Needing some help....

My boyfriend has trouble with his skin which gets very irritated when he gets warm/hot. It happens outside, inside, on the bus, in the car... everywhere. the attacks are bad and he says it feels like his skin is on fire. He's going to the dermatologist and everything, but I'm trying to find a couple of "quick fixes" that might help him out.

In addition to a body scrub, does anyone else have any ideas about some things that would fit in his car or my purse for when we're out and he has some kind of heat rash attack? I need something that will cool him down quickly, like maybe some kind of cloth with something on it that i could rub over his back. i thought about maybe some cotton pads with some kind of mint oil in them, since that can cool really quickly.

The catch: i can't use lotion or anything that will clog his pores. I'm justkind of burnt out on ideas for the moment... anyone have any suggestions?

I also want to make him one of those cool pack things... the ones that you fill with flaxseed or rice. How do those work? how long do they hold "coolness"? what's better, rice or flaxseed or something else?

As for the body scrub, I've found a couple of recipes, but I was wondering if anyone had any real "tride and true" recipes that really work out for them. I need a recipe for some kind of really intense body scrub. I need something plain-ish, though, so I can mix other things into it, like mint, fragrance, etc. It needs to be very abraisive and exfoliating, but also good for the skin.

sorry if this isn't entirely coherent. i just had my tonsils out and am kind of out of it.

EDIT:
also - what are the little containers that body scrubs come in called? I'm trying to find a place online to buy them, but I can't really find a word that gets what I'm looking for. I want the little about 2-3 inch tall bottles with screw on caps. meh. rarr.

I have tonnnns of little silver charms- as in, way too many to ever put on a bracelet. Any fun ideas for a way to display them?

Went through the mem's and found stuff concerning painting leather shoes, and found stuff saying that using acrylic paint on shoes won't work (RAIN), and stuff about tranfers (but they crack)...

Any ideas on how to decorate canvas shoes without them being ruined?

I want to make
shoes like this
or possibly shoes like this. But I don't want them to bleed. Or crack. Is there some kind of top coat I can put over it?

Alternatively, if anyone has any info on the brand on the purple shoe (Zucca? I've searched for it and have only come up with upscale boots and such), lemme know. I want them. And need them.

EDITx2: Eh...lemme upload the second pic to my host... There.

My sister ([livejournal.com profile] theapostleinme) is awesome! She sews all the time but most people don't get to see her creations. I started an art class at the community college last week and she offered to make me a pencil case that rolls up to keep my pencils from breaking and getting all scummy. It's very detailed and she made it without a guide or a pattern. I <3 it.

First post. We're making a prom dress for a friend and hopefully we'll put up pictures of that, too. :)

I crocheted my first doll today. Everything is handmade with yarn. The body, skirt, and heart are crocheted and the face is embroidered with yarn. The hair is tyed-on yarn which can be styled in many ways. :) I am pretty happy with it. As is probably self-evident, all was free-form.

Help!

My best friend's birthday is tomorrow, and I want to make her something crafty. Something edible and crafty. Something that isn't chocolate dipped spoons, which is mostly what I saw in the memories.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

So I'm a bit confused :(

I went on
http://www.elainecraft.com/instructions/var2.sq.html
to find some information on macrame. And its well explained on how to make knots, but I have no idea how I'd go about ending this. There's loops that the bracelet hangs on, but what would I do at the end?
Here's a picture of what I want to make )

I have this extra large t-shirt my boyfriend gave me that I want to make into a smaller shirt. I was thinking probably more towards a tank top, because its going to be hard to take in the sleeves and such without making it look horible. I might just make a tube top out of it, and attach straps to it maing it a tank top. Does anyone have a tutorial or have any ideas on how I can start this?

Thanks!

Quick! What's something fast and cute I can make out of felt?
[identity profile] renai.livejournal.com
I know this has been asked before, but there isn't anything in the memories, and it would be impossible to find the posts.

I need to find a place online where I can buy 8 oz. or 12 oz. plastic jars to package my sugar scrubs. The problem is that most places have a minimum order of $50, which I can't afford right now. Is there anywhere online that caries packaging supplies that doesn't require a minimum purchase?

Help!

This was a christmas present for my friend Alicia. It is made up of nine 8x10 sheets of paper, measuring out to about 25x30. It took about a day in the darkroom to set it up (had to drag an easel into the room and set up a black foam board) and to do tests, and another day to print the one you see here. I tried to make a copy for myself, but while it was exposing (a seven minute exposure! AHHG), someone bumped ito the easel. back to square one. After three days in the darkroom, I had this printed and also a copy for myself. Hurrah! I fucked about with some of the messed up exposed paper and came out with what you see under the cut.

Ooh... my first picture post!
I've been crocheting a ton recently, mostly hats, and a few scarves and purses. I only managed to get photos of four of my hats before my camera died, but... I promise there will be more photos soon.

I did the little linky things because the pictures are horribly large, and I was too lazy to take the time to resize them tonight. Hopefully next time I post photos I will not be so lazy.
