I am jumping on the kanzashi bandwagon! I made mine really huge and more hip than traditional. All the fabric and the pompoms except for the purple fabric were from the www.distinctivefabric.com free swatches. Thanks to someone in this community for the tip!

If anyone needs it, I can make a tutorial. It took me a while to figure out the other tutorials that were posted, they must be for advanced crafters! I used cardboard, fabric, and a hot glue gun!

does anyone know where i can order vulva chocolate molds? the only place i can find them is http://www.streichs.com/ and i'm so disgusted by their lack of customer service that i refuse to order from them. (and since they can't seem to figure out my shipping, and keep rejecting my e-mails, ordering from them isn't really an option even if i was willing to)

but they have such a good selection!

any other ideas? (i'd prefer somewhere that you've actually ordered from, and could therefore tell me how your experience was, but i'm getting frustrated and desperate, so really, anything's good!)

I didn't make this, but it was a gift given to my mom last Christmas. Her friend Suzanne is really good at doing really crafty little projects & I thought I would show everyone here, since I think it's pretty cool, and maybe it might inspire some people here, or something :)

It's a cylindrical-type box she covered in old pictures of my mom and our family. Inside the box were little tree ornaments decorated in the same way.

Pictures behind the cut.

Not the best picture, sorry guys, but...This is a purse that I made for myself over Christmas break. It features an Anne Taintor postcard under vinyl on the front (which reads "he was not as fascinating as he had once appeared"), and a cool magnetic clasp thingie that I picked up at WalMart. Overall, I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Hey everybody! I was inspired by this tutorial to make a portable beading kit for a friend's birthday. I'm not a beader (?) myself, so I was wondering what would be best to include in the kit. I assume beading needles, thread, and containers for the beads themselves, but is there anything else I should add?
If you have any other suggestions for the kit, I'm all ears!

SOCKEHS.

I plan on making something out of a bunch of my old socks. All of my socks are white though, so that would be too boring.

Do you think I could dye socks with food dye? Like if I mix up the Easter Egg dye recipe ((vinegar, hot water, and quite a bit of food dye)) and soak my socks in it, do you think that they would take the dye? Or would it wash out.

I painted an old cigarette container last night wit acrylic paint, and I want to seal it so the paint doesnt scratch off. What do you use to fix that? Please help!

I'm sure you've all thought about this before, but I thought I'd share my idea in case it hadn't occurred to someone...

I thought of a really simple way to make garment tags for homemade clothing and stuff. Just buy some 1" wide ribbon, cut off pieces that are about 2" in length, fold it so the cut edges are together, and sew the cut edges right into a hem or seam. To personalize it, you can draw/write on it with thin Sharpies, textile markers, etc.

Like said, I'm sure that most of you have already thought of this, but I figured I'd put it out there. *shrug*

EDIT: Also, as mentioned by someone in the comments below, you could machine/hand embroider little designs onto them if you wanted to. That would take care of the marker-bleeding problem.

Help help help!!

I'm in the process of making a skirt for a friend of mine, the top is going to be drawstring & everything is all sewn up.

& the problem... How do I string the tie through the top?

I thought I could just kinda push it though & it would easily go in, but I was very wrong.

& here's a picture just incase you have no idea what I'm talking about...

EDIT: Attach a safety pin to the string! Haha, I got it, thanks ladies!! =))

I'm gona keep this post up incase anyone else can learn from seeing it.

Has anyone ever done any silicone casting? I am trying to make a 3d cast of something, but I can't find any resources that sell silicone. Has anyone seen any around?

I bought a new jacket a few weeks ago and deemed it a light winter coat. Well, screw it. It's really cold still, but it's too cute not to wear. My last cutest coat was a dark grey, and accordingly none of my scarves matched this new Kermit-green (with Miss Piggy pink lining--colors deemed by my boyfriend).

And the bug really got up my butt today so I made a scarf with the yarn I'm using for a hopeful afghan in my future. I've got about 25 granny squares so far, and because they're small they keep my interest well, but we'll see how it goes since I need about 245 left to make.

Anyway, here's the jacket with the scarf...

The colors are off since the sun's already mostly set )

A simple half-double-crochet, took maybe two hours, and it wraps around my neck twice. My aunt and I have a yarn shopping date tomorrow too, so now I've got to hunt down some good expensive yarn projects.

Has anyone ever sent for the fabric scraps that are advertised on the inside of a package of Wrights bias tape? If so, what kind of stuff did you get? How big were the pieces? Thanks! I'm thinking of sending for some, but I want to make sure that it's worth the $4.
[identity profile] whynotsaylove.livejournal.com
hello everyone. :o)

i was wondering... is there such a thing as metallic spray paint? like gold and bronze that actually has a bit of shine to it? i was thinking about it as an alternative to stenciling by hand.

do you think gold or bronze would mesh well with mossy greens? i am really bad at color coordinating!

also, what has been your experience getting stencils at michaels? is there a good selection?

and finally... is there a stencil supplier i can check out a website for before i go shopping? maybe a standard brand name that michaels and walmart would carry?

sorry for the deluge of questions! i would appreciate your help though. :o)

First time posting....
Been broke, found these unpainted little boxes in the back of my closet and paint in my stash of crafty things. YAY for crafting! It's been so long!
I love to make cool things out of stuff just lying around!

Be forewarned that the pix are fairly huge, for which I'm quite sorry. >.<
