Big pic of new punky shredded mesh decorated poofy skirt in pink and black )

I think I'm going to add to it, black butterfly stamping and hand-painting on some
flowers (maybe a cherry blossom branch) in the areas not covered by the mesh.

I'm about halfway done with a completely illustrated, step by step, explained-so-that-even-if-you've-never-sewn-you-can-do-it tutorial on making skirts like this. I'll post it probably around noon or so. :)

yes, a text post. but it may lead to many pretty pictures.

i saw a post the other day that mentioned the leaves used to make some paper smelled awful and a warning to avoid them. and that got me thinking.

i have this "thing" for dill. my nana had a huge dill plant in her kitchen when i was little and the smell reminds me of her. my husband, at my request for some dried dilweed, brought home a huge amount, thinking it was for something besides cooking (i make mojo bags), and i'm wondering if anyone knows anything about intentionally making paper aromatic.

Hey- I'm new *waves*

I'm learning how to use a sewing machine for the first time *shivers* so I'm working on a few simple projects. I was hoping some of ya'll might have either websites or tutorials for reconstructed tees and skirts? Thanks so much, I really love this community. -dora

hey crafty ladies (and gents) - I have a question to pose.
I need help in the basketweaving materials world. (I am trying to put together an art show of local African refugees work, and in working with our local refugee resettlement office I found out that there are a number of basketweavers but they don't know where to get their materials from). I did get a suggestion from a basketweaver I know but am wondering if anyone knows of a company that would send a variety of samples for them to look at, because the catalog I got from Royalwood Ltd. doesn't really have pictures in it, just drawings, and it would be hard for the refugees (who don't speak much English) to figure out what they might want to buy just from the simple drawings. Any help is much, much appreciated.. thank you!!

I checked the craft archives on Friday to see if this had been posted already -- if it's been posted since my apologies for the double! [if I go to check again, I will get sucked into reading the archives and NEVER post it!]

hello crafty kittens!

for all the sewers on the list, or frankly, for anyone who may have helpful advice, i'm DESPERATELY trying to organize my art room and all of my sewing stuff. ie: fabric, patterns etc...
i have rubber-maid containers for my fabric. but i'm trying to figure out a very efficient way for me to store all of my patterns. as many of you may well know, that once you take them all neatly and perfectly folded out of the envelope it is pretty near impossible to get them back in without ripping said envelope or losing pattern pieces. (it's a grand illusion. it's like how DO they get the soft flowing caramilk inside the caramilk bar?? same dilemma)
the only thing i can think of, is to buy a file box with file folders and tape the envelope to the outside, so i immediately know which pattern is which and fold all the pieces as best as i can and place them in the file folder.
ANY thoughts or ideas would be oh-so-very appreciated.

my apologies for a boring post and if it isn't quite craftgrrl appropriate, but i'm knee deep in clutter and trying very hard to get some semblance of order.

thanx, kidz!

p.s. money is an issue...as in, i don't have any, so any way that i could try and figure this out without spending any or very little, would be best. thanx again! :D

pesha has an identity crisis. her mother is a gypsy and her father was a gypsy and all of her sisters and brothers are gypsies. but poor pesha...she doesnt want to be a gypsy. what she really wants to be is a neo-flapper in a burlesque show.

[ regular boring old sculpey, paint, hair, wire, the usual. bits of lace i stained to match. her skirt is made from some tacky bead trim that i think is supposed be trim on even tackier lamps or t-shirts ]

This is one of the many hats I have to do. One down 5 to go.
This one is made with cotton and I'm not sure if it's owner is going to like the ribbon, so I might be remaking that part.

Here it is )

Comments welcome as always.

I have a pretty big peanut jar and I'm wondering what I can do with it. Any ideas ?

I saw this post but none of the ideas really appeal to me.

Pencil/Pen holder type thing is what I've came up with, but I already have one.

This is for all you knitting mavens out there...

I'd like to do the poster boy tote from SNBN, but instead of the pic they have there, I'd like to use a pic of Audrey Hepburn. I've been trying to use knitpro, but i"m just confused by the whole thing. The images aren't turning out how I want them... gr. Does anyone reccommend another program, or are there any tips you could give me for this? I've done intarsia before, I've just never created my own charts, especially off of pictures. I'd like to do it in just two colors, so I've been looking at black and white pictures, but whenever I convert them in knitpro it doesn't turn out too good.

So any tips you can give me would help... :) Thank you!

Zippers!

I decorated my friend's shoes for prom.
She had plain ballerina shoes, and I got my glue gun and rhinestones and got to work.

I have a question. I've recently dropped 20 pounds because I've been sick and I continue to lose weight. As a result, none of my clothes fit. I'm scared to permenately alter my clothes to fit incase I regain the weight when I become better. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I could temporarly alter my clothes. Basically just Jeans, T Shirts, skirts, and bras. Thanks

saturday at work dana's talking about getting a tattoo. i'm down with that. she starts talking about how she wants a peach with some lettering around it. i draw her a peach and talk her out of the lettering. she takes the drawing to the tattoo place and they tattoo my sketch (rather badly) onto her body. and you know, it feels a little strange. but here you go. i wish i had gotten the drawing back from her as a basis of comparison.

I made this shirt for my boyfriend the other week, using a stencil from Stencilry.

et voila!

Some more details on that shirt can be found in my journal. I had a bit of trouble cutting it out at first, until I had the cutting mat. I don't know if it was so wisse to chose a symmetrical pic for my first stencil but there you go! My boyfriend loved it.

so i have a question for you all.

i have several old antique windows i picked up, and have several cool ideas for what to do with them, but the thing is i do not want to keep the original glass in the windows. i'd like to knock out the glass, but put something that's "glass"-like in place of the glass, so if i were to hang them, and they fell, glass wouldn't shatter everywhere, and they'd be a lot lighter to hang.

question is, i have no idea what kind of material exists for that sort of stuff. i went into home depot into the window department and asked if they had any ideas, and they had absolutely none to give me. so, i'm turning to you guys!

help!

Okay, gals! I just spent 4 hours in the emergency room, wherein they cut off one of the legs of my pants to get to the massive laceration. Now, it seems I must deconstruct them into some awesome shorts, since I can't wear pants for about 2 weeks and the hospital staff already started the process. Time for creativity! What should I do with them NOW?

Picture of the pants minus one leg. If you look closely you can see my 13 stitches, too!
