I didn't really learn that much from it, I actually learned the most from what my mom and grandma taught me. But anyways, our project was to make a hat and scarf for a child. I used Red Heart 4ply Worsted Weight Yarn in a pink color. It took one 8oz skein and I still had some left over.

It took me a bit to get the hang of it. Mom started my scarf for me, and did around 5 rows on it for me. The hat I did all by myself. I really think I ripped the hat out completely about 50+ times. If it's not worth doing right, it's not worth doing at all in my book! I knew I could get it. And boy, it was such an awesome feeling when I was done and I could show off what I had done all on my own.

The hat and scarf were donated to a local Helpline in my community. The items I donated will be given to a child that is less fortunate for Christmas. That's what made it so neat for me. Just to know how it would benefit someone else and they would be nice and warm this winter, all because of me. :)

I took several pictures of the project, so here they are behind the cut.
I even had a cute little model to show my project off :D

Question : Does anyone know how to vectorize a picture? Can you use photoshop? I have photoshop cs. I want to do some screenprinting and I think vectorizing the picture before hand would make it look cleaner and not DIY punk rock attempt at screen printing. I want to make a Booji boy shirt. I love DEVO.

On another note: I posted my godzilla sweater on craftster.org and now it is a featured project. I'm just so cool! How do they even pick a project for that anyway? I just checked today and suddenly godzilla is on the sidebar.

A friend gave me a large T-shirt from her college's radio station. It was neat so I decided to reconstruct it. I had never reconstructed a shirt before. But I was a dork and didn't look at tutorials and did it on the fly. I cut the two halves of the shirt apart and cut the sleeves off. Oh, they're too big for my arms. I'll reattach them later.

I should not have cut the sleeves off.

Now, I have something approximating a tank top in one hand and the sleeves in the other. I would like to
a) reattach the sleeves and
b) make them cap sleeves.

How can I do this?
