hi everyone!
ive been a lurker for a while, and im finally ready to post
im going to try to stencil for the first time on sunday. ive tried reading up on as many different ways.
i have stencils on my computer, and ideas, now there are a couple things im wondering
ive heard people say that they love to use freezer paper to do stencils, how would that work? print it on the freezer paper, and cut it out on there? print it and iron it? im confused here
tulip fabric paint is good right? or should i buy acrylics and medium?
roller or paint brush?
when i stencil it on, should i stretch the shirt out onto cardboard to allow for strenching once its on?
feel free to add anything else you think i should know
thank you <3

okay this is driving me nuts, and i can't find it.
i added a post to my bookmarks and my bookmarks got wiped last week. it was a shirt someone had made i think with white birds on it, on a blue shirt. if anyone knows where that post is or knows where to find a stencil of some flying sea birds/seagulls, please help me out.

Tea for Tek!

A teacup for my friend Tek, who is deciding on a new domain for her website (formerly fivelittlecups.com / teacupwish.com). Crocheted with off-white, peach, and brown acrylic worsted weight yarn with a size H hook. The cup is stuffed with polyester fiber-fill so it's squishy. :)

2 questions
I was just inspired to make an earing holder out of platic canvas. All we have is boring clear though. Do you think acrylic paint would work on it?
I was also just inspired to cover my bedroom phone with rhinstones. My mom said I could do it, but she wants to be able to get them off when I move out. What's the best way to go about attaching them?
Thanks bunches!

look at the pretty altoids tin i made into a trinket box
instead of lining the bottom inside, i encased seed beads in clear resin
then lined the top inside with leather
and did a brushed steel thing on the outside
and added little glass feetsies
( lookie lookie )

After about four days of straight work, I finished the rest of these shirts. I don't ever want to see one again, much less print another one. ughhh.
I'm printing Decemberists Kickball Game next and I had some questions. Under the cut!

any tips on making your own picture frames? I've googled the idea but everything has to do with wood pictures frames.

Has anyone seen (online) tiny craft punches? Someone sent me a card punched with a tiny star. I checked local stores with no luck. Any help? Thanks!

I know a lot of you (and me!) might want to sell your crafty things at fairs and stuff (not in here, of course!), but there's always the struggle over how to price things without driving any customers away OR ultimately paying yourself slave wages.
The other day I was in JoAnn's and I spotted a book called Handmade for Profit. It looked a little cutesy and cheesy, but I flipped it open anyway. I randomly opened it to the chapter on pricing, and it's wonderful! It picks apart seller and buyer psychology, and it tells you things that you really would never think to try or trust. It puts a lot of things in perspective. According to the author, yes, you can be paid a dignified amount from selling crafts AND cover your costs AND make a profit. I haven't tried any of the ideas myself, but I think the advice is valuable and sensible. The copy I read was written in 1995, but I think it's still relevant. I'd at least get it from the library again and read it all the way through.
Hope that helps someone out there!

Hey crafty people :o)
I have a quick question. I'm making a controller pocketbook and I was wondering if there was any way to attach felt pieces together without sewing them? I could sew, but they're a lot of small pieces and I don't want the hastle of changing thread 4 or 5 times. Thanks!!

horse and pig play!
Mar. 12th, 2005 09:36 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Hello! I currently work at a group home for individuals with disabilities. One of the woman in the house expressed that she liked horses, and I’ve been thinking of ways to entertain her. The best idea I came up with is to make a hand puppet of a horse. I was also thinking to make a pig for the other two ladies in the house so they wouldn’t feel left out. So my question would be if anyone could think of materials I might need? I’d want these to be durable enough that if they should need to be washed then they could be without a problem. So if you have any ideas please share :o). thanks in advance

My friend sent me a painted cassette tape a few years back.
The problem that i have is that every time i try to play it, it gets stuck in the tape deck, (and just now i think that it actually broke it.) The paint (which i am pretty sure is acrylic) appears to be gunked into all the little holes and crevices.
does anyone have any ideas on how to safely remove the paint so i will not damage the tape?
