There it is. I'm a horrible sewer and it took a good while to make (I probably made two that didn't turn out with some other fabric). But I'm glad its done and I hope is stays together!

I got a sewing machine for Christmas, but the instruction manual is vague and I'm having trouble threading it. When I try to sew something, it pulls the top thread down into the bobbin case. The stitches come out all bunched up. I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what. I've only hand-sewed up to this point, so my knowledge of sewing machines is minimal.

How do I find out the proper way to thread a sewing machine? A friend suggested I take it to a sewing machine shop and have an employee show me. Think that'll work, or do you have any other ideas?

I'm looking for ideas for interesting & home-made birth announcements.

Don't wanna do the pink ribbons and frou frou!

I was thinking about making postcards of the newborn's picture...

Any other ideas ?

My digital camera kinda broke and this picture took a million tries to get off my camera. I'm hopefully buying a new one. Anywho.

I messed this one up, which is why I'm keeping it for myself.. but since you really can't tell, here's a pic!

Hi everyone,

I would like to try resin embedding to create pendants and I'm looking for the name for one particular jewelry finding. It creates the loop at the top, but is bent around from front to back, with a pokey piece which sticks into the piece (front and back) to attach it.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Thank you! :)

Hey Everyone!

I've got a quick question. I'm trying to crochet the Sushi Ornaments posted on Craftster, and it calls for a H hook. But I apparently don't have that size, and it impossible for me to go buy it right now since I'm stuck inside.

Here are the hooks I have:
J, I, N, K, E, P, Q, F, and G.

Are any of those close to H?

Thanks!

Hello, I am new to this community, but I love it already. So many ideas and so much inspiration!

Anyway, as a hello I thought I would post something I recently made.

My skirt.... )

So I have this vintage sewing machine, and today I was using it, and sewing quite fast for maybe 10 minutes.
Then the pedal started getting warm. Is this something I should be worried about?
It's never been warm before, but I have never sewn that fast before either..

Is it possible to sew through cardboard with a sewing machine? Is it possible to sew through cardboard at all?

So I figured I'd share what I gave my hubby for Christmas last year. Might be good for anniversaries and Valentine's Day as well.

Everyone know the song Time in a bottle by Jim Croce? Well, I made hubby some time in a bottle. Sorry, I don't have pics, so I"ll describe as best as I can.

I took an empty, rinsed out and de-labled bottle from Starbucks (frappucino) because it's got a nice wide mouth. I put a clock on there with some puffy paint as well as the word TIME. Then I wrote all the things I could think of that meant spending time with eachother (going to the beach, going out for dinner, a movie, for coffee, go on a trip to the mountains, etc etc etc), cut them into individual strips, folded them and put them in the bottle. Then I took a little box and painted the letters D and W on it, crossing eachother. D for Dreams, W for Wishes. Inside I put a picture of the both of us together as well as my weddingband (I can't wear it anylonger, as I've gained too much weight, and I haven't taken it in to be re-sized. That's something I hope to do with myself ^_~).
Then I wrote out the entire song on some nice paper and put it in an enveloppe.
I presented them to him, enveloppe first, bottle second and box third. He loved it, even cried. Might be worth mentioning that Time in a bottle is his favorite Croce song, and mine too.

I'll be hard pressed to top this one, and our anniversary's on Valentine's Day! But, hopefully this will help some of you guys (and gals) out there for ideas ^_^
