Creative Design Works is a website intended for those who make pet accessories. What they offer is a really fantastic selection of D-rings and snap hooks in a variety of sizes at very affordable prices.

Rude Dog Leather sells both screw-back and rivet back spikes at very affordable prices as well. And their customer service is AWESOME! I just placed an order not a few days ago, received a personal notification within 24 hours that there was a delay in shipping, but the item still arrived today! Fantastic communication, highly reccommended.

I can't wait to show off all that I've been up to, but wanted to share these crafty resources first!

Ornaments

For Christmas (as I usually do), I made ornaments for my sisters. This time, I made painted glass bulbs, but the name is rather misleading, since all I really did was drip colors into these bulbs and then let the colors drip out. I let my sisters pick their own ornaments this year instead of wrapping them (and I gave my mother first pick since she rarely winds up with ornaments from me). Of all the ornaments I've done, these are by far the easiest, but I don't think I like them nearly as much as the paper bag ornaments or the felt ornaments (pictures of which will have to wait, since I don't have any). There are 16 pics behind the cut (each one 400x300).

Move forward at your own risk )

Text-only post.

I just discovered Armour Etch. I've made s few things. (Sorry, don't have any pictures.) Wonderful stuff. I was wondering, has anyone tried coloring the etching cream? Or, is there any etching cream already colored? Looked it up, didn't have much luck.

A har har. Maybe not, but my room is now pretty cool. ;) It went through a big transformation...it's actually CLEAN!!!!!1  My room used to have just plain white walls. I HATED them, so I'd find whatever I could and would put it up on my walls to give my room more color. In doing that, my room was all different colors and no matter how I 'cleaned' it, it always looked so cluttered. I got a good amount of money this Christmas, so I decided I wanted to redo my room. I've been having trouble for the past few months getting myself to actually do my homework at HOME. Now, I think I'll actually have the initiative to do my homework in my room since it's actually clean, and I actually have a working atmosphere. Anyway, enough with the chit chat--here's a tour of my very much improved room! Mucho gracias to my brother Jason for helping me. ^^

I have all these old t-shirts that are too worn out to wear or stained so I cut them up into patches and pillows.

I'm just learning to sew so it still looks pretty DIY.

Sorry for the crappy web cam pics.

Weekend of Sewing )

The other pictures were too dark, but I cut up an old "The Smiths" t-shirt and put patches on a denim skirt.
I have more I am making pillows out of. Any other suggestions?

Also, I hemmed the Zim patches but didn't bother with the patches I put on the denim skirt. Had anyone done this before? Which works better after frequent washing?

Does anyone know of any websites where I can find free Japanese character cross stitch patterns?

Thanks!

I'm in love with Foxtrot & Tango's tulle skirts, but they cost $300-something! I'm just a broke high school student, so I obviously can't afford that (and my parents aren't going to give me that money for one skirt).
I want to make a tulle skirt, but I have no idea how.. I've checked the memories section for instructions or any information, but no luck. Does anyone know how to make them (with a waistband)?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks! :]

Thanks to everyone for their input on the card/phone magnet question. When I make my case, I will DEFINITELY be putting in an extra layer of something, just to make sure.

But in the meantime, I made little SammySung a cozy, just to see if I could.

And lo and behold:

Sorry for the blurriness. Apparently my digicam doesn't like closeups.

Just don't ask me what it was )

*Sighs* Ok.. I was going to make a nice, no-sew, tie blanket for my boyfriend for Valentines Day! Buuut when we went to Walmart last night, I was looking at fleece, and he was feeling it, and he's like "I don't like this material.. it's too sensitive." and I was thinking "Who the heck doesn't like fleece." but anyways.. so this leaves me in a bind... does anyone have any suggestions of what I could use other than fleece for the no-sew blanket?
Thanks in advance!

Hello girls!
This is a sort of odd request...

I have to do a Howto/Demonstration Speech at school in my Honors English class. I have absolutely no idea what to do, but last night I was thinking, hey! Why don't I do something crafty? Of course, I'm not a very crafty person and I don't know how to sew. I was thinking about doing knitting, but I don't know enough about it to do a 4 minute speech on how to do it. So, I was wondering if you, ladies, would like to help me out!

Requirements:
1. I must be able to do it in front of the class.
2. No food or drink
3. Must be between 3 1/2 minutes and four minutes long
4. Whatever I use must be Big, Bold, and Bright. People have to be able to see it.
5. I need 3 visual aids (3 things that people can look at, i.e. posters)
6. No ovens/microwaves etc.

I don't want to do anything that has sewing in it, because I am a horrible sewer and can't sew very fast. If I need to use glue, the amount of drying time won't be a problem because I will have some pre-made ones ready as well.

So, if you think you have an idea, please post!
p.s. I have looked through the memories and couldn't find anything that I wanted exactly. However, if you see something that you think would be a good idea, please link it because I may have overlooked it.
Thanks!

I'm hoping someone can help me out with ideas. I got a set of dishes for Christmas that I can't return. They are nice but very boring/plain white. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do with them to make them interesting. I was thinking about painting them but I'm not very good with paint. I'd really like to find a way to transfer images onto them and have them be dishwasher safe. Anyone? Thanks!
[identity profile] tempestinmymind.livejournal.com
one more thing. I just saw those bowls you can make out of Records and looked in the memories section to get instructions but the link didn't work. Anyone know how to do that? Now I'm fixated on making them.
[identity profile] xxbettyragexx.livejournal.com
So this Friday is me and my boyfriends 4-year anniversary. We want to celebrate by inviting some friends to go out with us to a bar. We picked the bar that's in the bowling ally because the bowling ally is where we first meet. Anyway, I think it's going to be really fun, especially since Friday they're having a Winter Wonderland themed party. There's even going to be prizes for best costumes. So my question to you lovely girls and guys is, what kind of costumes can you think of that go with the winter wonderland theme? So, far we were thinking snowman (though I'm not sure how to go about making a costume and don't know if it would need more time than less than week), and skier (should be easier, complete with skies and homade cast!)Anyone have any other ideas? OOh! Maybe Ice Queen or something with fake white eyelashes and make-up in difeerent shades of blue! I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm making cigar box purses, and im trying to figure out a secure way to keep them closed. Given the way they are made, if the lid opens, there will go my stuff all over the floor (or with my luck in a puddle in the parking lot). So here's the question: If i wanted to use buckles with ribbon, what would be the best way to attatch the ribbon to the box? The one I'm working with now is a cardboard box, so it's too thick to staple, but I'm just afraid glue won't hold. Any advice?

PS A while back I posted in here asking if anyone was in need of old tshirts for crafting. Since there would be money exchange, I'm not going to ask anyone in here, just give a link to the other place I posted this in. http://www.livejournal.com/community/buymydiy/372115.html

i recently obtained a digital camera, and now i get to show everyone what i've made! here is a bag i knitted and then felted:

click here to see it )

it was my first experiment in felting, and it was fun...i don't like most felted patterns, but i thought this one was really cute. i found the pattern for free at magknits.

So I hate it when people post to the site and start off by saying, "So I looked through the memories, but I couldnt find..."

And no matter what the question is, I swear it is something that has been posted within 48 hours, or is easily found by a few simple clicks in the memories section.

But so help me if i can find how to cast on when knitting.

I was all excited because over Christmas, my future sister-in-law taught me how to knit and bought me some needles and yarn. It has now been a full week since I got home, and heaven help me if i cant remember the way you place the yarn over your fingers to start casting on. I remember all the over under over under stuff... just not where the string actually lays.

I know this all sounds silly, but to a beginner who has yet to get herself in the habbit I just cant remember how.

Anyone have a clue? Well I am sure like 90% of you do, but does anyone happen to have a picture on hand?

scarves: 1 and 2 - i want to make one. perhaps these pictures aren't close up enough, but are these crocheted? these scarves have been really popular, and it looks like it uses thin yarn/wool? this angora banana republic one is the same idea i think.

has anyone made one? got photos? is it easy?

So I enjoyed painting my closet door so much (pictures can be seen in my personal livejournal), I thought I'd show you guys my cd shelf.

I got the shelf, completely brown, at an antique store downtown for $10. Brought it home, painted it up, and now it holds my cds. :)

This weekend brought wild experimentation with my sexuality camera. So now I have some much better pictures. And I know someone asked if there was anything I was bad at, and yes, I have found at I am horribly flawed at doll making.

But first, things I'm not so bad at!

Sweet, right? I'm thinking they look 312 times more professional.

I actually took pics for a tutorial while I was making the doll but I think I'm going to wait to post it when I made one not so...terrifying.

As always, thank you for looking.

(if I don't reply to your comment, please don't take offense, I read it and thank you in advance)

Thanks!

I'm new to the group and I quickly search the FAQ and didn't see anything. I hope someone can help.

I have a set of nice Marvy Markers, and I hadn't touched them for a while and of course now it's all dried up. Does anyone have any tips to revive them?

Is it possible to add paint or dye to plaster of paris to make it not so white? I'm casting forms and putting colored stones in them and I'd like something other than the white background and I figured coloring the plaster would be easier than trying to paint it on after.
