I have a quick question about decoupage that i was hoping someone could answer. I looked through the memories but i didn't see anything about whether or not mod podge would cause newspaper and magazine cutouts to smudge. Will it? I run a crafts club at my school and i was planning on doing mothers day decoupage picture frames this week and those are pretty much the only materials we have...
thanks

I have the most terrible obsession with french soaps. Anthropologie got me started with their tuberose a few years ago, but I now live in New Zealand where there is a huge lack of, well, Anthropologie-esque stores. So here are my questions, maybe some of you could help me out! (Also, I have checked the soap making memories, but I could not find anything about french soaps there.)

| Does anyone here know of a way to make french soaps at home?
| Is anyone else here a Kiwi who could direct me to places I might find soap making/craft supplies in NZ?

Thank you in advance!

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking of working on a pink skirt which I really want to keep..

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

unfortunately...

when the wind blows..

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

the skirt opens up and the cut's pretty high (eh, pardon the pic. it's just to show how high the skirt can really fly -_-")

I want to sew a skin colour lining inside but it will be quite ugly (i think). on the other hand, i thought of adding cloth to have a similar effect as this:-

however, i don't know how to sew so many layers of cloth at one go.

any advice?

greatly appreciated! thank you in advance. =)

heeey, I need some help, and this seemed like a wonderful place to look!

I stayed home from school today and I've been mighty bored...I decided now would be a good time to try my hand at making a bag [I've been wanting to for a while now]. I've been looking for a tutorial or pattern for making a tote bag out of a tshirt. I've seen a few people in different places with them, and I thought they looked pretty cool.

does anyone have one or know where I could find one? I've been looking everywheeerrreeee!

<3thanks in advance<3

A few things as of recently

I haven't had much time this past semester for crafting due to work and school. Especially this obscenely intense color theory class I've had, which was more of a painting/drafting/coloring/animation/portfolio/computer graphics/color&composition class. Most of my time was spent in that. Not to mention I recently got a digital camera, so here are a couple things I've done.

Bags, hats, and a quilt )

Took it out the box and put it together last night...runs great. 2 problems, tho. ONE..the helmet (which I'm not ever wearing) doesn't match...the Faggio is a hot pink/fuschia color and the helmet is like a hot pink/hot orange color. Usually, Id just junk it, but Im thinkin if ever I let one of the bratty kids in the fam ever ride it, they will have to use it. I thought about spray paintin it, but I still think it would be pretty ass ugly. Thought about stickers, but I just dunno. Problema numero dos...Faggio is a tad bit plain...any ideas on making it a cool ride? Thanks a bunches.

hi everyone,

I bought some swarovski flatbacks on ebay however they are quite big and i couldnt find any small ones on Ebay. Does any one know where I could find some small ones so that I can decorate some compacts, my digital camera, and cell phones with. Also alot of people on here speak of E6000 glue or sumthing. Can i get that at Michaels or ACmoore? Thanks in advance!

My cousin bought a ton of unfinished birdhouses a while ago and then didn't have any time to work on them, so she handed them over to me, since I'm currently unemployed and am just filling up my endless free hours with crafts. So I've done a couple using acrylic paints and other little odds and ends I have hanging around. I still have quite a few lying around, any ideas as to what I should decorate them with?

I need some waffle weave fabric (it's cotton, kinda like a t-shirt knit) to make spa wraps. Does anyone know where I can get some?

Online is cool.

I haven't checked Joann's yet b/c I hate my local Joann's. Once I went in and bought a whole unwrapped bolt of 38 inch wide white muslin and the lady at the cutting table asked if I was making KKK robes. UH... I was actually making medieval underpinnings. I told her as much and she looked at me like I offered her my crack pipe.

My local (San Diego, CA) rinky dink crappola fabric store chain doesn't have any, and the lovely Wal*mart doesn't either.

Thanks ladies!

Update over at the Independent Database Project.

Did an overhaul on the “Indie Goods” section and “Resources and Tutorials”.

And what I want to ask all ya’ll is this, if you have an indie business, and you don’t see your business in there, e-mail me a link and some information and I’ll put it up in the database. Simple as all that.

No buttons or banners please, at the moment I’m keeping the site friendly to low-bandwidths. Later on I’ll have two sites, one low-bandwidth and one high-bandwidth friendly, but for now it’s all I can do to keep the one going.

And if you know of any great tutorials or resources, submit them as well.

Of course if your friend is in a band and has a site, I won’t turn that down either. ^_^

The IDP is going to have a regular update schedule (ever Monday and Friday) and will be undergoing a site redesign (that’ll be another week or so from now, and the site won’t be down for more than a day).

As always, feedback, suggestions, and help are welcome.

Submission guidelines from the FAQ:
E-mail us at sevenmuses@bellsouth.net. If the site meets criteria (ie isn't supported by a major label, or company, and doesn't promote bigotry or hatred) we'll add it to the lists. Just send us...

I made this bracelet and necklace set for my stepmom for Mother's Day...She wears a lot of red, so I thought it might look nice. It's nothing too fancy, but I hope she likes it...

It's that time of year again-- FINALS WEEK!! Well, for me, anyways. Every semester I find myself left with a number of textbooks the bookstore refuses to buy back. Rather than chuck them at old people, I'd like to do something creative with them. I've got a knee-high stack of them from years past, and believe me-- I've already tried selling them online, offering to trade them, and giving them out to Trick-Or-Treaters. I guess now I figure if I can't get any money for them, I might as well keep them and/or put them to good use since I had to break into my booze fund to pay for them :(

The only thing I could come up with is making a hollowed-out book (which I really have no use for) or glueing stuff to the pages and using them as scrapbooks... 2 years ago I was going to make a coffee table out of them, but I'm lazy and I don't think my future roommates would go for that idea.

So, does anyone have any creative ideas for old textbooks?

ok, i know this is annoying, but does anyone know an american equivalent of pva paint? i swear it doesn't exist here.

edit: is it possibly poster paint or im thinking more likely craft acrylics (like apple barrel)?

I am proud to say that motherhood has brought out this new era of craftiness in me! Here are some pictures of things I have made. Most relate to cloth diapering...
