The line on the shirt is something my girlfriend said in regards to something that none of you would get, so I won't bother rambling about that, noooo. I still think it's cute even if you don't *get* it, though. So!, I made that stencil myself, weeee. So proud. After cutting it out though, I was in no mood to do a bunch of letters, so I freehanded that. Don't think it came out too shabby at all. I also sewed in that fishnet, nothing much. And as long as we're on the subject, I made the hemp necklace. Hope you like ^^

There is a boy at my school who looks like a thumb. Me and my friends secretly love him. We discuss his non-stop. Now we can wear it. These aren't very complicated. Nor are my sentences. But I havent posted in a while )

Now... Today I am going to work on shadow boxes. I have painted them and whatnot, but I have no idea what to put inside of them. They are pretty deep, so I think photos will be too dark, but should I put like... little trinkets or soemthing? The flow of my room is very soothing and calm, all in grey and green with a wouyld floor. Any help. <3

pee dot ess. a few days ago, there was that cracked marbel tutorial. Where did you go my sweet? Can we add you to memories?

I need some help :( I know this isn't the best place to ask.. But because many of you crafters do screenprinting and scrapbooking, and are exposed to different fonts.. I was hoping someone could help me identify this one. I did a website update a long time ago and fell in love with this font:

But I can't find it on my computer now, and I want to find it again. Does anyone recognize it? I can redo all the type on my website if I have to.. But I don't want to, if I can relocate the font I used in the first place it would be great! Thank you. <3

I recieved my swatches today and some of them are huge! well, like 5x7, but I think that's quite generous for a swatch.

HOWEVER...I also recieved swatches that were not meant to be sent to me. There are 3 silk rod pocket swatches that were supposed to go to a Carrie in Gainesville, FL. If you are she, feel free to comment here or in my journal. I'll send them along as soon as I can.

Olfa cutting mats are on sale for 40% off at JoAnn's. Is Olfa a good brand? I think they also carry Fiskars, but those are not on sale. I need this mostly for protecting my table when making models for my scene design class. Quilting is probably in my future too, but not immediately.

I've jumped on the kanzashi flowers bandwagon and did try to make some.
I picked up the ugliest fabrics I could find (ha ha - thing is when I first try to make something I use materials that I'm not worried to mess with) and, obvious to me, I added little poms at the center, instead of buttons or jewels.

Hey! There's more and a question... )

okay i'm having a little problem. i bought some fresh water pearls and crystals and some other beads so i could make earrings for sadie's which is feb. 26. my problem is that the holes in the pearls are too small for the head pins i have, but the other beads fit. does anyone know of a way to either make the hole bigger with out cracking my pearls or maybe shaving down the head pin? any help would be very much appreciated!

This is my first post here, I'm a long-time lurker though. I'm Becca, I'm 15, I'm from Hertfordshire...

Anyway, here's a bag I made. It's the first thing I've actually made myself, but I've made a couple of skirts and a sewing case in school, which I was pretty proud of too. Here it is:

http://img23.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img23&image=bag8ec.png

And a bit more close up:

http://img177.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img177&image=bag24nm.png

I had to make it a link because when I just put the picture in it went ridiculously huge...

I know it's far from perfect and the stitching is really wonky, but I still like it. I couldn't resist making it. I was sitting there staring at my favourite pair of black cords with the big rip in them and I decided to give them a new life as a bag :D I used the waistband as the bit along the bottom of the flap, and some old lining fabric that I had leftover from a skirt I made to line the bag and to be the underside of the strap (unfortunately my camera's batteries ran out before I had a chance to take a picture of the bag open with its lining showing :()

So, what does anyone think? Constructive criticism appreciated.

Man, I hope this works... I just spent like 30 minutes trying to work out how to use Image Shack, it's changed since I last used it hehe... *hits self*

A quick question!

My iron is covered with about two years worth of acrylic paint, fusable interfacing, no-sew adhesive, and other miscellaneous substances that should not be found on an iron. It still works well enough, but I'm sick of ruining things whenever I iron them.

What's an easy and cheap way to get all this junk off? Will just plain soap and water work, or is there some special substance I need to use?

Thanks!

Yay! I got a webcam for christmas, and I'm just now getting around to posting some things. Under the cut is a shirt I stenciled for a friend last year, and a Stencil I used on a purse a few days ago.

Stencil fun! )

Hey y'all

I want to start doing some silkscreening and I have some organza and embroidery hoops that will work well. However, I'm not sure what to put on the screen to block out where I don't want the paint to go. I've heard that I can use Mod Podge, but that it will warp and degrade after a few washings. I want my screens to last for a while and need some suggestions for a more permanent material. I live in L.A. and have access to craft stores, hardware stores, art supply stores and the like.

Thanks in advance!

Yay!

I managed to sew my sister a haori (japanese overcoat type thingy).

I used Black cotton material from ikea (rather cheap i might add) and made the design myself after looking at other similar things on't internet. It took me about 2 hours to put together, and im toying with making them for people (trying to get hold of them in the UK is so expensive!).

so yeah! My first foray into this land of craftyness....toying with trying out kanzashi, but since the owner of gaigin geisha is a close friend im not sure i dare even try!
The kanzashi submitted a while ago look fantastic btw!

I am looking for a sleep mask pattern to sew. Anyone have a pattern? :) I am thinking about possibly modifying a pattern when I get it to allow tea bags to be placed into it.

I was just wondering if anyone in this community is ever looking for extra help with projects or interested in starting an on-line store? I’ve been interested in doing something along those lines for a while, but I just never had enough time in the past.

more info )

If you know of any other places where I might be able to post this please let me know. Thanks in advance

I keep seeing all these earings that you girls are making and I so wish I had picture of the ones my Aunt Cathy and Aunt Marianne used to make.

The idea was that they kept losing on these dollar lottery tickets that they always bought and so they just got an idea to fold them in half and then into a fan and then shalac or mod podge them into earrings. They took there losings and made them into a productive win. They made some money off of them. I am not sure of the legalities of doing that at all, but they were pretty cute and funny and they sold them like crazy in the 80's and early 90's. I am not sure if they do it anymore, but they were fun to see.

I will try and see if my mom still has the pair they gave to her and post pics of them.
