These things always take longer than you think. I'm pretty happy with the results though. When I started, I thought I was going to cover them with shiny beads and sequins and stuff, but I changed my mind. They seem finished already! We're going to put them up on the wall by her crib tomorrow.

(1) I asked about this once and nobody offered any ideas. I bought a jewelery box and didnt like what was on top of it so i took it off and planned on painting it and adding a stencil or something. I changed my mind and decided on buying a mirror and breaking it into a bunch of pieces and then glueing the pieces on so it pretty much covers the entire top.
How should I go about breaking the mirror. Like should I put a towel over it or put it in a bag?

(2) I bought a pair of canvas maryjane/flat type shoes and they give me blisters on the back of my ankles. Does anyone know of a way to soften the top backs of the shoes or any other remedy or am I just going to have to use good old fashion bandaids everytime I wear them?

thank you :)

In hopes of being more comfortable with posting pictures, here are some necklaces I've made.....I use vintage buttons and charms.....The large pearl necklace is going to cmdean, she has started over the years owning many pieces of mine! We like to swap crafts and artwork! I really like to play with color, and that's how you get cmdean attached!
Well i could go on and on about her, cause she is my great friend, but here are some necklaces!

My friend's birthday is in 2 weeks, and I must must must must MUST make her a cape.  We're both obsessed with Phantom of the Opera, and therefore the cape that the Phantom wears.  I don't care how long it takes for me to make it, I don't have a need to rush it.  It can be a super belated birthday present, and I can give her something else for her real birthday.

Here are some pictures for reference. )

hey girlies. i'm a newbie here...so forgive me if i ask a question that has been answered a million times. i checked the memories...but i might've missed something.

alright...so i have a question about interfacing:

i have been using pellon peltex (#70) and it seems to work well. but it's much to expensive and i'm looking into buying by the bolt. i've come across extra heavy duty pellon stabilizer (#65). does anybody have any experience with it? and how does it compare to the pellon peltex?

thank you so much for your time and feel free to delete this if this post is inappropriate...

i don't know if this is just wishful thinking or not, but i was wondering if any of you ladies knew of a website that had patterns for shirts, skirts, dresses and the like? i am finally getting my very first sewing machine (my mom ordered it for me :D) and would love to have some patterns to look at. thanks to anyone who responds :)

I totally stole this idea after seeing a bag [livejournal.com profile] frumpgirl posted.
I found the plastic pencil cases at Michael's for $0.50. I intended to paint them with acrylic paint, but apparently acrylic paint and plastic do not work well together...haHa
So I took out my stash of stickers and created this:
Your Mom Is A Hooker )
I made one for my guy friend at work, minus the girlie flower type stuff and thus...less boring. I do not have very many manly stickers.
But I think it is cute. It serves its purpose. :)

It took me...$0.50 for the for the pencil box and some stickers I had laying around...and maybe 5 minutes. The stickers are from a packet I got at A.C. Moore for $1. It was one of those...1,001 stickers for a dollar or something like that...I think I got it on sale for $0.70 though...haha

And it is the perfect size to store most, if not all, of my crochet hooks. I have not tried the larger ones (like P) so I don't know how well those will work. It also holds my safety pins, yarn needles and a pair of scissors and will fit in my bag or crocheting bag. And as a bonus, it snaps shut! So no loose crochet hooks all over my bag anymore.
