The Stencil I made in Illustrator:
Stencil!
I printed the red layer and the black layer separately, and they were each their own stencil.

I have two pair of slippers that I have been wearing for years. The bottoms are all worn out and all the cushion stuff has fallen out too. Any ideas on how to fix them?

i've had the obsession of wanting to make a dress for a reallly long time now, but i honestly have no idea what i'm doing, although i'd like to think i do.

this is the dress i want to make, except with straps.

it doesn't look that hard to make, but then again, what do i know.

should i make the quilt-like fabric and then get a pattern and use the quilt stuff like normal fabric? or is there another more sensical way of going about it?

thanks so much for any help!

and here's another more complicated idea )

Is there any way to make something, easily, without too many tools, etc..that's like this?

Sorry. These are "floating rocks". I'll need to put them into my turtle tank in water so my turtle can crawl onto them. They are attached by suction cups. I can't mold plastic and dont have a lot of access to any tools, so I was wondering what other material can use that can be in water, etc?
I don't want to buy something that I can make myself. Thanks.

A while back, I asked people for hints about how to re-cover a cheap Walmart rocker.

Turns out it's exactly like making pillowcases!

Although the arms & foot-rest will take a bit more work.

Anyhow, here it is:

after )

I used a thin blanket to cover the seats. The felt is applique'd onto the fabric.

Help!

I need people to vote in this because I'm rather torn on what to do!

background information: zuni fetishes are small animals carved from rock used by native americans (and other cultures) for spiritual guidance, protection, etc etc. [if you've seen disney's "Brother Bear," think back to the rock-carved bear the grandmother gave to the main character, the eagle his brother had, etcetera.]
despite the expensive nature of the tiny treasures, I've started a collection and want to make pocket shrines for them. you're supposed to treat them kindly so they would bless you- I don't believe that they hold spirits as the cultures do, but I do respect the adorable little guys :)

so, I need opinions!!

(sorry for the slight inconvenience.)

I want to take pictures from a coloring book and paint them on my sons wall.
My questions are
1. Is there any kind of rub on transfer paper I could use to get the image out of the book and then on the wall?
2. If I use craft paint is it harder to paint over? We will have to cover anything that we paint so I would like to get something that is easier not harder to cover.
Thanks in advance.

This isn't so much crafty, but we'll see if anyone can help. Does anyone know a good way to get fake nails (press ons, not acrylics)off without destroying the fake nails? I don't want to use acetone because they'll melt but that's really the only thing I know that will get the glue off. Any ideas?

So, I was insanely bored this evening and decided to leave beading for a while and venture into the world of sewing! Here is my first attempt:

i went to joann's, got some cards and ribbon and cute tissue paper and buttons and fabric and decided that i'm going to make some super-cool valentines for my friends this year.
but then i encountered a problem:
tissue paper is really thin. oops. forgot about that.
how do i put it onto the card? like, i just want a stripe across it - glue would be too thick, wouldn't it? wouldn't it get all blotchy and lumpy and ugly? or tear or something?
i'm sorry if this is a stupid question or something, but i just really want these cards to turn out nice. thanks so much for any help you can give.

GAGA the LOVEBUG
From the Lovebug Collection

Out of nowhere, the LOVEBUGS appeared! These little critters must have been shot with the arrows of cupid, because all they can think about is love! Gaga got his name because he gets gaga-oogly-eyed over every pretty girl he sees. Hand-stitched with magneta & black felt and stuffed with polyester fiber-fill! :)

I'm going to be making another Lovebug, named Woo!
Would've made her already, but would you believe the craft stores are OUT OF RED FELT!?

Specifically, I'm making a replica of this character, so there's little room for improvisation in the clothing. The only problem I'm having planning it involves the material for her socks. For those who don't feel like clicking, the socks are a sheer dress fabric, much like nylon knee-highs.

Can I buy a cheap pair of nylons and make them into socks for her, or will they turn into a run-riddled mess no matter what I do? I'd have to stretch them tight to get them to stay up on her legs.

Okay, Plan B: what kind of sheer, semi-transparent fabric would you recommend?

Also, if anyone has any tips on making a doll-sized pleated skirt (like a Japanese schoolgirl's uniform skirt), they're very welcome.

I bought some of that plain gellie stuff for gel candles and I want to make a candle with stuff imbedded in it. Now my question is, I want to make the items out of sculptey and paint them. Will this be ok with the candle medium or will the paint run and look icky?

Thanks!
