hi! Since we are of creative minds in the group I am hoping to find some help here. I have a Bridal Shower this Weekend and I am looking for this Candle gift that I had given. Sadly I have the ceremony all typed up and filed away in my old computer.

What it is, is a basket of candles of assorted colors. You take each candle and say what its for: red for first Christmas, silver for anniversary, yellow first baby.....blah blah blah.. I think it was sweet and the gal is a sucker candles. I could be creative and make my own but well.........(lazy! LOL!). I did some searches and only came up with Unity Candle info.

Have any of you seen/done this?

Help!

Thanks so much!

I just wanted to shout out a big "Thank You!" to all of you who offered your ideas for my new site. We put the suggestions to work last night and it's just getting better and better. I would have had no idea what to do to make it better...and you helped a lot. Thanks again :)

So AMAZING

Ok, so I've been playing around with embedding in resin for jewelry etc. And my first attempt turned out so.freakin.cool I'm beside myself. Anyway...

I'm using Envirotex and am wondering if it ever really cures to hard hard? It's only been 24 hours and they are slightly ummm, "rubbery" for lack of a better term. Still useable, but is there more curing time? Thanks!

Ok, I figured someone on here might appreciate this. It popped up on the Boston SnB list. It's a pattern for a plucked chicken hat for an infant. Because every infant needs a faux piece of raw meat to wear on their heads. If I knew anyone who would appreciate the humor that has an infant, I'd get right to knitting one.

The handflower & headpiece were done in vertical netting. The scarf is simply a length of leftover scrap fabric. The top has been modified using some safety pins and beads. The bracelet and the armband you can't see are simply lengths of wire that I bent into shape. I also made a necklace, but forgot to take a pic of it. Maybe some other time. I also made harem pants and skirts for the outfit. All, of course, for a themed club night a few months back.

my sewing machine is ill :(

the trauma is overwhelming. its this model

anyway, if i turn the wheel at the side the needle goes up and down just fine. if i presss the footpedal i get alot of whirring but no sewing. i'm just wanting to know if this is something anyone else has experienced, and is fixable, before i start to raise the money for the repairman. i tried oiling it and kissing it and promising it if it starts to work again i will always be good to it from now on, but that hasn't worked.

this may be cross posted. any help gratefully recieved

I was supposed to make this in pink faux fur but I found this vinyl for 25 cents a yard!!! So here is my weena messenger bag. The strap will be reversable as soon as I get the dealie to attach it to the bag.

I recently made some earrings and I thought I would post them.

All the earrings except the garnet and hematite pair have sterling silver ear wires. All the stones are natural.

Inspired by this post on Craftster, i decided to give something like this a shot. Not exactly the same thing, but nifty nonetheless. The Man came up with the "name" for these. *chuckles* Not the best thing i've done but they're still pretty nifty.

So, the boyfriend & I went to the library today :D

I found a book on Hallowe'en crafts... unfortunatly I had already reached my limit of art type books, so I had to leave it there... but that's okay, 'cuz it was full of a lot of stuff that didn't interest me

Anyways, onto my point... they had the COOLEST idea in there EVER!! & I committed it to memory so I could make it later, & also share it

It's paper lanterns... take black cardstock, coloured paper, what-have-you, & make a silhouette in a box. Make 4, all sides of the lantern. Glue white tissue paper on the back. Then, this is the best part, take a Glowstick & hang it on the inside! I was so amused by this! (especially since the dollar store near me sells glowsticks)

The other option is to use coloured tissue paper & put the lantern over a regular light, but it's not as easy to just put anywhere, or hang or anything like that

Anyway, just thought I'd share :D
Hope someone finds this useful

Another variation that the boyfriend suggested... we have the large LED christmas lights, so I'm going to make some small lanterns to hang off of them :) They're just white, so I'll use coloured tissue paper.

Perfect for stencils too :)

can someone show me finished pictures that show the difference between purl knitting and "knit stitching" and whatever else? thanks!

i just bought some handspun yarn that i want to take a stab at - also, am i supposed to untwistify the yarn so it's more straight for when i knit it?
[identity profile] gayle-rose.livejournal.com
I couldn't resist )

the first one is crocheted, the second knit. i like the knit one better... i think it *ahem* lays better. I couldnt' find my camera so i scanned them. the knit one scanned poorly since it was black. But you get the idea.

Hope it's Ok to ask here.
Have any of you arty people out there ever done an exhibition in your home and if so do you have any advice for me? I'm thinking of joining in a festival of exhibitions called "Nine days of art in Devon" but I can't afford a venue and one option is to do it at my house. One thing is that I'm a little worried I'm a young girl who lives in a fairly isolated place and I'm home alone a lot so it could be dodgy. Anyway any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Okay, I'm working on these bags for shop, but I need some flesh toned fabric paint pens (peachy and brown tones)to fill in the body. I plan to embroider all the black lines.
Here's one that I have started to paint:
The Fading Star )
The brand of pens I use don't have flesh tones.
I'm having problems finding fabric paint because I don't want any shiny, puffy or plastic looking paints. That, and it has to be paint pen/marker. I have to use pens because I am not skilled with a brush, so if you know of any good paint pens, please let me know. Thanks.

a floor-length gown, specifically. using 2 yards of leftover orange tiger print jersey fabric that was found in the $2 bin and was supposedly geared toward toddlers. no pattern, just 3 hours and lots of trying on.

the real question is, where does one wear a floor length gown made of tiger print jersey fabric? )
