I absolutely love this stuff! I made these chocolate heart truffle erasers right before Valentine's day. Amazingly they are also functional and do erase writing in pencil better than I thought they would.

Yes, it's me again =)

So, i finished this tonight:

Now I need your help with ideas on what to do with it. A pillow? Frame it?
The fabric is quite big so there's plenty of room to do a pillow for instance.
I'm not sure that's what I want to do, though.

at last, my dear canon elph has been returned to me. oh camera, how i missed you.
enough of that.

here is a perfectly lovely dilemma for you crafty ones to ponder:

this morning i woke up with a hankering for some old time knitting, so i skipped about and gathered some needles and yarn, and though how lovely a new bag would look.

so i started myself a marvelous purse, but now i realize it is a good four inches too wide. oh, what to do with four vestigal inches?

should i make myself a bigger bag (it would be a very very large bag), or knit myself something even more lovely than a silly old bag? if the latter, what could i create?

i feel lost and helpless

Tonight i got adventurous with with duct tape, since everybody went home this

Long time lurker, first time... oh, you know the deal. Anyway, here's a shortened skirt, which isn't all that exciting but it's one of my first projects ever so I'm very proud of it.

Have you landed yet and, if so, would you let me know? )

Edit: I have no idea why this stuff isn't showing up... I swear I did the html right... anyone know what's wrong?

Edit #2: Oops... thanks for the help!

The cover of the book I've been working on, this book is made entirely from scratch and is kettle sewn with 3 sections. The book is meant to look aged and ragged, so precision wasn't needed with the cutting and binding. I've stained the cover with tea after binding it and I've sandpapered the spine cloth to make it look a little more worn.

I've generally been crafty lately. Lots of swirling ideas in my head.

I spent all my money today on craft supplies at walmart :( I've found that they have the best selection of cute plastic beads... big chunky ones and animal shaped ones. So cute. They also have great fabric remnant prices.

x-posted my journal (plus more info)

I was inspired to make a purse out of Dum Dum wrappers after seeing one in the memories. However, I usually am not great with following tutorials and like to design things with my own style... so that's what I did. I used clear packing tape to make three sheets of wrappers and then hand stitched them together into a purse with that string that's used to make friendship bracelets. Then I reinforced it with extra tape. I attached a rainbow striped ribbon for a handle and then used an old nylon vest for the lining, using a hot glue gun to secure it inside. It even has a zipper pocket in it! I also used velcro to close the purse.

Are there any good crafty magazines geared specifically for (clothing/fashion) designers?
[identity profile] toastess.livejournal.com
so i was discussing scarves with one of my friends (yay for discussing designers with gay guys ^_^) and he showed me this one that he had just bought... )
[identity profile] laureldaprodigy.livejournal.com
Yeah, I'm not a terribly crafty person, but hey, I like to do it, even if my things don't turn out very nice.

Today I decided to make toast with scraps of felt and my terrible hand sewing skills.

I had this comic fabric lying around in my room for ages and I originally intended for it to be a skirt, but I was in dire need of hoodies. So I took an old hoodie from my old elementary school, cut it apart at the seams and used it as a pattern. I cut the front in half so I can put a zipper in and this is what I came up with.

details, etc. etc. )

so, my friend asked me to make her a shirt about a week ago. she wanted me to sew big, colorful buttons on a plain white t-shirt. nothing too complicated or special, but i thought it turned out rather cute.

Does anyone have experience with making/refinishing belt buckles?
Can you even find a plain one?
I want to make something like this...

but it doesn't have to be that detailed around the edges.
Just something simple.

Any suggestions?

I swear im addicted to these things!

Well someone posted about dying your hair with Kool Aid the other day... I have kind of medium brown hair, and I didn't want to do any drastic changes, so I just decided to use red cherry Kool Aid to put a few highlights in my hair. I just tried one strand first and it turned out pretty cool. I didn't bleach it first or anything, so it is just a strip of dark red. So now I am going to do more. Just thought I would put this out there for anyone who has been wondering about this process... it works and it's really cool!

Anyway I also have a question. Stupidly I didn't use any gloves doing this, and now my fingers are all red. Bah! Does anyone know how to get Kool Aid off your hands, or do I have to walk around like this for a week or so? Haha thanks for any help...

EDIT:: Aha, I found the post that had the instructions for it... This is where I got the idea: clicky :)

i hope this counts as a craft. i felt quite crafty doing it.

so when i was in egypt last summer, i acquired a papyrus that became the bane of my existence. from the moment i set eyes on it in the papyrus museum (if ever you are in egypt and see the words "papyrus museum," RUN AWAY!!!), to it taking up ALL the room in my suitcase on the way home (it's HUGE), to trying to get it framed.

when i took it to aaron brothers, the best quote they could give me was over $500. and being a poor college student, if i had an extra $500 to throw around, it would not be to get my papyrus framed.

so i took a little visit to the craft store. a piece of foam core board, some velvet, acid-free fabric glue, and a picture hanging kit later, it was hanging on my wall at the fraction of the price i was quoted.

I just finished my first sample of a tsumami kanzashi. I plan on making the designs of these more complex for future pieces. I guess this is okay for a start. I am hooked on making these now.

This candle was insanely easy to make out of old candles with pretty colors and scents. The layers (from bottom to top) smell like raspberry sorbet, rocky road, key lime pie, malibu beach, chocolat fudge, and the whipped cream is cherry vanilla.

Because I'm one of those weird girls that has to finish a project the same day she starts it or it will never get finished...

I made this today.

I made it for my boyfriend who's moving from Tampa to St. Louis to come be with me this summer.

Hi everybody, I'd like you all to meet Fifi, my very first monster. She is one of my first sewing projects, so her stitching can best be described as 'poor', but what she lacks in craftsmanship she makes up for in cuteness. Instead of monster swap, I am mailing these little beasts to friends and family members who need cheering up.

Hi,
I was thinking of trying to sell my earrings and braclets etc through local shops, I can thik of one place in particular I could target and I think my things would sell to the clientel of that shop. I was wondering if any of you had this kind of arrangement, and what financial arrangements you have with the shop owner (comission etc) and how you went about approaching the shop.
Cheers
Zi
xx
**Edit: the place i was thinking of sels vintage clothing, and its not exactly a boutique, and its quite cheap and so popular with the students, who i think would buy my stuff as its kind of quirky!**
