Hey y'all. I'm looking for some iron-on velvety material.
You know those iron on letters and numbers for jerseys and sashes and such? I want a sheet of that velvety material.
I'd really rather have the iron-on than have to glue velvety fabric on and use fray check and all that junk.
I'm going to check at the big ol' JoAnn tomorrow morning...but, I thought some of y'all may have some ideas.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there everyone o^_^o! I've just made this last night in about two hours time. I've been crocheting since I was very little but had been occupied with other things for a few years and now have found my way back to it. This is my latest free-form hat. I also crocheted rainbow star beads into it! Take a look! o^_^o (x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] lilitha [livejournal.com profile] crochet [livejournal.com profile] accessorydoctor)

Hey everyone, I just had a question about painting on fabric..

As part of an x-mas gift for my boyfriend, I plan on painting a couple of pillowcases to go with his new bedsheets since he's been unable to find ones he likes.
It's simple, just a stripe down the edge of the case to match the sheet colour. I'm just buying two cheap pillowcases from IKEA or something. I'm assuming I have to pre-wash them, however I'm unsure about what paint to use.
I was going to use regular acrylic paint, but do I have to use any special kind? Do I have to add any type of textile medium to it? I want to make sure the paint won't wash out (as he washes his bed sheets obsessively) or fade or any other possible thing that could ruin them.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

[edit:] Also, would regular high-tack painters tape work for the edges? I don't want it to bleed...

I'm getting a head start on some of my Christmas projects.  This little duct tape stocking is for my Duct tape lovin, Harley riding friend.  I'll fill it with candy or some other small gift.

My local fabric store was having a HUGE sale on all fabrics, so I bought some cute reupholstering fabric to make random bags and purses with. Here are some pictures of the clutch I made.

I'm also looking for a way to close it, I was thinking about tying a ribbon around the mid section or using some sort of buttoning method, any tips? What do you think would look best?

So I have watched the community for quite some time now. And I have several things that will soon get posted. Here is a sample of my work. My boyfriend and I do customized bowling pins. This post is heavily picture loaded, but I promise its different than anything that has been posted here in quite awhile!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone out there who is always willing to lend a hand and answer questions to those who need the help, this really is a great community. < / sappy blabber >

I owe a thank you to someone who told me about the Ax-man store in Minneapolis this past month, to you, sorry i forgot your user name, I am eternally greatful! But it got me to thinking, another great addition to our already rockin memories section would be a "Cool stores by town." Section. So if I am on vacation, or if I move, or if I just wanna day trip somewhere, I can click on our handy links and find out those cool places to shop in each town. This place was an industrial/salvage/junk store, that Im not really sure how I have lived near the cities for almost two years now and didnt know about. I just thought it would be cool for everyone to have for their own cities. All those great bead shops, and fabric stores, junk stores, exc. Maybe I am just far too entertained by the thought of a massive crafters galore database!?

Anyway, without further babble... heres what keeps me entertained. Again, picture heavy.

First...I apologize ahead of time to anyone on my friends list who has already seen these.
heh

My mother and I have been making a few hats and we plan on donating them. We call them chemo caps...whatever. I mean...they can be used for anything. I just wanted to make some hats for people who have lost their hair that aren't plain.
When my grandpa got sick and lost all his hair, he hated the hats and such that were out there. He said they were so boring and plain...heh...so I made him something. Years later...while making hats to donate...I thought about younger people and perhaps they do not want just hats with stripes or solid colors. I have nothing against those hats...just some days you feel like something crazy...something different right?

So using some spare yarn I had, we whipped up these three.

Please excuse the crappy pictures. They were taken the other day before work and I was in a hurry. The sun was right in my eye too, so they are not the best, but it gives you an idea.

Pictures )

I plan on making some and donating them to the homeless shelters and such too.
I paid...about $1.75 for a skein of the Simply Soft and $3.50 for a skein of the Lion Brand Fun Fur. I will proally be able to get 3 or 4 hats out of the Simply Soft and 4 hats...or more...out of the fun fur.
So it really isn't all that expensive.
Plus I know the pattern by heart, so it gives me something to do at work in between customers.

Thanks to those that helped me out! :) I had to rip and unravel this earlier because it was all a mess, but now that I'm reworking it, it is turning out much better. It is taking FOREVER AND A DAY for me to knit this (since i'm doing stockinette.. and since I don't have DPNs or circulars, I'm actually going to fold this in lengthwise so that it'll be stockinette on both sides, and twice as thick).

I'm so happy! :)

I absolutely LOVE turning everything I can see into funky earrings or necklaces. If its sturdy enough I'll drill a hole in it and put it on earrings or necklaces.

Its unique art or at least I think it is.

as a christmas present for my boyfriend, i wanted to make him a fleece blanket. so i bought some of that great no sew fleece they sell everywhere now, two colors. i wanted to combine the two different colors of the fleece and make it one big blanket, but iii can't sew! anyone have any creative ways i might be able to combine the two blankets into one big one? i was planning on doing the same thing this girl did, but i'm open to other suggestions before i start it.

thanks!

So I just recently made marble magnets for a christmas gift, and it was my fist time making marble magnets. They turned out alright, and I have these little boxes (cardboard) to put them in and wrap, but they keep connecting to eachother, so I was curious as to how you all package your marble magnets if you gave/were to give them as a gift, or how I can package them, without them getting all connected so they dont sit nice. Thanks for the help, and I apologize if I confused anyone!!!

Oh and I crocheted my very first scarf ever and finished it last night!!

Yeah so uhhh... I've been busy. School sucks and has been taking up my time, but there wasn't a lot of homework this week so I made a tutu.

6 yards of tulle, two tiers. 8 layers per tier, and you end up with this puffy monster.

how about some matching bloomers as well? )

Well, that's all for now. I have another project but I don't think I'll be able to finish it until next month or something, heh. *is both really busy and lazy*
