Two things

1.
A question - I have tried many times, trying a few slight changes, but a scarf I have been *trying to crochet insists on narrowing. HELP.
And it only happens like one stitch at a time, so I don't realize it
until a few rows later. The yarn is dark blue, so it's hard for me to
count. Any ideas??

2. A community you may enjoy - [livejournal.com profile] zoomdiy
is my community. It's partially moderated, but is open to any (!) type
of craft! I'm looking for quality pieces. This does not include,
however, altered clothing unless it is dominantly yours.

Feel free to check it out and join. Posting access will be decided after you have posted a few times.

Sorry for . .  )

Thanks in advance! -Katherine

Well, I figured out why crafting late at night is a bad idea...when I'm this tired, EVERYTHING seems like a good idea, even holding sharp X-acto knives close to ones body, or supergluing something, and holding it in place with my fingers -.- Won't be doing that again...

Anyway! As is true with almost everyone, I've been lurking here for a while ^_^ I've wanted to post for a couple weeks now, but first I left my camera at my parents house, then I lost ALL photoediting software on my computer because it died. Now, I could only do iffy resize jobs with my current software, so, I'm sorry if the pictars are huge.

It's EARRING time! )

Well, that's all. Wee! I'm excited I finally got to post on here!

It Begins

So I found these ratty, torn, smelly, stained, rusty old chrome and vinyl chairs on the side of the road during my towns large item pickup week. And I, having only one kitchen chair, decided to take them home. The chairs were so bad when I brought them home that I didn't bring anything inside the house until I ripped all the vinyl/foam off the chairs and washed the skeletons down with lots of bleach water. Therefore, I don't have any before pictures.
This is the closest thing to what they looked like that I could find on google.

I am no where near done with the project, but here is where I am at so far (I'm proud of myself and want to share, even if unfinished).

A little break from the "look what I did!" and "how do I do that?" posts.. :)

This project is amazing! It's an origami house!

hey ladies!

i have about 30 record album covers i have no use for, i wouldn't mind just giving them to someone if they wanted to trade or just pay for shipping. But as they're big and bulky [but not really heavy], i don't nkow how it'd cost. let me know if you want them, if not i'm just going to throw them away :/

some of you may recall my lovebird applique from not long ago...
i started this one a few weeks ago with [livejournal.com profile] prolificpanda
in mind...i finally finished him today (he was hiding under
all the knitting paraphenalia lurking in my working area.) :P

the pand-applique is 5" long and 3" high
and is made from assorted bits of fabric.
he may very well end up on a purse
much like the lovebird applique did

Now, I would never get a tattoo of anyone's name anywhere on my body, least of all on my butt. (Not my style.) However, inspired by this post, I decided a jeans-pocket ass tattoo is the way to show my undying (or until I get a seam-ripper) love for my boyfriend, Evan. I bought the Stitch-It Kit (long live Jenny Hart!) and in an afternoon, had a tribute even his mother loves. photos! )

i may as well post my lovebird applique:

he's 4" high and 3" wide and he lives on this purse )

WIP: S'nB Punk Rock Backpack (bunny chart)

This is my first 'big' knitting project (other than a scarf I did with intarsia snowflakes on the ends).. :) The intarsia is a bit difficult, but I'm managing well.

For those who've already completed this, I wanted to ask.. was it difficult attaching everything (lining, bag, zipper) together?

Thank heavens for pencil crayons and shrinky dinks.

I have been wanting to try my hand at making some more Sailor Jerry designs into necklace form. I've made 2 new pendants. They didn't turn out as perfect as I hoped. But pretty good for my first shot at these designs.

Not work safe: Cut for sailor jerry style nudity! )

I've seen a couple Yodas on here before, and thought that they were so cute, and wanted to make one for my boyfriend. Well, we're getting married in August, and I've decided to make him a few gifts. So far I have finished this guy. )

So tonight is MayDay!, the monthly 80s dance party. I had bought some black leggings, but I wanted a short skirt to go with them. At Gabe's I found a $2 black and white striped skirt but it was super short for me. I decided to go to Wal-Mart and buy some bright tulle to add to it. Here's the result...

Then I realized I have some coin-shaped resin beads that are the exact same blue as the tulle.

between the fabric i stockpiled while my machine was broken, and everything i bought today at the field's fabrics' tent sale... i have all of this:

to make stuff out of. YES. i am so excited.

everything from the yellow on up was either $1 or $2/yd. i got 4 yards of the top one, because i loved it so much.

So, for my latest project, I got a bit harry potter-ed. And there's more to come. But here it is!

I have been having trouble finding answers to my Print Gocco questions, and while the Craftster.org forum had some great tips, I was really hoping to find a more comprehensive resource.

Today was my lucky day:
Yahoo Print Gocco Group

This group has a ton of information and thanks to the search feature, I have found answers to all of my questions about cleaning my screens.

Here's a bunch of my projects that Ive done over the past couple of months. For those who wanted to see the jeweled cell phone its under the cut with everything else. I ran out of crystals and money so I have to wait to cash my check and buy more. I went the idea to use nail glue. I got on clearance over at CVS (my yarn stash income)and it seems to be holding pretty well. I also had to use huge tweezers in order to place the stones without getting glue all over my hands. I hate haveing that gator skin feeling But everything is under there including the little cozy I knitted for it. Pattern curtosy of S'nB.

once my poster boy bag is done Ill post pictures.

stars?

when making the origami stars (lucky stars) is there a trick to the last step (where you turn it from a pentagon to the star)? or is it one of those things that you get better at with practice? mine aren't coming out so well. like the center of the star doesn't puff out very much it always wants to cave in
[identity profile] girlx512.livejournal.com
I have this fabric, I love it, only have one yard, and am completely lacking ideas of what to make from it. I've been on a hand-sewing kick lately, but I don't want a purse/bag or a pillow. While it's just enough to come up with a cute skirt, I so rarely wear skirts that it's not exactly worth the effort.

I was thinking of making something that requires stuffing, but heck if I can come up with anything. Is anyone else feeling inspired?

I made a little tutorial since paper stars seem to be making a comeback :D

onwards to the tutorial! )
