So I just made what I think is the coolest thing, well, ever. heh. Ok, so it's not *that* cool, but I like it. A lot. I painted some flowery fabric I had, backed it (one with yellow, one with khaki) and made such neat pouches. Wanna see? Ok!

So...because of this very community and www.craftster.org I've been trying to refocus onto being creative and crafty. Here are some of my projects!

Martini Mosaic Table )

I also crochetted a little hat for myself...but I'll post those pics later. THANKS FOR ALL THE INSPIRATION!

I just got a job at my local michael's craft store.

EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS?

I am in heaven.

Does anyone else work at Michael's?

I'm having so much fun making these! I wrote up a tutorial on how I made them, so if you like them you can make some too.

...instructions here...

For V-day, I made a hat for my boyfriend. He didn't get it until after V-day, since he lives in the 'States and I live in Japan.

I made this hat using SnB's "HotHead" as a template, and my own chart that said "f=ma"-- the formula for entropy. (Yes, my boyfriend is a geek.)

So, without further ado.... five pictures )
Thanks for being such an inspirational community, and for rocking!!!

I found this wonderful site when I was looking for images of 1918 evening dresses (help anyone?), and thought it was such a wonderful and inspiring idea that I want to share it.

"The patchwork pattern was meant to symbolize how society, composed of many very different and loosely connected individuals, could and should become a concordant 'whole'. Just as the little pieces of cloth in the skirt, although completely different in colour, shape, size and structure, together formed a new whole in which the pieces blended together - so Dutch society, after the horrendous war, should become a whole that was more than its parts, to which all the components, new and old, bright and ugly, would contribute their share."

I'm very tempted to sew one of my own, using patches of fabric from old school dresses and sheets and such like. I know it's not anywhere near as symbolic as the original skirts, but I'll get use out of it and it's nifty way to acknowledge how strongly memories can be associated with a piece of fabric. I think we too often rely on photographs for such things.

A knitted hamburger? Knitted strawberry cake? I think I'm in love...

Knitted Cappucinos, Pears, & Truffles, Oh My!

Actually, I'm not sure whether these are knitted or crocheted, but they are about the cutest things ever. Oh how I wish there were instructions! Can anybody read this website?

This is not about selling something but I was hoping all you creatives could give me a hand and post your favorite online web boutique.
I am looking for online stores similar to the following links -

http://www.thedramastore.org/?&bookmark=1

http://www.day-lab.com/

http://www.buyolympia.com/q/sid=436357959/

http://www.fredflare.com/customer/home.php

WHERE A VARIETY OF:
fun, cool, interesting, "hand made", punky, edgey, bizarre, unique, one-of-a-kind, modern, hip, funky, silly, smart, girly, artsy...

SORTS OF:
Objects, Art, Cards, Zines, Music, Media, T-shirts, Books, Fashion, Posters, Scarves, Stuffed creatures, Buttons, Jewelry Etc... Are for sale, reasonably priced.

I am not looking for a shop that only sells one thing - so like NOT a shop specializing in zines or NOT just a t-shirt/clothing shop - but a place where there are lots of different artists/suppliers and lots of different products sold - online. Also, obviously not ebay. Check out the links I am sending to see what I mean.

I am looking for a shop that caters to 20-35 year old women or stylish guys - or just plain ol' cool people - not teens, not places with fendi purses or big brand names - nothing solely for goths and nothing solely for Hilton-esque types.

Also the shop should not be the equivalent to "Urban Outfitters" or any national chain - I am looking for the diamond in the rough - an un-mined resource of online goodies and gumdrops. Think of the coolest persons you know, maybe that is you, and ask them if they have any special shops they know of.

Can you post any links that you or your b/f/f's covet?
Thanks so super much in advance!

Well, seeing as it was a snow day today I decided to exercise my crafty-ness and make something(s)...

Starburst Wrapper Wallet.

This is my second one of these. I got sick of the old one, it only used the original four colors. Didn't take long to make, about a half hour. Used: about 16 Starburst Wrappers, Packing Tape and Scissors. Quite easy to make, I can do a tutorial if anyone wants.

Juicyfruit/ Gum Wrapper Necklace.

I've made many of these over the past few days. I found a stash of old gum wrappers (I used to collect them for some odd reason) and decided to do something neat with them. Yet again, quite easy to make, I can do a tutorial if anyone wants.

iPod Cozy

After recently purchasing an iPod (his name is Griffin) I decided to make a lovely little case to protect him from the elements/ scratches. It was a (practically) no sew case. I made it with felt that had a sticky side on the back, lots of craft stores have it, i just made a pattern from the iPod's size and used a double layer of the felt. The only sewing I did for mine was stitching on the clasp. For a third time, quite easy to make, I can do a tutorial if anyone wants.

Easy Ribbed Scarf.

After finishing the past 3 projects, I decided I needed something a little less thought intensive so I started knitting this while listening to my newly bought iPod in its spiffy cozy. The scarf is just 1x1 ribbing with some old wool I had lying around. The real reason I put this here, seeing as it's not totally complete yet (Ive got about a foot left to knit) is for your opinions. To tassel or not to tassel, that it the question. I'm kinda stuck between both ideas, what do you think?

I saw a bag like this before on here or on craftster. I can't remember where. I thought that the idea was neat.

i had a whole back and forth conversation in the comments of a post about resin mold release with someone a while ago.

we were talking about using cooking spray for mold release.

does anyone remember?

i think her icon had kirsten dunst in it, but i might have made that up.
i can't even remember how long ago it was.

i forgot to put it in my memories, and now i REALLY need it!

EDIT!
i found it! it's in the comments if anyone else is interested!
i'm adding it to my memories immediately.

mod podge

[identity profile] evilpeach.livejournal.com
what do you guys use to apply mod podge and the like? Is there one type of glueish stuff you like more than others? anything that works better than others?

I only had enough money for some cheapy sponge brushes and matte mod podge, but I was wondering if anyone has a preference with these sorts of craft supplies

work can pretty much include anything: art, sewing, music, writing, etc.

I just bought Reynolds Freezer Paper and on it, it says "plastic coated." I've seen people comment about how wax paper wouldn't work for stenciling because it'd ruin the iron and it's different. But I've also seen people say that Freezer paper is paper on one side and wax on the other side. It *is* the right paper, right? Thanks! :c)

This is the paper I have )

So I come to you with questions, because I couldn 't find anything in the memories. To decorate my cellphone/ipod/whatever with little crystals...

1 - I have BeJewler crystals (with the heat activated glue on the back). I'm certainly not going to use heat near my phone. Would that glue affect the adhesion, or is there another kind of crystal I can/should use?

2 - I hear cement glue is the glue to use. Do you agree? Does it work? Will it mess up the phone's finish?

3 - What would be a good material to use to make a protective case for the bejeweled phone?

I got bored and made my camera a little pouch. Tee hee.
