Brian was scared, very scared.... he'd never been the popular kid at school, the other kids used to call him three eyes and he was just a bit too square to fit in... Brian was scared about the future, it looked grey. He was certain he would be an Exell monkey forever, that no female of the species would ever love him and he would certainly die alone eaten by corgis. Fear gripped Brian and he head was filled with what ifs and maybes, but he was too scared to take chances... too scared to cross the street without examining the traffick status, too cautious to not check the weather forecast before he left for work. However, this changed most unexpectedly one day when chemical tanker overturned and Brian, trying to dodge the impending doom walking straight into a molten puddle of hope.....

So my job this weekend is basically sitting in an office, and occasionally walking around the student union to make sure no one's setting a fire. I do this for about 9 hours at a time. So I took giant stacks of old magazines, glue sticks, and 10 cent notebooks from walmart and make collage-notebooks for my classes next semester.

hey there, kids. someone recently suggested that I join this community, so here I am. I paint on old thrift-store-bought purses and, as of yesterday, sell them in a store in my city. below is an lj-cut to pictures of my current collection. I'd be interested in hearing your suggestions for improvement.. also, if you so desire, let me know which ones you like best.. I have my own favorites, but I'd like to know what others are feelin' ...because then I'll make more similar ones - I'm supposed to have 30 additional purses done by september, eeeeek.

I very rarely make necklaces that I myself will wear. But this weekened I'm going out of my way to design myself some fun classier style necklaces that I can wear. I have also discovered how soft embroidery floss really is. It makes a great base to work with for beads.

So I am getting ready to move, and I packed all of my yarn first so it wouldn't distract me from moving. And then my friend IMs me to tell me that Joanns is having a sale. And THEN I get an e-mail with a 40% off coupon in it. And THEN I find that my roommate who already moved out left her 50% coupon here.

Needless to say, I bought some yarn. Caron's Bliss has got to be the softest thing I've ever worked with. It really felt like crocheting with air. Unfortunately, it's not a yarn I would really wear with anything, because I'm not a fuzzy yarn type of person. So I made my roommate a hat.

With ears, because she's never worn a hat without ears... )

hey.. i scanned the memories section and didn't find anything on pillows, so sorry if i am repeating anything!

i am looking to make some throw pillows and i'm not sure where to start. it seems like an easy enough thing to sew, but the only tutorials i can find use pillow forms. this would be fine, but i have a TON of polyfil lying around and i would love to use it up. does anyone know of a simple pillow pattern that i can use polyfil and NOT have to use a weird trimming? my brain can't comprehend how to stitch it all together without one of the sides being all inside out and ugly. thanks!

Hello Dello.

Ill get right to it. How would I make a skirt out of a giant sheet of fabric. I have a huge pirate flag that I want to make into a skirt...

This is what I have done with my afternoon thus far...

It's an extreme remodel of a shirt I got over a year ago at the thriftstore.
When I took it home I found that it looked horrible on, bagging and gaping and just looking incredibly unflattering.
So it sat in the pile of stuff I needed to do something with until this morning.
I cut off the hems at the cuffs and bottom of the top since the beige liner was 1" larger than the black lace (sloppy sewing on behalf of the manufacturer)refitting the layers of fabric together, cutting off the excess, then basting the two together to prevent shifting while I sewed.
While I had it in layers I also added darts to the front and back so it would fit nicer, putting darts in both the liner and black lace.
Then I added some stretchy offwhite vintage lace trim I had around the neck, coming down in the front, the bottom, and the cuffs.
I really should have taken a before picture to illustrate how ugly this top was while on a body vs a hanger, but, se le vie.

my mom saw some aprons at a craft store in Nebraska made from old men's overalls. I have searched the internet looking for a pattern for my mother with no such luck. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have an idea of how they are made. From the way she described them to me, the butt was removed and attached to the front just below the belt loop, and the straps and back part above the belt loop remained in tack. They also used fabric to trim the whole thing. These instructions are rough which is why I am looking for more details or even a picture. thanks!

man, the stitching is AWFUL! but it's my first time working with vinyl. (upon reflection, i should have used black thread. ah well.)

I went to a nudie girl themed craft party today. I made a cake shaped like boobs for a snack. The baby pies were just random.

question

can either "stucco patch" or "multi purpose joint compount" be used as purely decorative grout?

it is to grout the outside of a candle holder covered with beach glass so the light glows through.

before i used liquid leading as the grout, since i wanted a black grout, but a recent dumpster dive yielded me the above materials and i want to use them somehow.

thanks

gratuitous photo: the one i made with beach glass, a jar, and black liquid leading (like black tacky glue in consistency)

Hey there. On Wednesday I am going to pick out the color swatch for the bridal party dresses. I am going to give a swatch to them along with what I would like their dress to be style wise, along with the colors and whatnot of accessories. I was thinking of putting the swatch and "guidelines" in a cardstock card....but I am not sure how I could make it extra pretty. If you have any idea on how I could...or any other fun suggestions...I'd be most grateful!

Thanks :)

I've been really busy lately. Here's a list of the things I've made plus pictures under the cut.

Large travel bag, a hipslinger thing, some luggage tags, a kitty for a friend, resized an old nightgown, 2 shirt reconstructions and 2 headbands.

Here's the pictures:

hellooo; here is an update on my new dolls for those who are interested.

The latest progress...

The newest one is showing you her nifty new hand armatures. Whether or not they will work remains to be seen. I'm considering putting full sculpey arms on her... not really sure yet.
The one that's been painted is still waiting for a skirt, paint on her naked backside, and a solution to her gimpy hand problem.

i usually browse here and feel inferior at myability to make stuff....

i won this off of ebay a few weeks ago and definately want to put it on a purse.... it's pretty big... 4x7-ish.... anywho, i need suggestions on how i should do this, i.e. pattern, style, colours.... i love how campy it is but i think the purse shouldhave a little class.... i love mixing elegance w/ campy/gaudy things.
