I have a room to myself (for now) at school, which I'm very happy about. The walls are entirely bare and ugly. They are white painted cinder block and I feel like I'm in a prison. I had an idea of covering them in strips of patterned cotton fabric. Would this look stupid, especially with rough edges? Should I use a different type of fabric? How should I tack them to the wall? I don't know how crafty this is, but I 'm desperate. The other thing is that I have loads of 60s women's magazines, like McCalls. Would putting up interior decorating photos from these look tacky? Other room decorating ideas?

$1/skein yarn at Target! I know it's not new news by now, but I wasn't sure if anyone actually posted pictures of the stuff.

On the right is a skein of 'Boucle' yarn that Nick's sister gave to me. I went to three different Target stores trying to find more so I would have enough to make a scarf, but I was only able to find the 'Fuzzy Fur' yarns (seen on the left) at two locations. I'll probably use the fuzzy fur yarns to make scarves for Christmas gifts (the patterns say you only need two skeins to form a scarf), and I am probably going to buy some boucle yarn by Bernat and make a striped scarf with the yarn that was given to me.

I've been working on some beaded butterfly brooches...

check them out )

I'm also planning on making a set of windchimes, with some recycled equipment. I had a look through the memories, but can't find anything relevant- but if anyone has any tips or tutorials, I'd appreciate them.

Through no fault of my own, I dropped something very hot on my purse today and it burned a hole through the canvas. It's not pretty, and it's in a very obvious spot. I'd like to cover it up, but I can't for the life of me think of something to cover it with. I'm drowning in felt and fleece from this weekend's escapades, so I'd like to use one of those materials.

My friend has my camera, so I can't take pictures of what I made this weekend, but expect those by next week

i'm i the only one whose hands go numb when knitting? do you think there's something wrong? i've yet to even try to make anything because of this. am i the only one?

How do you skeletonize leaves?

so, i haven't made any hoop bags lately... but yesterday i had the brilliant idea to make a baby one. this ones tiny - 8" x 8". it's nuts. i got my wallet in it and my cellphone and a pack of gum and my altoid tin and my chapstick and like seven pens in it. but there was still a bit of room so it's not really that small.

it's cute. it's patchwork. and i like it. and it's all under the cut because it had to.

plus three )

and after breaking two needles just yesterday, my mom told me to step away from the machine for awhile. so i've got two more totes cut and waiting to be sewn... i am going to have way too many bags on my hands.

thanks for looking! ♥ jenny

So over the past few weeks I've been really inspired to get back into sewing. I went through quite a dry spell and stopped sewing for a decent amount of time, probably a year or more. I felt bad because my mom bought me a brand new sewing machine for one of my birthdays, and I kind of toyed with it..did alot of stuff with it for awhile, then just gave up hope.

But I'm back in the game now, and I'm happy about it. I've been big on flashy sparkly things such as sequins, beads, and just about anything that shines..along with the new Bohemian fashions that are rising as of recently. So here are a couple of the tshirts that I have been making, inspired by nature...

Last week I posted the bag that was my first knitting project; along with pictures of my second project.
I'm really happy with how it came out, it's nice and chunky...and warm!

Tonight I think I'm going to try the seafoam stitch. Any pointers on first trying this stitch?

Hey Gals,
I'm attempting to make a tailored jacket. Does anyone know if you can use Fusable Interfacing for the inside of the jacket instead of a wool canvas? OR can anyone just give me advice on how to make the layer that is between the fabric and lining and what kind of supplies you use? Thanks!

Hokay, so, my friend Holly is gettin' married next summer on a lovely beach here in CA. And 'cuz I like making people things, I decided to make a bracelet for her. *shh, don't tell her though! Luckily, she's not a crafty person, so there's a slim-to-none chance she'll be on this community any time soon*

Ooooh, shiny! )

Soooo... whaddaya think? Pretty? It's kind of simple for my taste, but she's planning on getting a nice, simple white sundress for her bridal gown, and she's not a super-frou-frou girl anyway...

All comments will be appreciated! Thanks!

So I posted an entry about covering a hole in my purse, and then decided on doing an Azumanga Diaoh patch of Father out of felt. He turned out so cute, and I'm thinking about making other assorted patches for my purse just because I can

The man of the hour )

And this weekend, JoAnn Fabric had a huge "Founders Day Sale", and my brother works there (yeah 15% discount!) so we bought some fabric and some pillow forms, and I made...

PILLOWS! )

I also bought a bunch of fabric because my friend wanted a skirt. It was all on sale and on clearance, so it ended up costing like $16 for the whole thing. And I wanted to shoot a roll of film for photography class of her in the same skirt that she wants and a bodice top, and now I'm considering one of those combs with the feathers and beads on it in black because she has blonde hair and I think it would be georgious. You guys will probably get to see some of the photos after I develop them, but for now, it's just a mass of fabric

It's for my neice Leana's Birthday this Saturday. She's in love with Strawberry Shortcake.

This time I use interface in the tote bag. It was very easy to use. All I had to do was iron it onto my fabric. It keeps the bag very sturdy. I totally love it.
